Although they are pretty uncommon (especially here in wales) it's probably likely you have seen one in your lifetime. Just wondering if you've ever seen a police escort.

I saw one back in 2012 when the Olympic torch toured around Britain, I guess we were lucky enough for it to come through our town. I had never seen so many police bikes in my life. Security was pretty low (although it may not look like it in the video) but it wasn't some crazy celebrity running with it, just local people. The video is below if you'd like to see it.

There were probably lots more police too, but I didn't get everything recorded. I also had parts where there was like a mini carnival kinda thing, nothing big it was just sponsors going through in their trucks. Coca cola was giving out free coke. :P

Yes I have. A couple were for funerals and the other I am not going to get into. I've been in a whole bunch of FD escorts before.

Yeah, Funerals and when the NCSHP escorted the UNC football team. But I have not seen a presidential escort or anything like that.

I saw a few funerals, NBA basketball teams arriving at the stadium, been in one that was enroute to Homestead ARB.

I've seen plently including Gordon Brown when he was prime minister and the UK's nuclear missiles being transported to HMNB Clyde.

 

Interesting to hear that over in the US you have police escorts for funerals. To me that would seem really strange, never seen one for a funeral over here. Any reason as to why the do it? Because to me it would seem strange to have the police escorting a funeral. It doesn't really make sense (except for things like traffic congestion).

I've seen a couple of ambulance escorts, that's pretty much it.

I've seen them a fair number of times (my dad's office is on the route from the White House to the Vice President's residence).

We have them for mostly respect. When someone dies and they are gonna be buried the sheriff office will usually escort the family (and the body) to the cemetery.

 

They're pretty regular here, they sometimes do them for over sized loads, my step had O.P.P escort him through Ontario with a wide load last year, there was one this morning for a lady going cross country on a bicycle this morning, plus the Police in Halifax try to be involved in the Community, so if there is a special event of some kind the Police make an appearance with flashy lights.

I've seen several presidential motorcades rolling down the highway and surface streets.  The cops block off highway on/off ramps and every single crossroad that the motorcade goes through.  You see two-three presidential limos, makes it hard to tell which one the president is in, surrounded by what seems like hundreds of cop cars with emergency lights on.

 

Was pretty crazy to see the huge procession moving at like 80-90mph.  Seen probably three-four of them.  I actually worked and setup a presidential rally with George HW Bush at the Palace of Auburn Hills where I was a house roadie.  It get's much crazier when you have to enter the building and have to deal with the Secret Service people.

 

EDIT: Oh, also seen the Pope's motorcade as well...John Paul II...just as big of a motorcade as the pres.

I saw the president's motorcade a couple of years ago when he landed at the airfield by my house. There were so many police cars and secret service SUV's. It caused a lot of traffic because they had to shut down a bunch of streets. Also, when I visited Washington DC, I saw a couple black undercover SUV's driving code 3 down the street. I assume there was some sort of important person inside.

I've seen a few prisoner escorts when driving into the Salford area of Manchester, I think HMP Strangeways/Manchester is around there, usually 1 or 2 Prisoner transport vehicles with either ARV's or traffic escorting 

Yeah, I saw one in January. There were about 15 emergency vehicles with lights activated, they were all unmarked black cruisers with interior/exterior blue lighting, I saw them escorting a bus (it was raining, so I couldn't tell what kind of bus it was) I first thought that it was a pursuit, but then I saw that it was an escort

I live down the street from one of the two prisons here and the other day I saw an agency from Mass doing an escort of (i assume anyway) a prisoner. 

I've seen one earlier this year in Berlin. I don't know who they were escorting though. Got a video of the escort but can't find it right now. There were about 15-20 cars involved. Very interesting to see...

I saw the President motorcade in Seattle, On Television!

Yeah, I've seen quite a few of those "small" NYPD-escorts with around 4-6 vehicles once in a while when I visit NYC, the presidential escort in Stockholm (Sweden - Last year in september). Also a couple of small Sheriff convoys in Florida (where I used to live).
