I think files should be verified first before they are available for download.

Any mod that has a virus and gets past our automatic virus scanner wouldn't have been picked up by a staff member either. We are not all coding experts, we can't reverse engineer every script to see if it has a virus, and we would still rely on virus scanning software. The only difference would be whether the mod was available to download immediately or hours later.

About 2-5 files are posted per day so I don't think it's a big deal. And they don't need to do every file from the past they can start now.

You could ask any moderator that was active while files needed to be approved - this isn't always the case. There were times when I went through and dealt with 20 pending files in one sitting, I know Illusionary has done the same.

Yep. The normal approval work load was around 6-12 files per day, and more often than not we'd have to deal with 15-20 files all at once. Half of those did not meet our upload guidelines either, meaning file approval took even longer.

If you aren't completely retarded, you can easily hide your bad code from being detected by AV-Scanners. More importantly though, you can also hide it from the user. Simple example: A keylogger doesn't necessarily phone home the second it is started. Maybe it collects data and waits a day or two to upload it somewhere? How is the team supposed to check this? Not even AV-Companies can do it properly. If you are not sure about a file, rely on what you rely in real life as well: Trust. If you trust the member, download it. If you don't, well then don't. Unfortunately there's not much we can do.

All you really had to say is that there's really nothing you can do, simple as that.

Hacker numbers grow everyday, Virus types go up everyday, Stealthiness of viruses is growing along with those.

What you have now is the best you can get. Manual File Approvi won't help that, in fact, It may make the virus makers try to hide it even more.
