  1. Yeah, if you have update.rpf and the two EXEs, you can use mods. We do, we're okay. We've not looked at the update yet.
  2. We're okay for now. But, yes, these sorts of things will happen, and it is possible Rockstar will look to prevent modding considering what's happening in GTA Online. As far as I know the patch isn't intended to disable mods. Its just when a new version of the game is compiled, things change the code and modders have to accommodate their hooks for these changes.
  3. Just gonna leave this here.
  4. We're talking about cops arresting peds, not players. Arresting the player isn't much use to you from an LCPDFR/LSPDFR standpoint, unless you want the screen to fade out with the "BUSTED" text on it when you arrest someone and have that ped respawn at the police station.
  5. Mhm, this does is exist, but only in two locations under entirely scripted circumstances. When we think of an arrest, generally we think of it in the GTA IV context where the police in the game would arrest peds that attacked them or started fighting in front of them, etc. The key thing there is that it was an entirely dynamic and native behaviour - it could happen any time, any place. There are, as far as I know, only four circumstances in which peds can be 'arrested' in GTA V: Poppy, after her car chase, from the paparazzi missions. Amanda shoplifting The Park Ranger arrest in Grapeseed The other Park Ranger arrest near the windfarm. In all of these cases, they are entirely scripted events, almost like cutscenes. Indeed, you don't actually see Amanda getting arrested - she's always being put in the back of the car as you arrive, and Poppy's arrest is one single animation requiring the ped to be sitting on the road, and a car parked in an exact position ahead of them - hardly usable for any practical purposes. Yes, the park ranger arrest stuff might be usable, there are indeed some separate animations there, but there isn't any of the stuff that people have come to know and expect from LCPDFR. When I say cops in GTA V don't arrest - that is entirely correct. In these cases, they are not cops, but spawned mission characters assigned special animations. If you placed an actual cop beside the park ranger during this arrest, chances are they would just ignore it - as far as they're concerned, its just some peds doing animations.
  6. Combat is pretty good, a lot better than IV. You can easily spawn a lot more as well, the game is much more robust. You can spawn things more than a block away without having to worry about crashes. Driving is still terrible though.
  7. The map of North Yankton is too incomplete for that I think, but we do have a little bit of NYSP support already built in.
  8. Is this more visible? Or this?
  9. Everything like that is yet to be decided. Most likely we will do our best to get something out relatively soon, though.
  10. I understand, but unfortunately the cops in GTA V do not arrest AI suspects under any circumstances, even when using the designated AI arrest task. They simply execute people - this is something we'll need to work around, and considering the animation RPFs for GTA V haven't been exposed yet, we really don't know what we're working with from an animation standpoint beside the few that we've found already. The point remains though, everything in that trailer was artificially created, and I was hoping this would be obvious from the usage of the police cruiser and buffalo, to the speech with matching animations and the different agencies in the pursuit. Early stages? Yes. A trainer-clone like some other mods? 100% not. Honestly I'm not sure I should even have to get into detail like this. As far as I know, none of what was filmed can be done by anything other than LSPDFR. The game has been out for two weeks, and we've been coding for it for little over just one. I get that people might have had higher expectations from what we achieved with LCPDFR, but LCPDFR didn't even have working sirens on police cars at this point in its development.
  11. A trailer showcasing animations doesn't make for very good viewing, especially not for a first reveal. Was it a normal cop chase? No, every entity involved in the pursuit except the player was spawned by and was under the control of LSPDFR. GTA V doesn't dispatch the police buffalo or police cruisers in ambient chases. It also doesn't dispatch additional units to the chase either. Voiceovers? No, all in-game audio. Some of it from the AI, some from the player. Is it, all in all, fairly basic compared to LCPDFR? Absolutely, but what do you expect merely two weeks after the game was released?

  13. We're all thrilled to finally announce the development of LSPDFR for GTA V. Everyone here has been working like crazy to make progress with the modification and the website, and we're only just getting started. We hope that everyone enjoys the little taste of what we have in store with LSPDFR. Feel free to use this topic for speculation, discussion and questions. On behalf of the entire team, Sam.
  14. Please don't, Sam's need sleep too and they generally don't post previews when they are sleeping. Speaking of sleep...
  15. We've got some nice stuff to show you later on. The sort of stuff that keeps people like me up until 5 AM developing it!
  16. As far as suspects appearing on your map and stuff like that, that's nothing to do with wanted level. That's because peds which are attacking you in GTA V are marked on the radar in red. The only thing that being a cop model does is sets you into the same 'group' as the other cops. You can't shoot them, etc., and they will ignore you for the most part.
  17. As far as I can tell the involvement of female cops is exactly as R* intended. They actually lack a few of the animations and speech files that their male counterparts have, and I think this is intentional given their limited role in the game. If they were to actually respond to stuff and be dispatched, I think they would have more of these animations, voices and speech. I don't think they were cut at the last minute, I think they were either started on and then forgotten about (intentionally or otherwise) or simply implemented as intended. You might notice as well that the proportions of their model are messed up, too. The good news, though, is that there is more than enough to work with.
  18. Rockstar have barely said anything about modding so far. It'll be interesting to see how they react to the trainer making its way online. We will hopefully have some news to share really soon about topics closer to home, too.

  20. Wondering if anyone else can confirm this? For those of you that don't know, Directors Mode allows you to play as one of many peds from the game, including cops. It seems as though everything behaves as usual though, and playing as a cop doesn't mean anything. I've found that, however, the female sheriff's deputy seems to be able to get away with pretty much anything other than attacking or, god forbid, looking the wrong way at AI cops, however - going as far as being able to execute civilians right in front of them. You still get a wanted level, but its as though the AI cops can't see her, and eventually the wanted level disappears.
  21. They're totally coming back!
  22. We literally only just upgraded and haven't changed a single thing except the theme. Give us some time to bring back the structure and such!
  23. Only three days until its this time again!
