  1. Yeah someone posted that poem on my Facebook feed relating to that incident. Hopefully his family will come to peace with it soon.
  2. Fap to this? Throw that dog fish back in the water.
  3. The problem with those games is that they all suffer the fate of niche markets. They exist, but they don't sell well. Most studios and publishers want a game that sells well. Payday wasn't the first game of that type either. You also had Kane & Lynch and Heist was something in the works. This game is supposed to be on the same subject matter but have large scale multiplayer battles. Some of you guys need to go watch the movie Heat. The gun battle scene in that is awesome, and if the gameplay was similar, then I'd love it.
  4. Hove Beach has a lot of Russians with guns, Steinway has a very large area of prostitution at night, as does the little ghetto near Firefly Island, you have Chinatown, Little Italy, etc. Plenty of places.
  5. Yeah the cold war was serious business. That that's in the past now. Russia likes us to a certain extent. They just conduct some shady stuff, like the spies caught in Boston and shipped back to Russia. Needless to say, our government had a little "chat" with Russia. Anyway it's not as if we're not doing the same to them.
  6. Ah, I found something. Sean Fogarty, a barrista at Me & Ollies coffee shop around the corner from town hall, said the town has never had problems with violent crime. “I just don’t expect someone to have automatic weapons in Greenland,” Fogarty said. -BostonGlobe.com Another article said that the house had bars that could be put on the windows, reinforced doors, cameras all around the yard and what could be a snipers nest in the back yard. An officer at the shooting scene said that, as of 11 p.m., police were not certain of Mutrie's whereabouts. Speaking on condition of anonymity, the officer said the Post Road property was extensive, stretched toward Interstate 95 and included a deer stand. Police extended a half-mile perimeter around the home and were using at least one police K-9 unit and an infrared detector attached to a helicopter in an attempt to locate Mutrie if he was outside of the home. -SeacoastOnline.com
  7. Fast, but not accurate against 5 people in different positions with an inexperienced shooter. It's alright, you're right. We'll find out some more details in the coming days. I'll post more if I get updates. *EDIT* Here's a video news report on the situation: http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/video/deadly-police-shooting-greenland-hampshire-16130012
  8. Agreed but what semi-automatic rifle? An M16 with a modified firing mechanism? An M1 Garand? Getting your hands on an automatic weapon is easier than a lot of people think. And this guy being a convicted felon had to get them through some type of black market channel. In any case, even single shots would have given a couple of the officers enough time to get out of the line of fire. It would make sense for the weapon to be fully automatic, that way there would be no time to dodge. Anyway, all the details will be published soon enough, this is just speculation.
  9. It depends on how you define generic shooting games. If you mean Call of Duty, then this game will be great. If you mean ones that flopped like Soldier of Fortune III, this game looks like it has excellent production values. The graphics engine reminds me of the Crytek engine with the poly count of the rifles and the animation style. So long as the controls match the animations, then I'll be sold. I really wish I could play a piece of the alpha/beta before I donate to it. Especially if it's going to be $100.
  10. WWI and WWII were only 20 years apart because we didn't go all the way to Berlin the first time and gave them a really horrible "deal" military wise with the Versailles Treaty. Germany was a powder keg, and if Adolf Hitler wasn't there to blow it up, someone else eventually would have. I hate to say it, but Europe was asking for it. Luckily they 2nd time the Allies finished the job and secured total victory over Germany. The only mistake the Allies made that time was letting Russia gobble up land. It took about 45 years to fix that.
  11. I only reall know of SWAT and R6V. The fact that this will be class based, large scale and with vehicles will make it unique in its genre. It's a good concept, but I don't want them holding a player class hostage for $100.
  12. Because he shot 5 officers in rapid succession without being hit a single time. I doubt an inexperienced guy with a bolt action would be able to do that at close range through a window (which is what happened). Also the reason this national news is because this isn't where you live, Marine. It's an extremely quiet town that only has 2 officers on patrol at once in what may be considered cow country. Crime exists everywhere, but this level of crime in that area is extremely unusual.
  13. This game looks great. Heat was a fantastic movie, and I remember that bank robbery in L.A. on TV. That was a horrible spectacle. Rainbow 6 Vegas was a wonderful game and I would have seriously played the multiplayer if they had made dedicated servers for it possible instead of a stupid XBOX port. In any case, I think I'll back this game. And remember folks, if you have input, that's what Kickstarter is for. You exchange money for influence. *EDIT* Here's the Kickstarter page for the game where you can donate: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/policewarfare/police-warfare I'm not sure if I'm going to donate $50 or $100. I like the idea of the exclusive class, but that's a lot of money for a game I don't get to beta test first. But, on a sad note, these guys have a ridiculously tight deadline. They won't raise over a quarter of a million dollars by that date. It's too soon.
  14. Okay, so now for an update: The police chief caught a bullet in the head and was probably dead upon the bullets impact, however this cannot be verified as EMT's couldn't get to him when he was hit. All other officers were taking fire at the time. The suspect took five officers out at once with some kind of a rifle, automatic I'd assume, no word as to what kind of rifle it was. The suspect was a steroid abuser and was found guilty of selling drugs in the past, and neighbors complained about his activity, and the Greenland P.D. said they were "working on it". One of the police chiefs last wishes before he retired was to take this guy out in a drug bust, and they did, although not as expected. The man had been nothing but a burden on the community since he moved into town 7 years ago. One of the other officers who was shot I knew indirectly through another family member. He was in critical condition and went into surgery, but now all four other officers are in stable condition. As for the suspect, he killed a female hostage, then shot himself in the head. No justice today for the Greenland P.D. Meanwhile, another officer in the state I live in now was also shot this morning in the hand and leg during an attempted arrest. He is in stable condition. These incidents follow an officer on officer shooting about a month ago in my current state, where one committed suicide after he attempted to murder the other for purportedly having an affair with his wife. This has been a really weird spring for the police of New England, to say the least.
  15. I dunno why we have to cloak the simple truth behind a bunch of political BS. It's pretty simple. Kim Jong Il was a soviet militant who was too late to the party (literally and figuratively lol). He was a doofus, and his son is probably an even bigger doofus and an inexperienced one at that. This news, although somewhat frightening due to the possibility of this being a missile and not a simple "rocket" as they claim doesn't really mean much to those in the U.S. other than the fact that we shouldn't be so quick to reduce our military budget. N.K is always going to have these kind of tests unless Kim Jong Il's son decides to break out of the old communist government model and re-align with South Korea and let someone else take over. Anyone remember this game? Some of the pieces of the storyline puzzle have already fallen into place. Let's just make sure we keep gas under $20 per gallon (or switch fuel types) and keep our other Asian neighbors happy by buying their crap and selling it to our countrymen at inflated prices. We're happy enough doing that now, lets just carry on and get on with our lives.
  16. Marine, something tells me he's not a PC genius so I wouldn't be harsh on him. But long story short; no, the game won't run iceywarm, sorry.
  17. When Kim Jong Il died, they had talked to a couple of US press members, and the military generals admitted they knew that if they started any kind of conflict with America that they'd get stomped into the ground very quickly, so they have no plans on attacking us directly, and they're probably very hesitant to attack South Korea too since we have troops stationed there. Even if they did, we have far more countries with us than against us. I dare them to try something, honestly. Watch how quickly England, Germany, France, Australia, and Japan would help out. Hell, if it lasted a long time we can take solace in the fact that even countries like Russia (who more or less created North Korea) don't like them anymore. For that matter I don't know of any country who legitimately likes them. Some arab states might support them only because they don't like Westerners.
  18. The North Koreans claim it was a weather rocket. By the design, it doesn't look like that at all, nor does the trajectory of where it was supposed to travel and where it ended up traveling. The pieces used to build it were "borrowed" from Russia and China according to news reports I saw a couple of hours ago. They've already test fired missiles that horribly failed before, and this is just another failure on their part. They do have some nuke knowledge, but apparently they can't design guidance systems to save their lives. Some analysts think that NK is going to tell the world that it was "shot down" by Japan in order to play it off like it was successful. Japan and SK are combing the water with the U.S. where they think it landed to try and find out exactly what it was.
  19. One police officer was killed and four other officers were injured in New Hampshire this evening in a standoff with a suspect armed with a rifle, authorities said The shooting occurred in Greenland, outside Portsmouth, N.H., on the coast. The incident may have been the result of a drug bust gone south, according to reports. The shootout is the latest in the rising toll of officers shot by suspects, a trend that counters a decline in many other crimes around the country. -ABC News So here's what I know based off of local TV feeds, Twitter feeds and the local police scanners: Police and drug agents attempted to serve a warrant to Cullen Mutrie of Greenland, NH, a suspected drug dealer very close to this location: The Greenland Central School. It is an elementary and kindergarten school near the center of town. It, and some of the surrounding homes (any place within a half mile of the suspects house) has been evacuated. Those who could not be informed to leave in time have been told to stay in their homes. Upon contact, one police officer, the Chief of Greenland NH P.D. was shot dead. Four other officers were wounded, including two of the drug agents. Two officers are in critical condition, in Portsmouth NH Regional Hospital. The man is still barricaded inside his house as I write this, with three others in the basement. This is a picture of the police chief who was killed. The department only has 7 officers in total. Please pray for everyones safety, save for the criminal scumbag as this incident is till ongoing. For those interested, this is the police channel for that area: http://www.radiorefe...=wp&feedId=4821 Keep in mind that the police always have a tactical channel for situations like this, so the local channel may be a snooze-fest. I'm only getting little tid-bits of information from that channel. *EDIT* Word is now that he somehow escaped the house and is in the woods. I can hear police on the local scanner trying to re-organize containment around the area, making sure he doesn't go near Highway 95. This is speculation however.
  20. Good to hear you're enjoying it. Looking forward to the video content you're gearing up for.
  21. There are some with bad attitudes out there, yeah. All the ones I've met are generally good people with the exception of one guy that pulled me over when I was 17. He let me go without a ticket anyway because I wasn't seriously breaching the speed limit. In any case, just remember that police officers are still humans. Some humans are good, some are bad.
  22. Dude that was rather unnecessary... Most likely because large aftermarket things like maps and cars introduce a whole new set of glitches that will interfere with the mod.
  23. They should have left the rest of the code in. I doubt nVidia is stupid enough to say "Oh, let's just shove this Battlefield 3 code out of the way to better optimize Modern Warfare 3. More people play that game anyway." But I know that the trend with any computer program is that when a new feature is added, it often breaks ones that were in there previously. :P
  24. I'm sure they'll expand it in the near future. The problem is giving the record companies enough money to be satisfied (and they all want a lot...). You can always try and use a proxy in the meantime. :whistling:
