LBP has about 3,000 officers and 1,000 support staff. As of 2011, they have 580 'operational' marked and unmarked vehicles and a few boats. All these people can do is hire/fire the chief constable (the chief/sheriff equivalent) and set budgets etc. It's nothing significant really and a bit of a waste of money in my opinion, as well as being a way to introduce politics to the police - two things which should be separate.

As pointed out above, a good cop is one that can resolve a situation through non-physical means. Ideally you want to be in a position where you can manipulate people through a whole arsenal of non-physical techniques, rather than just relying on force. While having an imposing build and height can help in some situations, it might actually do more harm than good as any sort of public official needs to be approachable for the public they serve and some tall guy that looks like he belongs in a boxing ring isn't exactly the definition of approachable. I think that if an agency had to choose between brains or bulk, they'd go for brains every time.

Given that the 2nd Presidential debate just ended, and the campaigns are in full swing, what exactly does everyone think of the election and maybe even US politics in general? Is it true that the candidate with the most money wins, or is there more to it? Right now it looks as though most people are calling the debate a win for Obama, or a tie at least, but does this really change anything? Realistically it's a choice between two parties and two politicians, so are most peoples' minds made up way before the campaign even starts? Personally I think that the politics of the USA is just morally corrupt with far too many outside influences and big businesses getting their way. The recent recordings of Romney talking about 47% of Americans being government dependent victims and voting for Obama no matter what were for me just a clear sign that Romney is someone that is just painfully out of touch with most people like lots of the Obama attack ads have been trying to paint him as, and the fact that it happened at some sort of rich people dinner fundraiser thing I think speaks for itself in that it was most likely an attempt by him to get the Republican/conservative millionaires on his side by showing them his true colours. Of course, Obama has been getting a lot of pressure piled on him regarding the state of the economy and obviously he has a case to answer there, although is it really fair to expect that in just 4 years everything would be back to normal? Perhaps that's maybe Obama's fault for perhaps promising too much back in 2008 and not delivering enough. Ultimately, if I could vote I would have to go with Obama as Romney just seems like a jerk to me that's never really met an ordinary person in his life. I think his stuff on controlling womens bodies is ridiculous and a lot of his points just seem like really opportunistic attacks on Obama, and not really on creating his own vision, which I guess applies the other way too. Sadly it just looks like one of the biggest things of the election season is how much money candidates spend on attacking each other rather than trying to sell themselves. The whole political spectrum in the US, and to a certain extent, the UK, seems to be about money and who has the most of it, which was really horribly evident last time back in 2010 when former eBay exec Meg Whitman spent something like $180,000,000 on her campaign to become the governor of California and former WWE exec Linda McMahon spending $60,000,000 odd on her campaign to win a senate seat in Connecticut. It all just seems a bit surreal that people would spend all that money on something and the only reason I can think of really is that they want the power. If you wanted to do good or something, why not just go around and invest the money in proper charitable programs in the state? Maybe you could go and get people off the streets, prop up failing schools, improve transport and create jobs instead of throwing it all at an election?

Considering it took a large and well respected games development company something like 4 years to develop GTA IV with a team of approximately 150 professional game developers, I can't even begin to imagine how many years it would take a team of 3 people to make even just the map for a standalone LCPDFR.

I had various forms of bullying thrown at me for a few years at school. Eventually I just went and got it sorted with my teachers and staff and yeah, that was the end of it. Most important thing is to never let people like that change who you are and of course, to be proud of who you are even if other people give you crap for it. I only ever had 8 or 9 good friends at school because I never tried to fit in and be someone else. I got good grades, I got into university and most awesome of all, I built this place :)

I think it would be best if we agreed to drop all of the controversy and conspiracy theories from this thread, and instead focus on the people that actually died and the wider impact that 9/11 had on the world. Honestly, it's not worth fighting over who did or planned it because the fundamental principles remain the same - it was an attack on the freedom of everybody and it changed the world completely in so many ways, from allowing governments to invade our privacy, subject us to massive new security measures, trigger religious hatred, start global conflicts and wars and create general distrust around the world. Also, while, yes, this was an attack on American soil, it wasn't just Americans who died, and it wasn't just American values that were attacked. There are many other countries around the world that were hurt just as much by 9/11 and even more so by the things that it changed, so it's worth pointing that out as well.
