A man in Houston has been charged with raping two young girls and giving them HIV.

My opinion, this man should be sentenced to death by firing squad.

So far there are 5 types of ways allowed to be use in executing a prisoner....lethal injection, gas chamber, guillotine, hanging, and firing squad.

It depends on states to choose which method to use...most choose lethal injection because it "humane"

Now, in most states I don't think the death penalty would be used...but considering this case is in Texas....who knows

Death by insanity is the best way to deal with him.

Hanging and guillotine aren't legal in the United States, regardless of what state you're in.... They are illegal and should remain that way.

It should be the guilty's choice to choose. Courts will usually let you choose, although doubtful of guillotine. If I'm correct, recently a man requested firing squad and they allowed it. If I'm gonna die, let me choose.

Sorry...guillotine isn't legal anymore...but hanging still is.

(and it is up to the state to decide which method to choose)

While I do agree with you, I don't think this would be a good idea. The last thing the United States needs, is the media spreading false information about the United States legalizing hanging, firing squad, guillotine, burning, etc. The world won't see this as a request, they'll see it as a forced punishment. Human Rights Watch would be all over the situation.

But like I said, I do agree with you. If I'm going to die regardless, I'd prefer to choose my own route.

Courts mostly just let you choose from a (very short) list of approved methods (else "death by natural causes" would be a popular choice indeed). Also, a number of states have removed non-lethal injection forms of execution, but say that prisoners who committed their crime before the state removed a form of execution can still select the old form (e.g. in Utah, firing squad is no longer authorized in general, but convicts who requested a firing squad before 2004 still get to have a firing squad; eventually all the people grandfathered in die or are executed, so then the old form is no longer an option for anyone, like hanging in Delaware).

Not wanting to get even more off-topic but felt the urge to ask, who does the actual firing? Corrections officers? National guardsmen? Or hired contractors? Being obsolete as it is, I guess, professional firesquad members are retired by now, and who will do their duty at that request?

According to Wikipedia, generally volunteer law enforcement officers (it could potentially be guards, but in Utah that doesn't seem to have been the case). I don't think there were ever professional firing squad members; execution by firing squad is generally associated with military and paramilitary organizations (where there are plenty of infantrymen who are perfectly competent to be on a firing squad and can be ordered to do so), as opposed to other forms of execution which involve more specialized training.
