Investigative Committee of Russia recently received some new vehicles. I used to ride them (as a passenger). Some of them look pretty good, I think.

Criminal Laboratory based on Gazel, older version. Some of them are fitted for off-road terrain and have lifted suspension and a winch (and it sucks riding in it). Inside there's a crate with some creepy CSI stuff, a few seats, and a table. Also features several sockets and can provide electricity during crime scene investigation.

mashina-sledstvennogo-komiteta-rossii-00

A bit newer version based on Ford Transit. Generally provides more space and more seats.

Ford_Transit_Samotlor_sledstv.jpg

A newer Volkswagen, also equipped for some light offroad trip. Never rode this one though, our city received them only a few months ago.

A UAZ with no lights and siren, designed to provide assistance at the scene but mostly just drives tons of papers around.

120271822b799ce9bfcca147ca3d19eb.jpg

Fully marked InvestComm Ford. We have some of them but I never even looked inside. Used by high ranking officials I guess.

markin-sk-budet-prosit-ob-areste-voditel

Version with a lightbar, illegally parked.

2073645.jpg

Those are the most common vehicles that InvesCom has. No markings, no lights or siren, no radio, an ordinary civilian Ford, usually Focus. The brass uses Mondeos. The only thing that gives up its identity is the license plate, always having O...CK on it.

The one on the pic above has blue strobe lights, however, today it's illegal. No strobes are allowed in Russia, unless the vehicle belongs to the Federal Protective service.

A funny fact: drivers are separate category of employees, both civil and LEOs. Those who are on the force can hold a rank up to major. However, drivers are unarmed, do not assist in investigations, are not trained to drive "code-3", and under no circumstances an ordinary investigator would be allowed to drive a service car. Russian police shares that silly manner: police drivers aren't even supposed to assist fellow officers, they should stay in their vehicles at all times.

fix spoiler.

It's funny how I look at all these other fire departments and see all these awesome LEDS like a whelen freedom as a lightbar, ect.

Then I look at my department with all the slow halogen rotating lights.... Least we have real q sirens that're loud as hell and sound awesome.

Pics are in the spoiler so it does not take up so much page space.

Which was pushed to second out by this beast..

Which that truck replaced the '69 ALF that's second from the right

Our main ambulance

and finally our local police got kicked out for bein dicks and spending too much, so the sheriff's took over

My town pretty much had a fleet of 20 or so all black 2010 + 2011 Ford CVPI's with light bars (no decals or anything) up until about last year. They had 3 or 4 slicktop ones too. In addition, last year, they bought a used dark blue 2011 slicktop from another town and I haven't seen it in a few months, probably retired. Ever since then they've been phasing in Ford Explorers, some all black, some with "POLICE" on the side which hasn't been done in a few years to save money. The last time they had marked units was pre-2009, when they had black and white units. Afterwards they started doing a setup similar to the CT State Police, lightbar, pushbar, but all black instead of gray.

2011 Ford CVPI along with a slicktop Explorer next to it:

There's only about 3 or 4 Crown Vics left now sadly, but they're starting to get beat up looking and run down anyway.

The school SRO has a maroon and white (school colors) 2008 Dodge Charger that they're keeping running. It used to be all black until the school auto program repainted it.

Here in Australia we don't have Crown Vics and Chargers, so this may be something a little different for y'all Americans.

Your average patrol car would look something like this: (left: VF Holden Commodore, right: FG Ford Falcon)

Holden_Commodore_VF_NSW_Police_Car_(1620Monaro_LAC_Highway_Patrol_(MN_204)_Ford_

And the Highway Patrol variants:

728396-9b8de736-48f8-11e4-b01c-bb0ae8e97

And then there is this. Which I didn't even know existed until I saw it in person yesterday. (It's the next gen Falcon, although it looks kinda like a mustang.)

I'll post some more random stuff later.

We don't have our own PD, so the RCMP are here to help. We recently got the new interceptors, but, we still have Crown Vics.

And our local Fire Department:

"Please, put it in park, will ya?" "LSPD, see the lights, pullover." "Stop the vehicle, we need to have a little chat!" "Get in the car and keep your mouth shut." "You have the right to absolutely nothing." "The damn gun is jammed!"

65 miles of round trip travelling took us from Akron to Massillon to North Canton then to Hartville

Starting off with the shots from Massillon:

No one was at the front desk so I elected to shoot from the publicness of the sidewalk right next to the entrance to the police parking lot, Notice: please do not enter a fenced in police parking lot without permission, there is a decent chance you will be allowed in if you speak to the supervisor in charge inside the police station.

We stopped off at the local highway Patrol post in North Canton, they were not willing to let us into the police vehicle lot but did offer to drive a vehicle around, but they did not have what I was looking for there so we left(I was looking for a new 2015 Tahoe)

Then off to Hartville:

Hartville did not have a fenced in lot, an officer did come out of the station and was interested in what we were doing, we had a please conversation, he enjoys the Explorers more than he did the CVPI's.
