[Guide] How to get rid and avoid texture pop-ups (Disappearing assets)

Limiting the cars to around 20 MB seem to work. Did not make a long term test though. But for now I guess it does the trick 👌

I usually experience the texture loss after one and a half ingame days or many use of script menus. I had only two cars which exceeded the limit but this was enough I guess. I think there are more options which affect this texture issue...

@iMalcolm27

Do you know about other limitations in the files? (I know about the limit in the audio directory but maybe you know about limits in other common files like carvariations.meta / vehicles.meta / handling.meta / vehicles.rpf / wheels_mods / and so on ????)

    Thanks man. I'd done some stuff like this but never knew about that batch processor to really speed it up. Very handy!

Hello,
is it possible to reduce the yft files? I can't do it and I have some replacement vehicles where these files go more than 25 mo with the yft and yft hi accumulate.
I have this problem of pop up very annoying with 32go of ram i7 7700k and a gtx 1080ti.
thanks.

This does not delete the effect completely. However it reduces it. I think it has something to do with the amount of mods you are using ingame.

@samaelxx85

You cannot reduce the file size of the yft. To do so, the model must be unlocked and you have to rework it in zmodeler.

Your computer hardware does not matter. I use a i7 4770k with 16 GB Ram and a GTX 1070 and the less mods I use, the better the effect.

It´s a simple matter of how much the game can handle. You should get rid of these high powered cars... Sorry

I guess gameconfig can influence a lot. Im using the latest by Parks but i have no clue it has anything to do with my better performance. However you do have some CPU priority settings that, to me, caused little to none affect…. at least apparently.

Like darkblue said, unless you have an unlocked vehicle and zmoddler, which is paid, you wont be able to optimize those models

ok, thanks for your answers. Even with not a lot of mods, I still have this pop in of textures, I have to lower the textures to high in parameters to reduce this effect. However I only consume 4 GB of vram. Gameconfig can influence for this problem?

Isn't a problem if my car exceed a 20mb(yft+ytd) by 1 mb or so? Anyway back in the day on lspdfr 0.3 i didin't have any texture loses even with many car addons(i had even worse rig bag then). It has started from 0.4, i dont know if this lspdfr or r* itself fault.

As I understand it, the problem is the hard limit is 25mb per car (hi.ytf+ytf+ytd+hi.ydt), this is an R* thing, and a quick google shows this has been a problem since 2015 and probably since launch 2013. But car mods have gotten more shiny and with higher quality textures since then. 20mb is just the sweet spot iMalcolm27 recommends, and I try to get around there when adding/replacing cars.

I am curious if it's affected by the number of cars one has as replacements/addons. I don't experience the texture glitch when I only have a few cars added, but in the end I spend more time adding and trying out cars than actually playing the game, and when I'm finally happy and have my whole fleet replaced, bam there goes the textures.

Of course it could just be my old GTX 970 doesn't cut it, I do hear it's humming old CCR tunes every now and then.

I have done this  to get the cars I use to under 25 but some is over 20 but I’m thinking 20 I just a sweet spot so a few over shouldn’t make that much of a difference as long as it’s under 25 but for some reason I’m still get builds popping at a few minutes of playing it’s ok at the start so now Is it my pc maybe ?

Hi

  • 3 weeks later...

High detail vehicles added to LSPDFR will also severely effect performance, to anyone having issues with texture loss a simple solution is ensuring your "Main.PreloadAllModels" is set to "False" location in Gta V- lspdfr- lspdfr.ini

So my problem is that my largest size vehicle is only at 16.000. That’s the only vehicle and I’m still getting the loss. 😑
