LCPDFR Feature Wishlist! (Post Your Ideas HERE!)

- Felony Traffic Stops, where AI will assist with extraction.

- Driver Call Backs

- Pepper Spray

- (Enable/Disable via settings): Arming the Assault Rile or Shotgun automatically calls for backup if done within x feet of your vehicle

- Setting up road blocks, and a button to command AI to shoot out tires/the engine block rather than the driver

- In chases, the suspect tries in some cases to board the subways, but you can stop it.

- Ask consent to search cars/ability to request a car search warrant

- Transport prisoners to the correctional facillity

- Prison Riots/Escapes

- A way to be a prison guard (Entrance/Exit like police stations?)

I know, a bunch of ideas listed, but these could make for some pretty realistic gameplay.

1. Maybe. Sounds interesting.

2. What do you mean? Do you mean removing backup units?

3. Taser kind of fills that position.

4. Sounds kind of annoying, but if it's a toggle it could work.

5. You can set up roadblocks with the VDH PoliceHelper. Also, the Ai generally aims for the tires already.

6. Why would anyone escape on a Subway train anyway? and I think the subway is disabled when LCPDFR has multiple units out (I could be wrong).

7. Searching cars will be more in-depth in version 1.0

8. That's not very realistic. Suspects are brought to a police station for questioning and processing. After that it's up to the court to put said suspect in a correctional facility.

9. Could work, but lot's of work.

10. LCPDFR is about the daily life of a beat cop, so this will probably not happen.

  • In what civilized country does a police officer carry an RPG?

  • I said civilized.

  • Well, it may take a LOT of coding, but how about a real life MDT (Optional for all you people who don't like stuff like this) , like when you get a call and you get on scene, you go into your MDT and

I quite like some of the ideas being portrayed here.

I think the most important change for me would be some form of 'while loop' in the code which varies the callouts more. For me if I patrol around the highways I would expect to receive more RTC's or speeding vehicle callouts not a domestic disturbance every 10 seconds.

Something like this needs implementing because I tend to get a majority of domestic disturbances and no other callouts, and if it isn't a domestic disturbance its a huge bloody gang shootout. And I know there are more than 2 callouts.

Some sort of script call which checks how long ago the last call out id was.

For example if the callout id for a domestic was selected by the script within 2 minutes prior to the new callout it would force a different callout. Just an idea to add some more variety, 'cause I find myself hitting N more now or even F7 to block the callouts so I can do my own thing.

(and yes I know I can use bravehearts script, I do. But I don't want to have to use it as a permanent replacement of the default. Just an add on)

Something I feel would make a nice change (purely aesthetic this one) is to replace the text which appears at the bottom of the screen with an on screen computer while in a car (similar to the way the vdh policehelper works) so that the text appears in the say bottom left corner above the map display (or even around the map display to make it look like its using the map)

this would make it appear more realistic to the player's view as if you were actually in the police car IRL you would have the computer down to your side to glance at. With these screenshots I made the computer system is visible while in a car for you to glance at while driving. :)

Here are some really badly done mock ups of how it 'could' look :)

(apologies the forum compresses images to fit in the spoiler, click on the image to load it full size so it isn't all squashed)

OR4cDiM.jpg

Image 1: How it would appear for a callout

Notice that it is slightly transparent here still (the computer has not been activated so while you can still press Y or N to respond you cannot use the mouse to press buttons (you need to hit E while stopped to bring up the computer menu)

cZ9P9JR.jpgImage 2: After you hit Y you are now on the callout and it will remain like this until you end the callout (arrest the suspect) again it is still slightly transparent here as the computer is still in the background.

2O6ayKj.jpg

Image 3: After you have pulled someone over to perform a traffic stop you get back into your car to check their licence etc, pressing E makes the computer slightly larger and now darker blue to show it is active and displays the suspects details.

Pressing the X in the top right corner of the computer's interface closes it back to its default view (slightly transparent, smaller and showing the dispatch screen)

it will also return controls to the player.

I missed off image 4 because I forgot to save it (sorry) but image 4 was the screen before you have clicked "go" to search their name. It was basically identical except instead of the suspects details under "notes" it said "recently pulled over 'Mr Name'"

If you looked at my badly done images let me know what you think :)

This isn't possible due to no working interiors. The only thing that could happen is dropping off the suspect at the station.

Yeah couldn't they make a drop off area with that red circle inside the station after you fill some paperwork out

The issue with this is gameplay. I'm willing to bet a majority of users on this site do not want to sit in an office and fill out paperwork for an imaginary suspect. If people really are keen on doing that, it is easily possible to use a laptop, tablet, smart phone, or even pen and paper to fill out a fake report.

Sticks and stones may break bones, but 5.56 fragments on impact.

If I had to fill out paperwork, I would just turn my suspects over to Officer Glock.

This. That's a little to realistic for my taste.

Going back to what one of the previous people said, rather than the cops just come out guns blazing in a pursuit, have them try and pacify the car first, rather than the driver. I know that you can authorize deadly force with F9, but even with it off they still sometimes kill the suspect. Also, when you get in a pursuit or something and the suspect bails and tries running, if there was a way for the AI officers to use a taser or nightstick on him if close enough, not just shoot him 17 times then walk away, that adds a bit more realism in my opinion.

I am guessing that most of the violent tendencies of the LCPD is hard-coded into the game and as such, cannot be changed.

The issue with that is that there is no jail cell.

There doesn't have to be. Just like how when you drop somebody off at the station, you walk into the red circle and they just disappear right? Instead of them just disappearing, you would go in the red circle, the police station would load and let's say you book them in on the room where you get a partner, health and armor. You would walk into another red circle, the police computer would pop up, you type in their names and you would simply click book. After logging out of the police computer, they wouldn't be there any longer. I hope that's not too much :/

That's a good point - and actually I think that is the case here. When playing in story mode (I've discovered the same with GTA V) they just ram into your rear bumper and start shooting you. It's really ridiculous, but it would be cool if we could somehow make them a little more realistic.

Indeed. The LCPD is violent because it's a parody of the violent side of the NYPD. The LCPDFR team has made some real progress with the AI, but without the sourcecode released they can only do so much.

Also, I like your booking idea IF it's toggleable in the settings. It would be a cool feature, but it would get tedious after a while. This can be circumvented by making it toggleable when you grow weary of it.

Hey, i have an idea. How about water chase. So the suspect drive a boat and we chase them using boat with any backups.

Haha, personally, I've never seen the violent side of the NYPD, or the NYPD in action at all so I was not aware that was the reason of them being so violent. And I agree it would get very tedious at times, but maybe you could turn that off in the settings? But with that said it's starting to sound like a lot for the LCPDFR staff to do. Anyway, it would be really cool if that feature was implemented, I would find myself playing LCPDFR a lot more.

Hey, i have an idea. How about water chase. So the suspect drive a boat and we chase them using boat with any backups.

The problem with this is how the AI works, and transporting people on boats. It's quite glitchy from my understanding. And the waterways of Liberty City isn't as developed as the streets are. I'm sure one of the devs can shed some light on why it has not been done, but my understanding is that LCPDFR is focused on beat cops, in the city, and not the water.

It's not that the NYPD is a violent department, it's just that GTA IV brings out the violent side of that department. There has been some controversy and use of excessive force in the history of the NYPD.

It's alot of work yes, so must likely it won't be included, but nevertheless it's a feature I would personally use sometimes.

But another issue is that most PD's do not have offices on the same floor as holding cells. Most PD's have a garage or a doorway on the bottom floor that can be used to quickly drop off suspects, minimizing the effort in getting a suspect to another floor. With a suggestion like this, it would mean a cop would bring a suspect to the top of a skyscraper that acts as a headquarters to book him. Pretty unrealistic in my opinion.

Well it isn't a skyscraper is it? And, yes, I forgot about the holding cells - but what are you calling unrealistic? The suspect just disappearing after logging out of the PD PC? Because that's a lot more realistic than what you guys have now. I wonder what other people think - because absolutely no offence to you, but that's just being a bit picky.
