The UK national association of police somthings and the UK Home Office did a paper callled "High Conspicuity Livery for Police Cars" some years ago, I cannot find a working link for it, it was quite a good read.

I could however find aFEMA report on the same subject, I haven't read it, yet, so I cannot vouch for the quality.

Not sure if that was the same report I read but I did see a recomendation some time ago that for night time at least the colour Yellow was recomended for emergency vehicles as the the orange tint on a lot of street lights found on our roads can make it hard to tell apart colours under such nightime lighting. Even white was less visible at night under these conditions.

Dear God I do hope I don't ever see Yellow police cars in my area :P

Most forces buys either white or silver vehicles as they have a higher resale value.

That my friend is the Supervisor Dodge Durango, don't really ever see it though, Halifax Regional Police have pretty much out done themselves on spending needless money on vehicles that aern't even on the street's or in the ocean, HRP Boat, HRP ATV, HRP Dodge Ram, HRP Identification Unit HRP Patty wagon( the middle one), HRP challenger, that patty wagon was involved in a pursuit and they had to call my step dad to pull it out of the ditch, that van i must say has taken ONE HELL OF A BEATING! lol that car in my profile pic i have NEVER seen it move from the main headquarter's parking lot lol
