The latest updated version of RAGE Plugin Hook, required to play LSPDFR, can be found inside the LSPDFR download. It is not currently available on the RAGE Plugin Hook website.

Who would like the Cop Helicopter to NOT shoot at suspects?

Pretty sure I figured out how to make the helo do everything it normally does except fire on suspects.

There are 2 things I can do:
 

1) Take away cop helo ability to use a weapon on suspects from the air
OR
2) Give helo cops a weapon, but limit the amount of ammo to 3 or 5 shots.

Please give me your thoughts, if no one seems interested I wont bother, but one thing that always bothered me about role playing was a helicopter cop would rarely fire on a suspect. I have seen maybe one or two cases where a sniper fired on a suspect from a chopper, but that was one shot, not multiple shots onto a moving vehicle during midday traffic.

UPDATE: This is referring to NOOSE called backup, not simple police choppers.

They don't shoot for me. When I call local or NOOSE air support, they will just stick around. However, when the suspect starts shooting, the gunners of the helicopter will do so too. But this doesn't happen very often.

Are you sure? Anytime I've gotten 3 stars they have fired at me and when playing LSPDFR I have had the choppers shoot at vehicles I was after in a pursuit.

This was about a month ago.

This doesn't happen to me usually. If it does, it's only if the suspect used their gun, as I said.

Okay, let me change the question, Would you like NOOSE choppers to fire on suspects? I think even NOOSE doing it is far from realistic. Not that they do it, but the amount they fire and where they fire at.

Modifying the backup.xml should help. Give the NOOSE air support helicopters that are not armed. You can also set armed helicopters to be considered as unarmed so they don't shoot.

Also if you don't want to have any gunners in a helicopter, just reduce the number of peds to 1 or 2.

thanks i will do that, its not that i dont want them to shoot, its just DONT BLOW the suspects up.

Yeah, as I said, switching the Buzzard with some unarmed helicopter should help in that case. Or if you want to keep the armed one but don't want the helicopter, but rather the gunners to shoot, set the IsArmed tag to "no".

that helped alot now i can finally play this realistically thanks alot

 

 

Native GTA 5 police choppers will shoot suspets, the ones that patrol around randomly. Since 3.0 police peds/vehicles around the area will automatically join a pursuit.

The reason I was asking is I was working on a realism mod and came across the files that control what police helicopters are loaded with. Saw the Carbine rifle setting (on the choppers loadout) with infinite ammo and decide to see if I removed that or changed it to 3 rounds. It works great.
This would only modify single player and LCPDFR experiences, not multi-play of course.
Any one interested or is this something that has already been done?

Yeah that would be cool! Sometimes i'll force a 3 star wanted level so they don't loose me with the helicopter. But then they start shooting and it gets out of hand fast.

Simple install something else that doesn't shoot. NOOSE support will kick everyone's ass. My NOOSE is a regular air unit with a sheriff texture and sheriff SWAT guys.

Visit me on youtube. The most common reason for crashing is user error. Make sure you have the latest RAGE, ScripthookV, ScripthookVdotnet and turn off your antivirus. Make sure you have an up to date gameconfig.xml as well. Use Allbo's plugin troubleshooter to find any errors too. 


 

 

So long as these ridiculous bullet proof armored cars and the Trevor-On-A-Rampage events are in the game, we'll need armed NOOSE helicopters. The AI shooting accuracy is pretty bad anyway, so giving them three shots wouldn't be a great solution to anything you consider to be overpowered.

I think that's the issue. My backup XML is set so that local and NOOSE heli have only one person inside and on top of it I have set IsArmed as no to make sure no one will shoot at suspects yet I still have air units shooting at people evading from a simple traffic stop...

Is there any way to calm down the heli units patrolling the city?

Where we're going, we don't need signatures.
