A standalone game for LCPDFR

I've been out there looking for some sort of LCPDFR-styled video game, yet I found none. Most of the ones I found very really bad (especially compared to this).

Of course, developing a whole frikin' CITY would take... literally a year or so (highly depends if it's fictional or a real city).

It sucks how G17 Media has such a small development team (I think it's around 10 people. Not sure O>O)

I've been thinking (very thoroughly, from a developer's point of view) about this.

My ideas;

Base it off the New York Police Department. I've always imagined being a cop in New York, or more precisely New York City. Huge... just stunning. Yet again, this will take at least 2 years to develop due to research and actual modelling itself.

Mod support-

Yes, we know about the GTA IV PC modding community. But imagine this; you could easily create a police texture (or if you wish, create your very own model for either a fictional or some older/newer car). No need to download a crap ton of applications, watch thousands of tutorials and read modelling books. Just use Paint (no don't) and make a random Fashion Police texture for your Impala?

ELS-

ELS should be an actual feature, not an optional additional script thing. Obviously, many players hate the door glitch/bug that comes with ELS, but if you get around it, everyone will love it.

Singleplayer, Co-Op and...-

Singeplayer would be amazing. Imagine starting up the standalone and clicking on start new campaign, design your charcater and enter. No, not patrolling. Enter the academy! From the academy all the way to Commisioner? That would be very fun. With different options, open-world dynamic environments it would be plain amazing.

Co-op could similar to the current limited multiplayer for LCPDFR. Imagine patrolling around the 'city' that the standalone has, then suddenly get a call out for some robbery? This would involve communications and different strategies. It would be greatly... well... fun.

And lastly... Cops 'n' Robbers! Wouldn't it be fun? I've seen a game similar to this cops 'n' robbers concept titled 'Police Warfare'. I believe it's (sadly) cancelled. Imagine playing in a... dunno... 24-player server online and each team is 12 players. Imagine a guy piloting a chopper and then the SWAT/NOOSE players rappel down on the roof, then rappel down the wall and jump through the windows and kill the robbers before they get away. Wouldn't THAT be fun?

Just as a conclusion, this is my personal 'wishlist' for the quite possibly best police simulator for a few years. I hope the best to G17 Media and the rest of the community.

Most of these ideas might be possible. I never developed a game or a mod, but I'm looking forward to learning to model cars and textures to possibly create a Bedfordshire Police Pack (quite possibly inspired by DoupleDoppler, but creating the models and such by myself) and maybe a Chicago Police Pack (I don't seem to find any Chicago PD Packs, just a single CVPI.)

Thank you for your time.

@G17 Media & others; Keep up the amazing work!

The funny thing is that I was thinking about this today as well haha! It would definitely be a mammoth task and it will probably never happen.

I agree. It might happen, if G17 'recruits' members into their team. You know, I'd be fine with a simple long road that stretches out for 500km of duplication but very good mod support than a huge city but little mod support. They would have to use a different engine (unless they buy the license from R*, but it costs quite a lot as far as I'm aware) but resorting to Unity wouldn't be too bad. Unity is, majorly, free but you could get this 'pro' version.

If we, as a community, ever get to see an LCPDFR standalone

It's probably gonnna be 2016 and beyond.

Really, all we need to do (as a community)

is get other indie companies that have been creating sort of action/adventure titles or racing titles

pull them together into one

then get good driving, good singeplayer etc.

Of course, this mod isn't 'as big' as the DayZ mod. If I had a choice of LCPDFR Standalone or DayZ Standalone, I would've picked LCPDFR Standalone.

Anyhow, too bad this won't happen. But you know

hope is there

I'm actually surprised that there hasn't been a Police Simulator done for any of the consoles, so many people would be for it, however, I think it would have to be nothing short of a free roam game...

Traffic Stops

Patrols

Arrests

Realistic Lighting

Realistic vehicles (which would be harder to come by as they are trade marked such as the FCVPI, FPI & all the other vehicles

People will want the ability to customize characters

Different varieties of lighting (lightbars, strobes etc) I would even buy the game if there was a program that allowed FULL texture customization with an ingame customizer so people could use the departments they want, uploading pics for these textures etc..

oh here we go my imagination has gone wild....

Ultrakiller,

Do you really think that a huge gaming company that makes billions of dollars (excluding Rockstar because their really the only one I see that would try this, I am pretty sure they have their staff all over this modification, just saying) will come to this community and help, I highly doubt it. I can see that you have alot of hope in this but it is really a low percent chance that a multimillion dollar company will work with this community (not a bad reason, but this community (even with 100,000 members) is quite small especially with 5 development staff members. Regarding the comment that you said that the Dev. Team should hire some of us,  that is even a smaller chance, unless something happens to Jay or Sam, if they barely release a preview of any new versions (which I am waiting for (I now about the screenshots, time to see a video or two or three)) they are not going to hire just anybody.

Edit: But yes, I would like to see this. What I think would be pretty cool is to take Emergency 4 and make some of it First Person, like when your units arrive on scene you can click on a unit and go first person, then you could add different things that Law Enforcement could do like Slimory Mentioned, Emergency Lighting, More Callout options and a menu that allows you to enable and disable certain call-outs (which would give you the option to turn off call outs), then add Traffic Stops, Arrests, using XP to allow you to rank up, Patrol Districts, Patrol Shifts (which could allow for you to get to know who your back up is and who you prefer to call), then if you make it up to a supervisor or the Chief, it could give you the option for Administrative things like PIT confirmations, training sessions, and hiring and firing officers.

I think the ability to choose what type of Enforcement Division/ Unit would fuckin' sweet also, problem is, it would get boring after awhile because face it, GTA is very boring as Vanilla.. I still play IV ONLY because of LCPDFR & the vehicles you can choose from.. my friends, in awe when they see I have RCMP on my screen & I play as the RCMP.

I think that would be really hard especially for developers who doesn't gain any money by developing mods.

First off you have to come up with an idea, then create a game engine with involves a lot of advanced programming techniques, then you have to fix bugs, and then start with the actual game that you have to program as well.

It would take a LOT of time to do all of that, most developers on here use their spare time to make their mods and they probably wouldn't have the time to think about developing a major game if they go to school or work everyday.

What about a petition? that seems to be what went down to get GTAV on the go.

I have yet to see anything official talking about anything for GTA V and the PC so I think that petition is largely pointless. Unless of course Rockstar has announced it in the past day or 2 then I retract that statement.

Personally I would like to see what we have improved upon, maybe some files rewritten to make it more stable and of course more mods but stability is the biggest thing. I know however what a tall order that alone is.

Rockstar games made L.A Noire what if we ask them to make another Police game (I know that an't going to work)

Team Bondi made L.A Noire. Team Bondi as a company is bankrupt. Rockstar games owns the title L.A Noire, and they have not abandoned the idea of another Noire game. As of know, their concentration is centered on GTA V.

^That. All large companies have mostly one goal. Make money. And lots of it. If they make a police game, they need to make sure it's profitable. L.A Noire was profitable, so it's not impossible we'll see a number 2 in that series but the bottom line is, it won't make them any money. LCPDFR is the largest policing community on the net (AFAIK) but we are quite outnumbered. Almost everyone on this site would buy a police-based game without thinking (too much), but that would still not be enough.

Also, the most popular game "type" right now seems to be space based games. Lots of space....
