  • What kind of medic can refuse the help to anyone? "Religious belief", what the hell? Say, I'm an atheist and my surgeon is Catholic when I'm in some real trouble?    America turns into Russia real f

This is more of an opinion, what I've put in bold. I agree that it's retarded to refuse to save someones life because of their sexuality, but whether or not their sexuality is right depends solely on

In which era are we living in? Middle Age? The more we go in time, the more we see appearing inequalities and intolerance when it should be the other way around.

Don't even have to go back that far. Just a couple of decades ago, sundown towns were a thing. They still are, apparently.

This is absolutely shameful. What's next? We're going to have separate bathrooms for homosexuals? Are we going to make them sit at the back of the bus?

Gosh while this page loaded I was hoping it wasn't going to complete what I thought it was. Then, It did. Not only am I HIGHLY disappointed, but it just goes to show that we are indeed going backwards.

If this law (I did not read the articles) allows for the EMT to make that judgement who is to say the EMT wont refuse to treat straight people because they were wearing PINK or something. Its sad, and I am sure if the legislators were put in that same position where an EMT had to determine if they were gay or lesbian it would be hurtful to them.

This law has to be a joke, why would anybody make this law?! I don't think we're going back to the middle ages, that's an exageration, but i do think kids are getting dumber by the day, again this my opoioin.

Keeping in mind that we did vote these politicians into office. When politicians make bad decisions, there isn't anyone to blame but the American people. We voted Obama into office twice, and people still hate him.

This is truly ridiculous. Here I was thinking the world was making progress towards being acceptive of all sexualities...

If someone needs urgent help, at no point should the fact that they are different to you make you stop treatment.

I just hope that when an EMT is called to a injured person who is an LGBT, they have the sense to help them and not just leave them there. I find this bill truly disgraceful, and I'm disgusted at the fact that it was passed.

Well, let's be honest there. Allowing gay people to marry and all doesn't really affect anyone's life directly, it's all based on personal beliefs and privacy. This law is opening the way to discrimination, which is affecting someone's life directly, and in some case in a pretty serious way. And it doesn't only work for LGBT people, but also for religions. How would you react if a muslim, jew or hindu doctor refused to give you the proper care just because you're christian and your religion goes against theirs?

Valid point, but I think you are also missing my point. How is it fair that politicians in support of Gay marriage can force religions to accept it when it is against their doctrine? And plus, this is all down to personal belief. I have a Muslim friend and we get along just fine. A true Christian would help someone no matter what. A common misconception is that Christians hate gays and want them eliminated from the Earth. This is not true at all. Like I said earlier, we don't approve of gay marriage or sexual acts.

Well, religions aren't "forced" to accept gay marriage in my opinion, gay marriage remains a civilian marriage and not a religious one, churches are still free to ban them, so they are still free of their beliefs. It just gave a bit more freedom to gay couples. That's how I see it, at least. But I agree on the fact that religions (not only christians) claim that you should give your help to people that need it. Politicians are just a bunch of people not even thinking twice about what they do.

To me, it seems that they are trying to push it onto Churches. You do have a point thought.

@ian20 I agree, in the constitution of the untied states, there is a separation of church and state. So if your religion doesn't allow gay marriage, they have a right to that and a religion should not be forced to let people marry in there service.

@Takao, you know what I assume you hate gays and agree that they should be killed, after all your profile picture is the Russia and they kill homosexuals, seriously at the very least show some sympathy man, is that too much to ask.

If they did that, they should have made one telling EMT's that don't have to provide services to cop killers, or terrorists...

Well, according to those very kind republicans, LGBT people and people having a different religion than yours are worse than cop killers and terrorists. Mind blown.

Well good sir, it makes sense in fairy tale land. Jeeze people could be so stupid... *Note sarcasm, as I am not actually calling you stupid*

Please read the actual law before claiming things like "it lets EMTs deny treatment to gay people" as though it were the "Don't Give Medical Treatment To Gays Act of 2014". The actual text is along the lines of "any law that conflicts with freedom of religious expression is void unless it is narrowly tailored to serve a compelling government interest" (i.e. as far as I can tell, the same test used on laws restricting speech). Note that there is already a federal law saying almost the exact same thing; the reason Michigan passed one is that the federal law can't affect how state laws are construed.

From what I understand after reading it, the bill just says that people have freedom of religion...something that has been in place since the beginning of this country. Also note that I only read the bill and not any of the other links, since it's all bound to be biased and only looking to make the internet angry.
