It's a good day for GTA:O Players - It's not so good for us..

The new DLCย for Grand Theft Auto V came out this morning, and it's really cool, but now it's going to break ScriptHookV, ScriptHookVDotNet, andย RPH. I really hope the new versions for those 3 come out soon. Also, it's most likely going to break my "mods" folder that I can use with OpenIV. Here are some of the things I use in the "mods" folder....

police (Crown Victoria)
police2 (Chevy Impala)
police3 ( Ford Explorer)
police4 (Crown Victoria Unmarked)
sheriff (Crown Victoria)
sheriff2 (Ford Explorer)
fbi2 (Chevy Tahoe)
fbi (Unmarked Impala)
LSPD Ped Model (Belt)
LSSD Ped Model (Patches)
Husky (K9 Skin)
Train (Norfolk Skin
Train Container x2 (Realistic Skins)
Some civilian vehicles.. (Can't remember all)

I really really hope I don't have to re-install everything. Finding the vehicle would be one thing, editing carvariations / handling would be another thing, and finding the seperate skins for LAPD (since every police vehicle is LAPD & LASD themed) would be another thing.

I need some motivation!!

I'd genuinely like to see where you're getting this sort of information from, I mean, besides from your ass.ย

First, let me say I fucking despise what GTA Online has done to this series. With that said, you shouldn't have to worry. I've checked through the files, and it just added two files named "mpluxe2" under dlcpacks and dlcpatch. So all of our cop car and gun and sound effect and all those types of mods should be fine. The only existing thing in the game that was modified seems to be one of the strippers and Dave Norton. But thats all I got out of a quick 15 minute check. I may have missed something. I'm still very new to the wat GTA Vs files are organized, I really do miss the simplicity of modding GTA IV...

it adds new stuff so when you try to use mod folder without whatever the update addedย it crashes and im really starting to hate rockstar gta online is for mindless kids who cant afford a pc its not fun

Your information is wrong.

New update touches gta5.exe, gtavlauncher.exe, and update.rpf (so all mods in update.rpf will need to be reinstalled)...

Also adds folders under dlcpacks - mplowrider, mphalloween, patchday7ng. I'm still using a backup and playing the old version just fine though.

Tell me how to do this. How do you play an old version without it updating automatically? And how could a new DLC affect things in the mods folder???

sorry if im wrong but doesent actually scripthook take the files that are missing in the mods folder from the normal root so we dont have to completly reinstall our mods and dont have to update the update.rpf from the mods folderย ?ย

What you said makes little sense.

I'm not sure how so. He's pointing out that the "revolutionary" always-on multiplayer bullsh*t like this and that of previous games such as Call of Duty Modern Warfare: 2 cater to console people, and he's ridiculing them as people who can't afford a PC. I'd argue that last part is onlyย partially true;ย I don't know if that's the sole reason consoles are dominant in the gaming world. I'd say it's cost vs. effectiveness. Consoles have a significantly longer lifespan because the hardware remains largely unchanged for the lifespan of the generation (previous gen was about 8 years), and they're easier to buy and forget. PCs have someย distinctย advantages over consoles, but because of the constant need to upgrade and maintain your PC, pouring lots of money into it if you want to keep graphics and performance at tip-top levels (a new PC or majorly overhauled PCย every 3-4 years is required for that); they're not the major market. PC users are treated as an afterthought for a reason; it's because we are an afterthought.

Okay, to put it simply, if you use a mods folder, and you have mods in \mods\update\update.rpf - they're all going to have to be reinstalled. Why? Because Rockstar patched that update.rpf... so if you try to launch the game with that old update.rpf, it'll crash... so you need to copy the newly patched update.rpf to your mods folder and then reinstall any mods that go into update.rpf.

Or alternatively, you can play with a backed up version of 493.1 (the version prior to this patch)

With steam version, you let it update, then you copy the old files back into the game folder (GTA5.exe, GTAVLauncher.exe, \update\update.rpf... in this case)

ok sorry was thinking my solution shouldย workย :D

Alright, but what about keeping all my old mods and then just putting them back. Lets say I replace the entire update.rpf file in the mod folder, but keep my mods like the police cars and handling.meta and all that stuff in a desktop folder, then put them back in, that will work right? Either way sounds like a huge pain in the ass, but it sounds like car and gun and ped mods will still work, but no plugins or scripts, right?

Most police car mods don't go into update.rpf... they go into places like x64e.rpf, or \update\x64\dlcpacks\patchday3ng, \update\x64\dlcpacks\patchday4ng, etc.. and those files were not patched, so they're good.ย

To be perfectly clear, only mods that are directly installed into update.rpf (For example Improved Spotlights and Coronas or a direct handling.meta mod) will need to be reinstalled to play on the new version of the game.

Someone should find a way to get rid of this always online shit. I'd like to completely skip all further DLC updates. I wonder if Rockstar realizes %90 of the people who play this game on PC only play it for LSPDFR and could give a rats ass about the horrible story mode or pointless multiplayer mode...?

So I need to start installing my car mods into the X64e? I install all my mods into the update folders......Will make my life a whole lot easier since I'm modding more and moreย cars lol...

Although. after dropping 1.1 million on a Voodoo lowrider...I gotta say I am more than pleased with this dlc...

Some car mods that go into x64e.rpf still needs correct configurations in update.rpf so I recommend to revertย to the old version but lowriders are of plenty of fun whatsoever
