I love how everyone is so mad that Rockstar is releasing free content. If it was any other company, you would need a season pass or premium or whatever to get this content. I know those of you that don't play online don't give a shit, but these content updates are actually good. Sure, they temporarily break modding, but even games that support modding do that. Everytime Minecraft is updated, the mods need to be updated. Every time Euro Truck Simulator 2 is updated, the mods need to be updated (well not all mods, but the more complicated ones do). The GTA modding community needs to stop being entitled little pricks.

So, the DRM stuff mentioned isn't actually as bad as people assume, right? Will scripthooks and the Ragehook be back up and running with this update within a day or two?

Ah'm orderin' you to STAHP!

The GTA modding community needs to stop being entitled little pricks.

That was pretty offensive. What crawled up your ass?

"The modding community just needs to get used to barriers" would of sufficed.

Speaking as someone who has had serious bugs be fixed by previous GTA V updates, I really can't get into the spirit of the "Rockstar shouldn't patch their game." Look at the patch notes; there are a lot of fixes, many of which do not appear to be Online-specific.

Wasn't referring specifically to you or any other person, just a general observation. One that can be applied to a lot of other "communities" on the internet as well.

Perhaps, but like I said above, it's a general observation that can be made about most of the internet.

Will isn't wrong. The amount of rage against Rockstar is at most times understandable, but come on, they don't deserve all of it. Bottom line is; Rockstar does not care about Singleplayer mods. At all. If they change a few natives here and there, or DRM them, it's to protect GTA Online not break singleplayer modding even though one thing leads to another.

I'm not a developer so I couldn't say, but I imagine it shouldn't take too long.

That's great, hopefully people are overreacting about this after all and all our wonderful mods cough LSPDFR cough will be back up and working fine soon :D

Thing is, Rockstar deserves all the crap people are giving them. Why don't they care about single player? It's half of their game. It's extremely important. That's like having 2 kids and only caring about one. What really hurts is that they went out of their way to make sure mods don't work. They could've added this content without screwing with the hashes and DRM. They have the resources to have this update without messing with mods, but instead they stab the modding community in the back. We help make the game better, and they reward us by messing with community creations. This update hurt more people than it helped. Shame on Rockstar

The protections against modding are aimed more at those people who use the mods online, rather than single player modders. They can't completely stop us from modding, it may just take some time. If they didn't protect against GTA Online modding, it'd be ruined. I personally enjoy GTA Online, and I'm happy they're doing what they can to slow down/prevent modding online.

Until then, does anyone know how to play the steam version of GTA V without it updating? I try using offline mode, but it tells me to update before I can play it.

This update wasn't about stopping online modders, if it was then rockstar would've REALLY messed things up. I'm just mad about how rockstar stabbed the modding community in the back after all the mods that were made. Especially since rockstar has the resources to make the update work without messing with mods

Exactly the problem. They are too focused on Online and stupid Shark cards, so they try to keep hackers off. They are in a loosing arms race, only really affecting SP mods while Online hackers keep multiplying.

So basically before you update the game to the newest patch, you should back it up? I'm too afraid to update it to the newest version.

Backed my game folder separately just in case it updates it without my knowledge. So, I personally have faith its gonna be fixed sooner or later. Its just a matter of time until we reach there! So thumbs up everyone! :)

I mean, I want to update my game. I like to keep things updated, but, I don't want that to ruin my chances of getting to enjoy LSPDFR whenever it is released. Are they going to work around this patch or what? I'm a little confused haha.

Mods vs one hell of a changelog. Tough choice if you have been suffering from one of the issues in that behemoth.

Two common complaints from many:

  • Fixed several issues with memory leaks that may have caused the game to crash after running for long periods of time.
  • Fixed an issue which caused PC players to get the error "Your account has been logged in elsewhere".
