I must say, I finally got ELS v7 working and I love it.  Especially how well done the rotating primary lights are done; the environment lights are actually correct!  Keep up the great work.

Soooo you're saying that over everything ELS v7 brings.. (more patterns, realistic lighting stages and styles, NO/LESS CRASHING etc, etc.) your favorite part is the Beeping of the stage changes?????  are you serious??

So you've completely ignored the ability to set a custom .ini for each vehicle, therefore not having to mess with the control panel to get the right lighting for your particular car every time?  Also, the differences between LEDs, Strobes, and Rotating lights in ELSV7 are astounding to say the very least.  The environment lighting is much improved, as is the overall stability of the mod itself.

 

In summary;

 

I'm sorry this new ELS just sucks. I can't slow down my patterns enough (3 is max), some of the old patterns are not present, it's overly complicated and you can't use the siren whenever you want to. Also it seems to have a bug with extra8, since no matter what I changed the secondary lights to (even directional), it just couldn't do anything with extra8. I even have a bug where I change to lstg3 with the traffic advisor off by default, and I can't use the siren. Also changing to a different siren tone doesn't seem to change the lighting pattern.

I think simply adding some new features to the older ELS versions would have been a lot better.

anyone know how to get the cars to pull over when siren is on?  When I first cut them on they pull over but slowly get to where they wont.  I have to hit the horn or turn siren off or on to get them pull off to the side but eventually they go back to where they wont pull to the side.  I dont mind using the horn  where I prefer cause I can use left hand on driving right hand keeping camera where I want it and can hit the horn ( how I had it set up in els 6 ) but when I try to change the horn to MMB or any key it still only works when using Y key

 

I've noticed the AI cars eventually ignore the sirens when they've been in use for a bit. What you need to do to keep their attention is constantly press the horn or manual sirens, or change siren tone. As for mapping your horn to the middle mouse button, did you set your "Horn_Airh" to 4 in the ELS.ini?

 

Here are the codes for the mouse buttons (they work for me, anyway):

1 -- Mouse Left
2 -- Mouse Right
4 -- Mouse Middle
5 -- Mouse Alt1
6 -- Mouse Alt2

There is opinion and there is fact and they are not mutually exclusive.   Facts take precedence i think a lot of people would agree.

 

 

I can't change your opinion of whether you like ELS V7 as a whole.   You are free to it as you should be.   When something that is mentioned is not true and you base your opinion on it,  who really looks bad now..

So i am not posting to tell you what to like or dislike,  but to tell what i have experienced or understand about some of these issues being propped up against ELS V7.  

I think i was more excited about ELS v7 being released and the improved stability than when i first learned of LCPDFR mod.

 

 

[1] Can not slow down pattern/flash speed. 

[A] Okay that is one option you do not have anymore.   I played with this in ELS v6  and it wasnt really that straight forward to customize.   The delay numbers dont seem to work as you think sometimes and i get buggy results.   Really wacky ones so i stopped playing around with this.   So i agree with a better, simpler implementation of this would be great for ELS v7 regarding speed control.

 

[2] Some of the old patterns are not present.

[A] There are 2-3 patterns that i liked before but i can't seem to find.   This maybe due to the fact we have 3X the patterns to go through.   And now there are more realistic patterns and combination patterns(best i can explain is like 3 patterns built into 1). 

You may not like the fact that your favourite pattern is no longer accessible,  but that says nothing about the quality of ELS v7 which is free for everyone.

(a car which comes with 20 different colour options,  but not the one you want does not make it a bad or sucky car.)

[A] The last sentence is a bit vague to me.  I have to assume you arent talking about modding/editing it,  but general use ingame.

I dont have any issues with it.  There are patterns that don't use extra 8.  AND very importantly there may be car models that do not use or have the secondaries implemented fully/correctly(that is what extras 7, 8, 9 are for).   A pretty good guess is that 99.95% of the police cars out there aren't ELS v7 optimized. 

(there are some cars that don't light up that great to me,  and some that are configured backwards in a way which i am happy with)

[A] That is a little weird.  Now i will assume you have your info panel open when this happens?   Possible config/keybind issue or it may be a bug. 

 (**now i have been confused with light stages when the info panel is off.   And this is squarely unique to those unoptimized models for ELS v7.  Some of my vehicles light pretty much everything up in Stage 2 and i think it is full on Stage 3.  OR Stage 2 and Stage 3 look exactly the same.  Hit the siren key and it doesn't work of course).

[A] WRONG.  To keep it simple,  there are 4 steps i highlighted in green.   Go to default_config or custom car ini,  and i can have 4 different patterns going if i wanted to.

Exactly ! This one kick previous els versions big time ! It is kinda complicated to get used to it after 4,5 or 6 at the beginning... I have no clue what's the fuss around here... ability to set default patterns, custom patterns for each siren type, Rotary environment lighting (I was very pleased to see that one), 100 custom patterns - it's great and it works like charm !

Els 7 doesn't "suck" because some features don't work in your case. They do work for me and many other people... so, it either YOUR fault, or there are some compatibility issues which will be solved, I'm pretty sure.

To have the primary lights change pattern along with your siren tones, you need to set ForcePatForSrnTones to on and specify the desired patterns IDs for PatId_Yelp, PatId_Alt1, and PatId_Alt2. (All this in the config file you are using for the car in question.) For these to take effect, you'll need to use the ELS siren. Press H (by default) to activate the siren and then press T (by default) to change siren tone. With every tone, the PRML pattern should change to whatever you specified for the given tone.

The manual explains that the default siren is disabled in single player. Though, you can use it by enabling Express mode (which will disable the ELS siren and all ELS keys). That's Ctrl+Backspace by default (make sure to have your trainer off). In multiplayer, the siren system is different from single player: it instead uses the default GTAIV siren.

I've tried it on many vehicles, and extra 8 flashes if it exists on the car model (some models just don't have it, or any secondary lights, for that matter). But, if the secondary lights are set to use the leds or strb types, then extra 8 will still flash (again, if it exists on the model) but it won't show up in the ELS panel (only 7 and 9 will).

Yea some of these issues or difficulties are in Multiplayer.  Which unfortunately i dont get to play around and test with much.  I have heard about some features that don't work as well or you need to fidget with it a lot when in MP.

 

For # [4]  -  that is tough to get around.  I don't have any more ideas to help you with it.

  I am curious about a different config option though,  the airhorn/other modes can be disabled in the custom vehicle .ini and does that feature work?

 

 

 

Ok , there are quite a few steps cause i may have missed one little thing i didnt think was needed.   If you ever try ELS v7 again and this is a tip for anyone else maybe having trouble with sirens changing the light pattern,

 

For # [5]  -  Try using your function key first which should be default "ALT".     And basically hit ALT+SIREN key when you start playing.    This should change your Siren mode to HDSF(handsfree). 

 

I am not absolutely sure about this mode.   But i was playing around with it when i got my patterns to respond.    Won't be free to play GTA and test it until tonight(AKA 12 hours from now)

If it is wrong,  let me know to change my post and hopefully find the real solution.

Can't even get into the game without it crashing.

I spent 4 hours after it came out just playing with the patterns on each of my vehicle and trying out the siren, cruise lights, blackout mode, etc. It is fascinating because ELS v6 didn't come close to the different patterns this one is able to give you... For most of my vehicles E61 seems to be my favorite one I like to use but have a paper in front of me with all the patterns I like if I want to use a different pattern. Lt. Caine & Sam,  all the people who helped them test are the definately the cool cats in town.

 

 

They have made GTA 4 fun again for me.  I no longer start the game and wonder how long the game will run and how many times will i crash and restart( and give up).

 

 

   the cruise setting will be easy to play around with.   Page 14 of the pdf will have a simple graphic on the Extra 1-4 and its location in relation to the car.   And as i understand it,  not all cars may have their lights modeled in that order.  You may see something you don't expect on certain cars.  So test them one at a time or however you like to.
