Favorite GTA Mod Developer
Honestly I think its unfair to single one person out like this. The great thing about modding and this site is that there's collaboration. You might point to Person X being the best modder or whatever, but then perhaps Person X didn't care about modding until Person Y got him or her into it. Similarly, you might point to Mod X being a fantastic mod, but Mod X might consist largely of bits of Mod Y and Mod Z. Perhaps it would be more fitting to recognise people for their contributions to the community instead, and in that case, I think there's one person that stands above the rest - Lt.Caine. I can guarantee you that without his contributions (and a lot of these many of you won't even know of as they were largely behind-the-scenes), modding in the large and open form as we know it on LCPDFR simply would not exist. It's a real shame because most people know Caine for his mods, largely ELS, and they only really tell half of the story.

Community Team & Staffing Update (August 1st, 2014)
In my original post, I also mentioned that we'd be adding a new member to the team and trying out a new role. Sometimes we're criticsed for dealing with issues concerning modding but not actually having mainstream modding experience. In some ways there's some merit to this, so Sgt.Kanyo will be joining us in an advisory capacity, offering his take and advice on a range of community management and moderation issues. I can't stress enough that the Community Team is exactly what it says on the tin - a team of members who dedicate their time and their effort to the community and its improvement. We're always looking for people that we think can help us with this, and the team here is always committed to delivering the best for everyone. We do have to make some difficult decisions, but it is because we do this that this site is still going and growing.

[NOT VICTORY] Count To 20 Before A Moderator Or Developer Posts
I always knew that it was useful to have staff from a range of timezones, but I never thought it'd be this useful. No matter where we are in the world, we're all rooting for you guys!

Community Team & Staffing Update (August 1st, 2014)
Community Team & Staffing Update (July 28th & August 1st, 2014) In keeping with the continuous development of the site, we're in the process of making a few changes and additions to the Community Team. As such, LukeD and willpv23 will be joining the team as our newest pair of community moderators. Luke and Will are both longstanding LCPDFR members and are well known figures throughout the community. Many will know Luke as the author of popular GTA IV script modifications and LCPDFR API plugins like Callouts+. Will, on the other hand, was a staff member on LCPDFR's old SA-MP server, FCRP. Additionally, we're also going to be making some changes to the International Community forums. This might include the possibility of adding new forums for new languages, and we might take suggestions for these at a later date. In the mean time, however, SuperStumpje will be joining the team as the new Dutch Forum Moderator. We're always looking for people that we think can help us with this, and the team here is always committed to delivering the best for everyone. We do have to make some difficult decisions, but it is because we do this that this site is still going and growing. As always, we hope that everybody will join with us in welcoming our new staff members to the team. Sam.

MH17 Shot Down Over Ukraine
Sky News are saying Russian media were reporting that Russian backed Ukrainian separatists were boasting of shooting down a Ukranian transport plane over the same area shortly before the reports of MH17 crashed. According to Sky News, these reports have since "disappeared from Russian media".

Oh that's cool. I could never figure out how to get images in the menus like that :S My model swap thing was a script, and it wasn't very stable. I did play around with the clothing files as well, although it was frustrating not being able to get images of the clothes and the limit of only having so many available.

(UPGRADED) HOW TO make a realistic felony traffic stop
The way that OfficerBurningBowl does it should work for everyone. I don't see how any other mod could interfere with this. LCPDFR simply checks the distance and the speed of the vehicle. If the vehicle is stopped or going really slowly, and if you're within 10 units of the ped, which is almost a car length away, you'll be able to order them to exit the car. Using the normal siren to make them stop and holding them there with M will not prevent you from doing anything to the driver.

IV County Jail
This is a nice concept. I always wanted to have the extra layer of immersion where you can actually jail your 'customers', although I was put off by the lack of suitable interior for it. The prison just didn't fit in with LCPDFR I didn't think. I'm not sure myself just how far advanced the mapping scene in GTA IV is, although I would hope by now there's the ability to edit the station model and add proper walls instead of the garage doors. If this is indeed something that could be done - I'm sure you could have a really interesting project on your hands - especially if someone is able to use our API to better integrate it with LCPDFR. I suppose perhaps better yet, it'd be nice to see someone attempt to create an interior that we could use as a lockup as we'd be able to add it as a marker on the elevator inside the lawyers office. You could enter the marker and come out down below at the basement lockup interior, leave your prisoner in a cell, then come back up. This would be really neat in the sense that it'd be at every police station, and not just the one in Algonquin that you've modified.

let's be cops (movie)
For what its worth, someone over at GTAF said that there's a small part in this movie where they are actually playing LCPDFR. Will be interesting to see if that's true!

Watch_Dogs Police Car On Demand App
This is for those of you that play Watch_Dogs and would like the ability to summon police cars through the Car on Demand app. I thought it was quite poor that you could get any other car, including ambulances and fire trucks, but not the police cars. An omission no more, however, as this mod will replace some of the heavy vehicles with all of the Chicago police vehicles available. W_D Police Car on Demand.zip

I'm back from the US now so I'll see if I can find the time to start working on what I was doing again. Unfortunately uplay updated Watch_Dogs and it overwrote all my hacks, so I've lost a few things :(

If G17 Media was asked to make a large (AAA) Police Sim, would you do it?
Well it's important to note that there's no company whatsoever. A company suggests an organisation being run for commercial reasons - G17 Media is merely a name which we use to link things together and work under. As a few others have suggested, this is something that just wouldn't happen. The most likely scenario in my opinion that is even remotely close to this is that Rockstar would offer us a job with them. I don't see that happening either though. As far as raw abilities are concerned, Jay and LMS are extremely talented at what they do and I don't doubt that they could produce some amazing stuff - they already have here. Making a game isn't about ability though, its about time, resources and money. We have none of those.

It can't work if there's no image extension. Before I went away, I worked on some sort of police backup thing:

GTA IV - The Great Flood
And here I was thinking the extent of my powers was making peoples computers/games/etc crash due to my lovely wares. But now I can bring death and destruction to an entire city?! That's awesome.

Minority Majority In The UK
The problem with the UK is the way in which our society still bends over backwards for religion. One of the hot topics recently has been about schools in Birmingham, the second largest city in the UK, where its alleged that there were plans in some schools for an 'Islamic take over'. There were some reports of teachers being fired for being the 'wrong gender', and supposedly boys and girls in the schools were being separated and put into same sex classes. I think at one of the schools as well the signage was primarily in Arabic as well - something which the media loved. Its not about one religion though, the same thing happens in the UK with 'faith schools' which are allowed to teach their religion exclusively and still operate as a normal school (the majority are Christian, and according to David Cameron, the UK is a Christian country). I don't think this is something which should be promoted in the modern world really. Ideally religion need only be taught in a class dedicated to it, much in the same way that everything else is taught (e.g. teaching geography in geography class), and schools shouldn't be allowed to pick and choose what religions they teach. Regardless, in the UK, its far too easy to get off the hook with a lot of things that would be otherwise illegal or morally unacceptable by playing the religion card. For instance its illegal in the UK to slaughter animals without stunning them first which apparently is a more humane way of doing things. Islam and Judaism (and possibly other regions?) don't allow for this though, and demand that the animal be slaughtered alive by being beheaded. It is a pretty gross process as far as I understand. Of course, while this is illegal under UK law, there is for some unknown reason an exception based on religious grounds which basically means you can break the law in the name of religion. Its important to understand as well that while you might argue that something like that is no big deal for the majority of people that oppose halal/kosher slaughter as they can simply choose not to eat it, its not that simple. If you're selling meat, you don't want to have to pay for two different slaughter processes when you can just pay for one. Therefore they pay for halal meat as it appeals to the lowest common denominator (non Muslims can still eat it, whereas Muslims can't eat non halal meat). This results in quite a lot of meat in the UK which is sold being halal slaughtered as (as far as I know) you don't have to say it on the packaging (it might be hidden away on a website somewhere), so they simply create two brands (one halal, one 'normal'), but use the same meat for both. This effectively results in the beliefs of the few being forced on the many - which is the problem of religion in the 21st century. Let people come to the UK, let people practice their religions in the UK, but don't let them force it on others, and don't give any religion special treatment or a place in the law.

Watch_Dogs [Screenshots]
I'd like to keep this on-topic about screenshots as much as possible, although LMS has been working with me on Watch_Dogs for a few days now and we've been making really good progress. You can read about some of his work on the game over at http://www.lms-dev.com. And well, since this is a screenshot thread, here's another: I managed to find a prison guard clothes set for Aiden that might have been cut from the game. BenJ30 then gave me his savegame a few missions before the prison one and I replayed it, managing to teleport all of the guards off to neverland. The prison was mine (and then it crashed) :)

LSPDFR Wish/ Want List
I think with GTA V the way we would do it would be to have 3 locations where you can go on duty. Firstly, there would be the LSPD station in Mission Row (the enterable one), where you would (hopefully) be able to use the locker room and armory there to go on duty as an LSPD officer. In addition to that, we'd probably have checkpoints outside the LScSD stations in Sandy Shores and Paleto Bay where you would be able to go on duty as a sheriff. I doubt that we'd be able to do much interior wise for them however. Initially I don't think it would make sense to weigh ourselves down by digging too deep into having different classes or roles, like pilots and detectives as this would make getting the core of the mod working much harder. Instead, it would be much like LCPDFR is where you can be a bit of everything. At least in 'LSPDFR' though, we'd have the distinction (even if it is small) between the LSPD and the sheriffs. Does GTA V let the player tackle people or have proper animations for it? If it does, that hopefully would be quite easy. Felony stops on the other hand are really nasty! Traffic in the game complicates them a lot. It'd be really nice to include something like them though. I would hope that this should be possible. This is another good idea. For the first time we would get to deal with rural crime, which sounds quite exciting. Of course, please don't be under the illusion that anything is guaranteed for GTA V. For all we know, it might be a nightmare to mod.

1.0c - No Better...
It really should get more stable with every patch though. We've added so many safety checks with each new patch and they should, theoretically speaking, go a long way in making the experience more stable with each new release. I highly recommend that you try LCPDFR 1.0c on a fresh copy of the game and see if you experience different results. If it works better like that, try adding your other mods back in one-by-one.

Speeding down the road like a bat cop out of hell. The protection offered by this board wasn't quite as special as some of the other things on it. I have to say, the tinted glass on all the windows is a really nice touch. Ubisoft did a good job with the police cars in this game.

I'm still researching stuff - the model changing by my script is very unstable. I have completed the Car on Demand application to replace all the 'heavy' vehicles except Firetruck and Ambulance with police cars - I'll share it soon.
