GFWL was shit to begin with so LCPDFR won't go down just because it shut down.

Hamachi has been tried with the clan I'm in, and it seemed to work. We'll hear more about this sort of substitute after GfWL goes down - hopefully it is a solution.   But LCPDFR will most definitely

Most likely not. Really the only people who use the multiplayer for GTA are clans. The majority of LCPDFRs users play singleplayer, so GFWL shutting down won't affect them. The LCPDFR team will probably keep updating and releasing newer versions either until GTA V comes out for PC, which who knows when that will be, or until the devs get bored or tired of this.

LCPDFR will not close down, as lcpdfr is a separate mod for the game. The shutdown will only affect GTAIV's Online services, But luckily, there are people already working on a online service for GTAIV.

I doubt it.Most users on here play single player anyway. And at the rate the mod is being developed i don`t see that happening any time soon.

I heard that LCPDFR is shutting down because it's getting bankrupted, Rockstar is no longer paying G17

But seriously....no, that's only for people that want to play online, I have never played online so it won't effect me, but the plus side is that there wont be a bunch of useless clan advertisements

Here's my input:

Basically, the whole GFWL shutting down shitstorm is real, yes, but we probably won't affected by the loss of multiplayer, especially since I hear people are now using Hamachi and programs like that over LAN. Either way, LCPDFR will probably go on, for now. Whether it will continue in to when GTA V is released for PC, if released on PC, I'm unsure of. As far as I'm concerned, I don't think the LCPDFR staff want to disclose what's happening with the future of our group, as it is quite unforeseeable, so we just need to hang in there and figure it out for ourselves.

SCNG FTW!!

[...], especially since I hear people are now using Hamachi and programs like that over LAN.

I didn't try that yet, but does that mean that the multiplayer still works if people use Hamachi? Is there anyone who already tried that?

That sounds interesting.

i pretty much agree with the m_m_fatcop_01 hater here :D

I never really playied online. But of course. There are some people that do and it's gonna suck for them. But i'm sure the community will be coming up with a solution. Maybe something like IV:MP

But LCPDFR will most definitely not die out, as the whole source of its popularity was from its single-player mode, not really multiplayer. Just look at the sheer volume of YouTube videos (and views) that SP gameplay has received (from the novelty of such a genre) commentary or without commentary - new people are discovering the game all the time.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I do believe that GTA IV's DRM relies on GFWL. So if GFWL does shut down, you will most likely require xliveless to play. (but there won't be any multiplayer, unfortunately.)

There was even a petition on removing it:

http://www.change.org/petitions/remove-gfwl-from-gta-4-and-gta-eflc

I am however curious if someone will come up with a mod that can work around GFWL and get multiplayer back going without the use of hamachi or third-party programs.

LCPDFR is bound to close down, no matter how long it takes. "Whatever comes up, must come down." Now, that doesn't mean it is going to go down in the next two months, but it is probably likely it will go down in the next 5 to 10 years at most.

Oh, well I guess no more multiplayer patrols :(

But just to clearly answer your question even though it has already been answered by other users... No, GFWL shutting down will not affect people who play LCPDFR on singleplayer
