I think Code 2 is generally accepted to be a higher priority response than Code 1 but still without lights or sirens.  I think most commonly Code 2 is used to assist with traffic stops, etc. and while the response is meant to be quick, it isn't an emergency situation.

I believe it is quite common for a response with lights but not sirens (especially in cases where sirens are turned off when near the scene) to be termed Code 3 Silent instead.

Code 2 generally means (and by generally, I mean how it's used in Adam-12 and other police shows) you respond without lights or sirens, following all normal traffic laws. In LSPDFR, that is what it will mean. Code 3 is lights/sirens, but that doesn't mean you have to have the siren on the entire time you're responding. There's no need for a siren on a mile long stretch with no traffic, regardless of how bad the situation you're responding to is.

I don't see a need for a "code" to signify "lights, using the siren to clear an intersection." It should be up to the officer to decide when he needs the siren.

Thanks for clearing up the different 'codes' in LSPDFR

  • Guys, come on, we all know that isn't a real countdown.  You just used a trainer for it!

  • The anticipation is killing me.  Preparations going well so far, however...

  • ... Kind of speechless that people are getting this demanding for something that is being pretty much created as a hobby result from a few very skilled coders.  We are looking at weeks, not months til

what countdown?, I can't see a countdown just numbers on top of the page. Must be some sort of secret of code of some sorts.

It's like the 3D pictures, you have to stare at the numbers for a few minutes and then you will see the same thing we are seeing.

It varies by department, let alone country. Every department has its own particulars about response rules. Also 10 codes aren't even universal.. Most overlap but a decent number mean different things to different locales.

Typically every responder uses judgment on how to respond unless specifically noted. So code 1 may very well mean full Rambo while 3 could be just lights on to clear intersections and then nada. There is no universal procedure nor is it binding. Department policy is just that, and there are over 18000 departments in the USA alone.

Spot on. Here in Australia our codes are reversed I.e code (or priority) 1 is the most urgent response, and typically lights and sirens stay on for the entire time - even at 3 am with no traffic.

Im still confused though about the timer. Its a joke, right? But if it is, is there even a release date or is it just going to be Soon

I also draw issue with (not trying to start a debate) "police shows", y'all should keep in mind, that's HOLLYWOOD!, hell, if you pay attention, 90+% of the "COPS" don't wear vests under their tops as everyday cops do.  Hollywood is not a true representation of real police, so PLEASE keep that in mind when you use POLICE SHOWS as an example unless it's COPS (formerly on FOX, now on SPIKE).

Well see, shows like Adam-12 are very accurate at its time. That's why he's using it as an example. It's not like the CSI bullshit on television nowadays.

Agreed with everything you say, however, like I stated in my original post, things differ from agency to agency, not to mention era to era.  I was taking issue with the statement "police shows" and not the Adam-12 part.

I guess my area is weird. We use ten codes (not 10- codes as in 10-1 through 10-99, but code 1, code 2, code 3 etc. through code 10) solely for radio traffic. A code 2 is the actual action of making a traffic stop and when a large event (like a pursuit) is in progress a code 3 is placed on the channel meaning only radio traffic relevant to the event is allowed. Actual speed of response is simplified to 'emergency' and 'non emergency', or shortened to 'emergent' and 'non-emergent'. It's actually quite nice because when you're in the s*** there are only 10 codes to remember, everything else is plain speech.

My department doesn't even use codes really. Instead of code 4, it's "Show me clear from call."

Wait, why are we dragging a conversation about 10 codes. Is that even what the original question was about? This is a topic about the LSPDFR modification, not a dummy's handbook to police codes.

I was adding my $0.02 about code 2 and 3 and put in that we used ten radio codes, not to be confused with 10-codes. I'll be back on topic from here, very excited for the release.

Any tips on how to distract me/pass the time until the release?

I've been playing other games to pass time, Fallout:NV, Witcher 3, occasionally I'll get on GTA 5 and play from the criminal point of view to get a taste of pursuits and stand offs, or just drive around the map souping up random cars (you can do it for free if you buy the LS customs as franklin)

Play games that consume time like prison architect. Time has gone by so fast for me playing that game.

To everyone wondering whether the countdown is actually there, @Sam just confirmed on Facebook that it is a joke and that it is actually there, so you can stop screaming your heads off at them now!

(I KNEW IT WAS A JOKE)

That's me posting (Sam rarely use the Facebook Page) and the joke wasn't about the countdown at all. Taken a bit out of context. The issue at hand here was I, jokingly, said he might want to make sure he is feeling well, and the user threw a temper tantrum. Someone had to intervene and cool the situation down.

Again. What countdown?

Invenio, Investigatio, Imperium

Again. What countdown?

Ayy LMAO HE STRIKES AGAIN. I am starting to enjoy this. Sorry for acting pissy the other day :)
