LSPDFR

When and if GTA V comes out for PC, and if it supports mods and if LCPDFR is made for GTA V, will the site still be called LCPDFR, or LSPDFR?

I'm just wondering...

If there was to be an LSPD:FR/SAPD:FR mod for GTA 5 and founded by G17 Media, then i think they'll just change the name of the site from LCPD:FR to something like "First Responce Modifications" or som

  • Lol, i laughed when i saw "We'll see", and then looked down on your signature :DDDD

  • We can't say at this stage.

I don't think the name will be changed...

I don't recon the name will be changed, but there will be a bunch of people creating spin off mods

For some reason, I really doubt GTA V will support mods. I really want it to, but doesn't rockstar hate mods? or is that EA I'm thinking of..

No, you're absolutely right, Rockstar Games hate mods! After the Hot Coffee mod for Gta Sa was released.

That wasn't actually a mod, Rockstar added that feature in the first version of GTA SA, but was later disabled due to complaints.

The "mod" was just a cleo script that re-enabled the feature in the game's code.

Yes i know, but before the 'mod' was released Rockstar Games had nothing against modders.

Even if it was changed it shouldn't be called LSPDFR. There's other law enforcement agencies around Los Santos too.

Would make more sense to just call it SAPDFR or something. Unless of course it would ONLY focus on law enforcement within the city limits, I doubt people want that however.

That's just the mod though. If the site would feature both LCPDFR and a policing mod for V, shouldn't they go with something general that wouldn't be solely LCPDFR or "LSPDFR"? They could also stick with the old names cuz those names aren't really that important considering they still got a mod to do, if they wanna do it.

Why Eimuzx is bad? What I do? I want to play LSPDFR!!

Nice thread bump. This topic is nearly a year old! Anyway, it can't hurt to bring this discussion back.

I don't think R* hates modifications, because a few times on the Newswire, they showcased GTA IV mods, including a zombie apocalypse script: http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/18541/zombie-invasion-mod-for-gtaiv-pc.html

That's proof alone that they don't hate mods, otherwise they wouldn't share that video and promote the mod. If only LCPDFR was showcased on the Newswire, that would be nice...

I don't really care for the names. I think the main thing is that GTA V will be moddable and that we get great mods. :)

I don't think they should change names. The name LCPDFR is what got us here, and changing it to some obscure name wouldn't make sense to me. Another thing is we already have a community based around GTA policing. It wouldn't make sense to start up a new community for GTA 5. My suggestion would be to host both mods on this site and maybe change the theme depending on which mod or forum you're looking at (LCPDFR/SAPDFR).

As much as Rockstar "hates" mods, GTA IV and GTA V will run on the same engine (Atleast that's what make sense, and that's what I've heard). It shouldnt take long to develop LCPD:FR for GTA V either, with the engine factor in play. We will have to see....

That's in theory. One of the main goals of LCPDFR 1.0 was an attempt to re-write it in a programming language more compatible with a new Grand Theft Auto game using the same or at least a similar engine, therefore cutting down the time to create a new mod. That doesn't mean that Rockstar won't have countermeasures in place to combat scripting or replacing in game assets such as textures or models. The development team has no idea of telling how likely a direct port or a re-write is until they get their hands on the game. So we'll have to wait until a couple of months after release to find out. And I agree that it should be titled SAPDFR because this is based on San Andreas and encompasses more than just a city and has more than one police agency in it. Or, maybe there needs to be a totally new name unrelated to LCPDFR. Either way, whatever is chosen will need to be re-directed to www.lcpdfr.com and a new forum/website skin and header will probably have to be designed to showcase the elements of both GTA IV and V.

I think they might not change the website name. They might keep this site but add a category for GTA V mods, most likely. But at this time, it's hard to determine that if they will or not.

I believe that the name will be LSPDFR. If you look at the bottom of the page LSPDFR is trademarked by G17. "LCPDFR™, LSPDFR™ and SAPDFR™ are trademarks of G17 Media."

Hah. Interesting. A bit weird for them to trademark a name for a product that they aren't sure will exist, no?
