LCPDFR is by far the game I play most at the moment and has been for several months but at times I like to let of steam and I find FPS / Action games are best for this. So I'm looking for ideas / recomendations for a FPS / action game.

I have the Battlefield seies and Modern Warfare which I play MP but I am looking for a single player FPS against AI that I can pick up and leave anytime I feel like it.

I prefer it to be a solitary character, I hate having to look after AI team mates who always get themselves killed or get in the way.

In the past this type of game I have enjoyed the most have been the origional Half life, entering black messa gave me a feeling of isolation which was great. An old game but worth a mention.

The first FEAR game. Again a feeling of isolation and being on my own against the AI. Also the AI in this game were pretty smart.

Silent Hill 2 allthough not a true FPS was imersive and scared the shit out of me.

Max payne II with it's bullet time was good. (this was back when I had PS2)

Fallout 3 was brill.

I have a steam account so anything on special deal or cheap is double great but not a must. I see Max payne 2 is

If you don't necessarily want an FPS game, but are happy with an 3P action game, I recommend you check out Assassin's Creed II (not Brotherhood or Revelations, as you need to play ACII first to understand those). I'm a complete Assassin's Creed fan and really love the game.

You're an assassin in the middle ages Italy. The game is an open world game, where you can run around italian cities doing parkour, climbing houses and of course fighting and killing guards. I like it so much, because you can either play the story stealthy or just go into each mission "Rambo-style" killing everything that moves. The story is quite gripping and there is a lot of stuff to do even after you completed all official missions. (Sidequests, finding hidden items, etc..)

My brother used to go on about Assassins creed II but I never pay attention to a word he says normally. I will check out some you tube vids and look into it. cheers.

And yeah 3rd person is ok.

Edit: Thx for the links below.

Here some good videos:

Gameplay footage:

Non gameplay (but pictures the mood of the game quite well):

Another thing I really love about AC are the historic references and how impressive it is to walk through a medieval city and look at the beauty that the 3d modellers did.

Try Medal of Honor 2010. It is one of the better campaigns I played, its tougher than MW, has the frostbite engine, and it takes place in the early phases of the Afghan War where you play as members of DEVGRU, Delta, the 1/75th Rangers and an apache gunner. Even though you are in 4 man squads through most of the game, AI is a lot smarter than other games and doesn't jump in your way if you use realistic tactics. Also, they can't die so there are no penalties in that department.

Sticks and stones may break bones, but 5.56 fragments on impact.

Actually in multiplayer it's Frostbite, singleplayer it's Unreal Engine.

Metro 2033 is one of the games in my library that I view as a classic. Sci-fi and isolates you a lot. You only have to look after someone in one scenario, but unfortunately it's the most frustrating part of the game unless you have enough ammo. Great game though.

There was a time I had every Medal of honour game. I loved them from the first right up until they released (can't remember the name) the pacific campaign which should have been awesome, but for me it fell short of the quality of the rest. That said I never looked at the other releases after that so I will look into it as had forgot about that line of games. Always prefered MOH to COD.

Good thing about the 2 recomendations so far is they are both cheap :) Could get 4 or 5 games at this rate for what I payed for LA NOIR a month or 2 ago.

Metro 2033 not heard of that so looking forward to seeing what thats all about. From what you said has some of the key features I'm after too.

If you're going to get Assassin's Creed Revelations, here's my quick review:

  • New features (like bombs & grapple hook) kinda make me lose the Assassin's Creed feeling.
  • Boring settings, I liked Italy and it's landscape but Constantinople (or whatever it's called) is pretty boring IMO.
  • Defending Assassin dens, extremely retarded.
  • Old Ezio, now he's some old guy and resembles Ezio in his earlier years in no ways. And he lost his epic cape on his costume FUUUUUUUUUU-
  • Some more negative stuff

I am not even planning to finish the game, it seriously is to boring for me. AC II and Brotherhood are way better.

Just play bot matches on Unreal Tournament, Counter Strike: Source or Team Fortress 2. Bot matches can help sharpen your skill and prepare you for playing against humans if you decide to. You also complete achievements in bot matches.
