I admit they are biased, but sadly it is true.  Maybe you guys don't agree on saying Obama is a communist, but anyone with common sense must agree that we have a shady and untrustworthy administration under President Obama.  I also know for many people, this fact is a bitter pill to swallow.  By the way,  is there anything that isn't biased?

in essence this was done to quell the loud moans of people saying the government is trying to take over the country. In alot of cases, citizens place cops and government in the same bowl unfairly. This is so two-sided..there are those people who will say "omg they are coming to kill us and take our guns" then the next batch "they are taking our equipment so we will get killed by criminals".

there is no easy answer to this. for law abiding citizens with their heads on straight and no intention of committing a crime, the current police department equipment is just fine. for those who are expecting a government takeover or those who belong to a militia or a hardcore member of the NRA will complain we don't have enough equipment because it infringes on our rights.

my opinion is that the President, regardless of who is in office, did the right thing. With all this crap going on about police brutality, i can't see how providing military equipment to officers could possibly ease the burden they are already currently under. Military grade equipment is just that..military grade equipment and that is exactly how it should stay.

TBH, the US government has never been perfect. There has always been corruption and there will always be corruption, and that is in any government, any community, society, group, etc. That's just how life works. Because people are retarded. Its been proven countless times throughout history that the people can't be left to know what's best for them. They complain about something, then complain when that something is changed. The people don't know what they want, nor have they ever known. I say we just let law enforcement do its job.

Wether it comes from a mounted gun or a pistol, the result will be the same, so a handgun or a semi-automatic rifle is more than enough for this kind of task.

The guy might try to take as many people with him as possible and if a police officer is able to have equipment that offers more protection and allows him to neutralize the threat from a greater distance then he should have that. If there is a guy shooting everyone in sight I would rather be able to take him down from 100 meters away rather than 3 meters away.

Just let police do their jobs.  If there is a sicko shooting people, the police will take them down with everthing they have.  Why would you include a high risk factor? Neutralizing the shooter as quick as possible is the prime objective.  Lower grade equipment only results in a higher factor of police an civilian casualties.

Under the logic that some seem to be arguing, let's also remove jets from the military. They can cause collateral damage. Let's also remove grenades. They can cause property damage. Let's also take away their tanks, it can ruin farmland. 

This is is very stupid and as said several times, we need to just let the police do their job. Once the police start rolling armored vehicles down the street, crushing buildings, shooting people at random, and launching grenades into school; then I'll support the removal of their tools. But guess what? The police aren't doing that, and they've saved countless lives with the tools that they currently possess.
