Legal action isn't an option for me, even if I could I wouldn't waste my time on little children who can't feed themselves. I mod for the fun of it, its not a job, its a hobby that I do in my spare ti

  • That comparison between modders and GM/Ford;

nice

any chance for a different light bar or maybe a push bar

I will be making more versions as I said below the pic, this is just the first one.

It looks awesome!

I hope you're still going to have an LAPD version?

Aznairsoftdude is working on the LAPD ones

That looks epic Kevin! would love to see a setina bar & welan liberty bar on it.  btw is there any eta on the wrecker?

The wrecker was corrupted, I haven't gotten chance to fix it.

Could we be expecting one with a Whelen Liberty lightbar?  :whistling:

Or a rambar?

I'll make one with the Liberty and rambar a bit later on.

As for what c13 showed, I'll fix the mapping and update the model as soon as possible. Sorry about that bug.

Thanks KevinDV, I'm sure it will look good.

Okay guys, the roof mapping fault has been fixed, I've updated the old version so please re-download if you were having problems. I also fixed the chrome plate on the boot to have a proper chrome effect.

To everyone wanting other versions, I didn't have time this morning to fully explain this morning because I was limited on time, the PAPD version of the Caprice was the first. The other versions will come later but all of us are a bit busy this week, not to mention that Aznairsoftdude is considering leaving the scene for a while. I'll do my best to satisfy everyone's needs and requests to my best ability but please keep in mind that I'm very busy, I don't constantly monitor this thread.

@kevin it's not just a demo that is their new markings- I made this skin for the other caprice I used the shield number from a fallen officer(from 911) as my car number - I actually have about 15 skins so far

Great job on the car/skin

Here is my NYPD skin , this skin was designed after a friend of mine/co-worker who was lost on 9-11 the car number is his shield number and the command was his last we worked together as part of a surface crime unit

I made this skin along with PAPD and an FDNY skin

For those interested I also have the following skins:

NY State Police, Newtown Connecticut Police(for sandyhook first responders), Portland Oregon Police,Nevada State Police, FDNY HQ vehicle and a few more in the works

I'm not going to continue with doing US cars anymore since they're all being ripped and stolen by Reckless on the Strobe-Modding site. He stole the Caprice and Magnum models and also denies ripping because his little buddy by the name of "Tazzzjor" rips all his models for him.

Thanks to everyone who showed support during the development with the Caprice and other mods, but I'm done with it. I refuse to be used and mishandled merely because of what I'm capable of.

Really sorry to hear that man. Sometimes I can't stand the people in the shadows of the modding community.

Yeah, it only takes a few people to mess it up for everyone. But thanks for all of your models you have made KevinDV, we all appreciate it. Good Luck on your future projects!

Sucks that your going to scale back on the cars you make but I understand.

That is the same reason dodgeboy quit over on the nfs side all together, because all of his work kept getting stolen by guys like BPM and many others.

what's worse is people don't care if the car is stolen they download it anyway, then you websites who will host the car knowing it is stolen just to get good ratings.

I have to say you are one of the best guys out there and it's a shame that your stuff gets ripped off...well just so you know there are lot's of people out here that appreciate your work

JUST to let those stealing the work of others you CAN be prosecuted people think it's a joke but for those non believers I started a case against one thief but had to pull back because the author decided to just give up modeling and the owner of the model(yes even if it was purchased from any website you now own the right to that vehicle)

This is made possible because of the  Digital Millennium Copyright Act, which allows those who have had intellectual property stolen from someone to file a complaint against those who steal the models .

An investigation gets started and if found to be valid federal/international charges can be filed .

Those websites that host the mods can be shut down, even if it's just allowing a link to be posted I have currently filed a report about a link posted on this site to a car that was converted without the authors consent ,

which is also covered under the digital millenium act and is then considered stolen property

and the one posting the link (who in this case is refusing to give proper credits and remove the link) can also be prosecuted-

modders just need to get serious and start filing complaints against these guys and websites need to start banning these people and stop allowing links to these stolen cars to be posted here

To those who think this is just bullshit just sit back and wait , eventually all the modders are going to get fed up enough and join together and start filing these complaints and put an end to the thefts

Guys let's get together and stop downloading these stolen models

While I agree with you fully, its not as easy as you'd think to patent a 3D model you've created / converted.

This is because it would actually belong to the manufactuer such as a Crown Victoria model would rightful belong to Ford / General Motors as it has their badging and design which means claiming a patent on the model would be extremely difficult as you'd most likely have to contact Ford and obtain a license to use the vehicle which can be very costly.

I don't agree with people stealing eachothers models, its childish and shows no respect to the person who spent countless hours on the model,

Processor: Intel i5-6600 @ 3.30GHz

GPU: MSI ARMOR GeForce GTX 1080 OC

Ram: 16GB Skylake

Harper touched on this, but modding isn't as straight forward, at least not when we're using or creating models from the real world.

Game developers such as Turn-10 (Forza motorsport series) spend a lot of money, time and effort into getting cars officially licensed, it's a long and difficult process involving many lawyers on both sides to ensure that either party aren't screwed over.

Modders aren't licensing cars or equipment from the real-life manufacturers when they create models. Modders rely on the license holders to not act upon the license infringement.

We can't take someone to court because we didn't create the content, we don't hold the license. Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, Whelen, Federal Signal, Code3 and pretty much any company can contact the Community Team and ask us to remove their content and we would be legally obliged to do so (DMCA). Modders rely on each other to not screw them over.

Police forces could also ask us to remove any mods depicting their agency, I recall reading about a US police force doing so to a GTA:SA mod.

I assume that license holders haven't taken any action against the various modding communities because the work is free, modders aren't making any money from it, I'm sure they would be filing DMCA takedown requests if someone created car models(CVPI, Impalas) and charged money for them.

Legal action isn't an option for me, even if I could I wouldn't waste my time on little children who can't feed themselves. I mod for the fun of it, its not a job, its a hobby that I do in my spare time.

I'm not leaving if that's what some may think, I'll still do mods like the South African Police and the European cars. The main problem is that I put so much time and work into the Caprice and its honestly really disappointing for me to see all that hard work taken from me within a few minutes by some disrespectful ripper. People such as them call us selfish and unfair for keeping our work to ourselves, but after putting so much effort into something I believe that it is my choice to decide whether I'd like to give something out or not. The same goes for any modder, its what keeps those unique aspects in modding.

In the past I wasn't really hit bad by the ripping saga, but now its gotten way over the limit. I've been taunted, pushed into a corner, and totally disrespected by Reckless to the extent where I refuse to make/release any more American style vehicles due to the risk of them being ripped and then leaked out by people such as him. He does credit, and seems to think that crediting justifies everything including the ripping. Most people wouldn't understand how it feels until it actually happens to them.

Disrespect and thieves are the diseases killing the communities.

i dont think you guys understand what he trying to say

what gatekeeper was trying to tell modders was to get copyrights not patents

patents belong to original creator of designs and engineering and what not

a copyright is something anyone can hold on nearly anything

for example if i were to take a picture of a crown vic and post it online i would have copyrights of that photo even though a crown victoria was used in the photo

the same can be applied to model, a modeler makes a scratch made car model and he can copyright the model, not the design of the model but the 3d rendition of the model it's self. reasoning being that the modeler can copyright the model and not get in trouble is because that modeler created the 3d rendition of the model from scratch and not ford or chevy or dodge and therefore owns the rights to that 3d rendition of the model. this is how turbo squid is allowed to have 3d artist create 3d things and sell them and not get into legal trouble and be able to copyright their models.

the problem with gta modding is that very few people would be able to copyright models since mostly everything is shared and passed around. there's very few people who know how to scratch make something and make it look nice. also another problem with that is nearly everything is converted to gta from another game or 3d website(NFS, turbo squid....etc) so being able to get copyrights on something that is already copyrighted would be a long and difficult process for nothing really in hopes that people dont steal your model and try to charge for it, let alone most likely not possible, but on the issue of the dodge magnum and the chevy caprice, the dodge magnum came from nfs hot pursuit and was ripped by evi and the chevy caprice model came from turbo squid, both model are already under copyrights which make trying to gain access to a copyright on those models pointless.
