Well I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking about this, I can guarantee you. Every time I come to this one side, something always reaches my mind, and that is what is going to happen to LCPDFR. Recently, a major change has struck us, packed with negative and positive effects. And this 'new family member' if you will, is going to cause a huge change to our community very soon. Ever since this new family member was announced, one thing has always been on our mind: what is the fate of this massive empire Jay and Sam have created all from scratch? I'm sure you all know where I'm going with this.
Ever since the release of GTA V it's all been on our minds. This one thing. It's certainly been on my mind and I've been thinking "Will there be any use of any of the mods we've got now in our GTA IV community?". R* has developed a brand new game that has so many features added to the programming of the police and its subsections, that it makes me wonder whether any of the mods we've got now in our present community will be carried over to GTA V. These are some examples:
The emergency lighting has improved in GTA V. A LOT. The whole point behind ELS and that other one (yes, I call it that other one - by that Featherstone guy) was to enhance the experience of the emergency lighting in GTA IV and add an element of realism to the emergency lighting right? Well it seems Rockstar seem to have taken this into account and they have made the default emergency lighting in GTA V a lot like what ELS does with the ELS enabled lightbars - they have really added an element of realism and an enhanced the experience of using the emergency lighting, right? So with that in mind, is there really any point of carrying ELS over to GTA V? Does Lt.Caine really want to update his amazing mod again when and if there's a PC version of GTA V? I'd really love to get in touch with Lt.Caine, and the LCPDFR staff to get their opinions and future plans.
Another example, our little peripherals we've got. For example, spotlight mod. With GTA V, all the standard police cars have spotlights, and fully functional ones that really light up the road very well actually. Now all we need is a control panel to move the light around. So what will happen to the existing spotlight mod? Will it just turn into some sort of script that allows you to use some keys on the keyboard to move around the light? Here's another example of a peripheral that is no longer needed - strobes mod. Now although this was made for people who didn't want ELS nor ELS enabled cars or the invincibility thing when the lights are on, I still used it briefly. Even with ELS enabled vehicles, because it was pretty cool and it was another wig-wag pattern for me before the release of ELS 7 where you can now change the wig-wag pattern. Anyway, back on topic, the police vehicles in GTA V have headlight and taillight wig-wags with some really nice graphics too. So strobes mod will have zero use now as well. There's another nice mod in the trash can.
And another example again, vehicle modelling. Although it will still be around, there will be a whole new way of doing it, and there will probably be another software now, or even if there isn't, we'd probably have to use Zmod 3 now.
There are just so many complications that we have to think about now, or this amazing community that has been created could just crumble to the ground and go into the history books. It's really not a very pleasant thought.
I really want to know what you guys think will happen and Jay (and Sam) what do you think will happen to this massive empire you've made? Do you guys also think that GTA V and all this new stuff coming out will decide the fate for GTA IV police modding? I really hope this community will go on, because I think it's too young to die.
