  • Still a better Police experience than this game.

Well... Reading the comments above and after watching the trailer.. It seems to be pretty horrible

Checkerboard cars? What's that?

BTW: The game plays in Germany/Austria.

Actually, it's just Germany. Austrian Federal Police has different liveries and uniforms.

Proof

  • Mission completion sound is ripped from Emergency 4
  • Callout sound is ripped from Emergency 4
  • Ambulance & Paramedic models ripped from Emergency 4
There's probably tons more that I've missed. This wasn't made by the same people who made Emergency 4. Sixteen Tons Entertainment had nothing to do with this and to be honest could claim copyright on everything used in this game unless the models and sounds are open source material which I highly doubt.

Furthermore, it just looks horribly built. The controls are awful, the AI are incredibly stupid and the graphics are horrendous. Gameplay isn't much better. You head to one area, complete a basic call and then head to another area.

I haven't even played the game, but I've seen enough to say that there is no way this game is worth even 50p let alone £25.

Someone will probably say "You do better" but to be honest with you, I probably could.

Actually, they advertised this game with it being made by the creators of the Emergency series, Quadriga Games.

I just googled both Sixteen Tons Entertainment and Quadriga Games, and strangely they both have Emergency News on their website, although 16Tons' website looks a bit more professional...

EDIT: Actually, I just found out that I've been using the word "actually" way too often in this post... :whistling:

Well then I'm highly disappointed in Sixteen Tons.. They Should've at least asked to see some of Quadriga Games' previous work before allowing them access to their content.

Processor: Intel i5-6600 @ 3.30GHz

GPU: MSI ARMOR GeForce GTX 1080 OC

Ram: 16GB Skylake

I see building pop ups, jaggies everywhere, and many other graphic failures.

This game looks like a complete mess.

Of course, graphics don't make a game, but the content looks bad as well.

That game is named Die Polizei 2013 in german. A quick search on youtube will give you plenty of results. It's basicly the same as the previous version except the map is slightly bigger, you can now use 3 marked vehicles ( A 2 doors, a 4 doors and a mini-truck) as well as an undercover car. Now seriously there is a very small difference between the use of all the marked and unmarked vehicle. Speed slightly differ and none of them gives you extra ability. As a matter of fact you get the same reaction to your presence if you use a marked or an undercover car : Suspect either flee or attack you.

The game generaly revolves around this : A long loading time for each day of work (30 minutes shifts) where you are given a main objective like arrest 3 drug dealers or locate a missing person. While you are trying to accomplish this main objective, calls come in and you are the only response unit in the city. Calls are usualy about mugging, car accident or crime scene where you collect evidences and rush back to the lab so they can tell you in a matter of seconds who is the culprit. Then the same game mechanic comes in : You rush to the suspect location or estimated whereabout, you jump out of the car, sprint with your handcuffs out and when you are in a 10 meters range, you cuff the guy (unless he turns belligerent, then you must first hit him a couple of times on the head with the nightstick). Once that is done you cannot (and that sucks) bring the guy to the station. You must call in a transport who picks up the guy for you and drive him away. Same with cars and victims : You have nothing to do but to dispatch proper services on location. At some point the game should almost be renamed Dispatch Simulator.

As for similarities with Emergency 4 I say this: Imagine you are playing emergency 4 controlling only 1 police unit and in 3rd person view. The driving patterns and style for the AI are the same as emergency 4. Graphics are also very similar (if not exactly the same). Vehicle physic is awful too. On foot physhic too. Your cop can sprint 2km (a mile) without getting tired but can't jump over a fence or vault over a small obstacle. Those cops are so curteous they won't even walk on flowers (Solid objects, block you in your track.).

The game is good if you got half an hour to waste once in a while. So in general I would wrap this up by saying : Poor AI, poor graphics, poor logic, poor physic, minimalist concept which result in a product presented with a lack of efforts, lack of interest to pursue the game (No special units or roles to unlock, no story driven content, you are never really free of your actions either ... IE: If you wish to make a radar op, forget about it you will receive calls interrupting all the time which leads to my next point.), the fact that you are the only response unit for a town of that size is ridiculous! Police work is all about team work, not just 2 player controlled characters, which I must also add cannot be individualy controlled NO! If you move one of them, the other one follows. So forget about tactical planning, the game is all about rushing on the bad guys, give them a few (poorly animated) hits or a pepper spray shot (that only the female carries.... Rapist alert maybe? I wonder...) and then handcuff. The game becomes redundant after 2 shifts (1 hour) to the point where even the most patient players will take a break. Maybe the guys who developed this game should do a few ride along with some police officers because we are far from reality or even decent simulation. Also did I say you cannot give tickets/fines ? Yes you can use a radar camera but it only make a snapshot, without effect or sometimes tell you : This person is wanted, go get him tiger!

If you are looking for a good police game, I shall suggest the old DOS games (Yeah graphics are shitty but concepts are awesome!) such as Police Quest 1, 2 and 3 as well as Blue Force. If you are looking for fun all around, open gameplay and action, keep playing LCPD:FR and have fun!

Cheers

Please be advised the opinion expressed here is the one of the author.

In my opinion, the problem is that there's just not a big enough market for good police simulations.

Making an interesting police sim with modern graphics, different callouts and clever AI takes more money than the developer would make from the sales I guess.

I really hope that I'm wrong, but the fact that there isn't a single good police game around (not counting LCPDFR since it's a free mod) leaves me with no other conclusion.

All there is are sloppily programmed games with ancient graphics like this one, and I'm still kind of thinking of buying it once it's cheaper since there is absolutely no alternative....

But hey, Police Force 2 (=Polizei 2013) has made some slight improvements from the last version, so if they keep releasing a little better version every year, this might be really enjoyable in a few years.

I played the first one... It was fun at first but then it got repetitive so i just gave up. It got very boring after a while and now it just sites on a shelf with my other games.

If you want to me reply as soon as possible, then either quote or @CouthInk4  me as i'll be notified, a general reply will not notify me

These games (Police Force 1/2) are way too overpriced £14.99 on amazon is just a rip off as it doesn't accurately portray a German police force. I guess I'm just wasting my money... Also something that I noticed when it was installing is that it have PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of it's shaders, so they may be planing to (eventually) develop this game for PS3/Xbox 360 too (hopefully not)

Somehow I missed this topic back when it was posted and now that its been resurrected I can say that I wish I would have missed it the second time around. The gameplay looks horrible, the graphics equally as bad. It reminds me of something you could go to a game website and play online. Just by the look of the box you can tell its horrible. Granted LCPD:FR isn't perfect and neither are the related mods for IV but its the best thing we have right now IMO and its still a lot of fun, even after all this time

police force 1 was one of the worst games i have ever played
