The Final Countdown - LSPDFR Trailer 2

I don't think that the first version of LSPDFR will have an API. It would be great actually but I doubt it. Maybe our holy Sam can help answering this question. :P

@Sam

Even if it doesn't have a plugin manager, people can still write "standalone" scripts till then (braveheart for example, is a really legit callout manager thats independent).  I think I have seen some things in the API that deal with onwership for stuff also in regards to handing things off to LSPDFR - we'll see.

I've got some pretty sick ideas I cannot wait to get started on.  Lately just been coding the EMS thing because its giving me the chance to learn how to do everything.  I really look forward to making some stuff (... if I have any free time - been really damn busy lately.)

Another weekend about to start, still hyped and excited, fingers crossed lol

I watch your videos! They're awesome keep up the good work man!

Its the weekend.  Time to start the release hype train. Choo

I hate to be the penny that derails the train, but my GTA V on steam just updated with 16.7 MBs worth of something. I'm not getting my hopes up.

I'd really like to be proven wrong though. :whistling:

it's all the stupid textures and guns they added. Also you can have cigars and champagne now in GTA O.....sooo impressive *sarcastic clapping*

"I love you all, and that's why we don't get caught doing naughty things!" - GTA V Heist Dude.

I' ve moved from pretending to enjoy looking at badminton.

Now I be playin it...

Lack of arresting innocent people in video games can lead to insanity. Wait with caution.

There won't be anything like this in the first version (other than a nice character customisation screen), and I don't really want to spoil our plans for later versions!

An interesting question actually.  The custom pursuit AI is one of the things I spent the most time on during development, although it'd be hard to give an accurate estimate of how long it took to make, as it went through quite a few revisions and rewrites, although it was only just completed at the start of the week and had been in development since about a week after the first announcement.  This doesn't necessarily mean it is the best AI in the world, as developing things 2 weeks after the release of the game was pretty hard with so many unknowns.

Im assuming when you go and select a car you are greeted with a sexy interface with cop cars in the background :D?

I think a general ranking system would not be too good. I dont want bigd-contests or something like that. Also you have a higher variety of Rp if you can switch between duys that would normally be rank-restricted (such as supervisor, undercover, or specialized units) with out ranking up for them.

However a rank up system will probably bee a nice feature too. Probably in a way that you can decide if you want to have it on or off. Ranks could in deed be a nice Rp-feautre and maybe an additional motivation. However it has to be settled up in a careful way; if you would decide to have ranks at all, you would need to regard clans etc. who might want make their own choices in terms of promotions and such. I mean MP is unfortunately not a thing so far but i heard the 5M team and probably some independent modders are working on private multiplayer sessions. But well yeah.. that could take some time. Also i dont think that the rank system is the number one priority. Keep on going and focus on the essential stuff. All the fine settings are a  nice bonus for later on.

Cant wait for further info about this mod. Keep it going:D

MrMarsh I couldn't agree more with your post.  I was hoping that since GTA V is far more stable than IV that we could have a built in option to switch specific parts of the mod on or off so the individual gamer can decide.  I agree about the ranking and people trying to drum up who's better but since GTA Online doesn't seem to be an option I don't think this would be a big issue if there is a editable cfg file.  There are also work around for clan RP that can be built into a career type mode as well should Online ever get up and rolling.  I also hope the team hasn't dismissed these ideas completely.

Career Mode: Gives the player the choice choose a department, rank and area to cover almost like a single player game.  It will allow the player to work up through a ranking system determined by the development team but will have a config file where players can adjust specifics to their liking.  This way they can make ranking faster, or slower depending on what gaming style they like.  Also having the option to turn this feature on or off will allow players to decide whether they like it or not.  I don't see the harm in it as long as it has a toggle feature and doesn't force players into the RP if they don't want to.

As far as RP Clans go the only thing you would need would be the ranking feature with an editable cfg file where they can choose specifics or just allow the players to manually put in their rank according to their own guidelines at the start of the game.  Should a stat tracking become available I'm sure that's all you would really need for online RP I would think.

If I was able to help you in anyway please click the like button!

Not interested in any type of stat tracking or progression.  Once I started coding I went from 300 chases to 3000 in a week or so from testing, all because I forgot to turn it off.  I'd rather have them invest the energy into better AI logic, better suspect handling (arresting, questioning, detaining, and so forth), and more stock callouts, then have some type of rank tree I'll be able to climb.  I can see your point of view in terms of it adding more to the player that wants to feel in the role, but even if your a shift Sgt, or a Lt... all its going to be is a rank picture in a game, not like I'll really get to dictate what units go where and control them in terms of running a shift.

Before everyone gets mad at the post - keep in mind, its a opinion - just like yours is.

This, 100%.

I think (especially in such an early phase of developement) there's a lot of things that are more important and should be focused on instead of making some kind of rank system. I'd also think it's not the easiest thing to make, that rank thing, and not all that many people seem to think it's necessary.

For LSPDFR, I'd like to see a greater variety of callouts, including taking reports, taking witness statements at a hit and run, or controlling traffic at a building fire, etc. I would like to see that once you take the report, later you may (or may not) come across this vehicle in the city. I'd also like to see random BOLOs be dispatched throughout the day, having those run in the background while you continue your normal patrol.

I'm sad,,, even though I know that Sam and all the other devs are working their asses off to get us the best possible mod they can for this initial release, I still want it YESTERDAY!!!!!

PLEASE Sam,,, another video so that you can drop some more of that CRACK that y'all call LSPDFR into our veins?

I think the warrant system could use more detail to be honest

For example, if you conduct a standard traffic stop, you ask the driver for ID

You run the ID through your computer and find this: Joe Johnson, BD: 07/29/1983, pulled over 6 times, 4 citations, 2 active warrants (Possession of an illegal firearm, Possession of an illegal substance).

Now you know that this suspect is dangerous and may be armed, you train your spotlight on the car infront of you, you exit your cruiser pull out your weapon aim at the car, and yell for the suspect to open the door  slowly walk backwards towards you, get on their knees facing forward with their hands on their head. Slowly approach the suspect and cuff him, put him in the back of your car, and proceed to search his car/trunk for possible illegals.

I think knowing what kind of warrants a perp is wanted for would breath more life into the traffic stop system and make each one more dynamic, you could just assign random warrants to every perp you stop with some warrants (like murder etc.) being more rare than others

What are you guys' thoughts? :D
