Think about it before answering. I've seen mixed feelings on LCPDFR's politics board. Do you think the politics board allows for an open-minded and calm discussion between members? Or does it only split the community and tear it's members farther and farther apart?

Edit: Removed last option to create more relevant votes.

Removed? No, definitely not.   It does need some serious guidelines though. I'm sick of seeing half assed copy and paste news articles that only spark tensions between members.

I wouldn't say it should be closed, but I don't think it should be used as much as it is now.

Yeah I agree, it used to be kind of funny but it's getting old and redundant. I will no longer be posting topics in the politics section unless it's something unique and worth discussing.

If it was removed, you wouldn't have any topics to post. So why would you want it removed?

If you're talking to me, I don't really care either way, doesn't affect my life.

Removing the Politics board would just transition the threads into the General & Miscellaneous section.  The same threads would still be made, just in a different place.

I see what you're saying, but we all know who the few members are that consistently create controversial topics, it isn't some sort of mystery. I am one of them, and I will no longer be posting topics. This leaves only 2 or 3 more members that constantly post topics.

Oh shit! Shots fired!

---------------------------------

But I agree there are about 3 members that post religiously on that board and think it's Buzzfeed.

Shots fired is correct my good man.

Absolutely not!

Without the politics board, how will members be able to post news topics? The moderators here can only do so much and if a topic is being derailed, report it, they can't be there 24/7 and they also have lives.

I still don't understand why people constantly bicker and whine about the politics section. If you don't like the politics section, then don't participate in it. No one is asking you to comment and participate in the discussion.

i dont mind reading the news, we have the every right to express ourselves in anyway becasue of our freedom of expression but if it starts to spew hatred get rid of it. it was hard to comment on someone elses post on the evolution forum but i refrained from commenting on it out of respect for the poster one of the comments. i sometimes have strong opinions that may differ from others but that also doesnt make me right.  i also refuse to deface or upset anyone on here this is a forum for all of us to share. but i do believe if you cannot act appropriately maybe you should be banned from that topic and you should  be banned from that particular section and not the forums. it really should depend on how the mods want to run this as well which is up to them its there job to do what they need to do to keep everyone happy and safe on here.

I have a question for both of you: To Illusion, so are saying that when a news topic is posted, the guidelines should be (okay you can post a news story, but don't copy and paste the news article, just the link itself)?

To Ini: I need some clarification, you're saying that we can post a news topic but only if it abides by the community guidelines?

It really does need a set of guidelines. I've seen a lots of post's removed because they weren't acceptable.

And as stated above, not everything needs to be posted, talking about sexuality, abortion, religion etc. on a forum about a police mod for GTA IV

What I said was that maybe some topics shouldn't be posted, because they do not belong into the general theme of LCPDFR.com or because they are too provocative.

What I mean by this is put some bloody effort in. Don't just directly copy bits of it and leave a link. I'll use one of CriminalKillaz's threads and one of mine as an example. And no, I'm not trying to put you on the spot CK but your topic is a prime example of what I'm venting about.

CriminalKillaz's post is an eyesore (if you're going to copy bits at-least use the plain text option so the text format is dropped) and almost none of it is in his own writing, he hasn't explained what's going on nor has he tried to engage the community. Whereas with my post, I've taken the time to explain what the topic is about and what's happening in the video, in my own words. I've then linked the article and video below and asked a question to the community. I'm not saying you have to ask a question every time but at-least try to engage a proper discussion somehow.

In addition to this, some topics just really don't need to be on this website. LCPDFR.com is about a modification for a video game. It's not fucking BuzzFeed or whatever shit people use nowadays.

I totally get what you're saying, I myself am a big political science fan, which is why I actively take part in the politics section, but this is a modding site revolving around GTA and the police so I get it, but even if the politics section is removed I still have youtube to go to, the only problem is that there is a lot of immature people on there (then again it all really depends what channel you're on) and this website has fewer immature people on here than YouTube, probably because YouTube has a billion members. Just my thoughts.

Ah, thank you illusion, I agree with the whole buzzfeed thing, I just don't understand why can't people watch and comment on buzzfeed videos if that is there preference, right now I'am currently subscribed to buzzfeed video and buzzfeed blue and many other educational channels, perfect channels for me and not LCPDFR related.

I see what you're saying. Though I usually don't see much of a point to writing about the article in my own words. I figured why take the time to write about a news article when I can post the first few sentences and have everyone read it for themselves? A lack of care and time work hand in hand when it comes to my descriptions for article posting. I just simply don't care enough, nor do I have the time to write a full blown description. I am regularly on LCPDFR.com because I enjoy chatting with people that share common interests as I do, though I very rarely have the time to sit there and type a full blown description on something. As stated, I usually post the first few sentences along with my own personal opinion on the matter. When I post topics, my goal is to ignite a friendly, open-minded, calm, mature discussion between members on a very controversial hot topic. What usually happens is that people get offended, angry, closed-minded, aggressive, and immature. This is where I begin to find humor and entertainment in what the internet brings to the table as far as my personal life goes.
