So I bring this up because this is starting to become very annoying and I want to speak on it and get opinions. I am suggesting a rule be made that developers who make cars have to upload a downscaled version of their Cars,Peds, etc Because some people who have these high end systems (like myself) and Low end systems should be able to download whatever mod they want along with a system compatible resolution for them.

Let me explain...So currently anyone can download a car pack, skin pack,Ped pack and it be in 4K and not many peoples system can handle those. These developers are throwing out 4K items as if everyone has a beast of a system now I have a 8700k with a 2070 Super which is perfect and I say is high end now.......I can understand a singular item being 4K but a car pack or skin pack of multiple things in 4K is unacceptable. Now one would say "Why don't you just downscale the textures?" I shouldn't have to do that I should be able to install a pack and enjoy it...Half of these creators don't even make it known that they are using 4K/2K textures, They are just throwing things out there. Now I do love the content that people put out however I shouldn't have to downscale your creations because you were inconsiderate towards those with low end systems and fail to realize that 4K cars and peds aren't going to always work. I'd hope there is a rule that developers HAVE to have a downscaled version of certain things, It is a courtesy however I haven't seen one developer do that. Now if you had a 2K skin I could say sure don't upload a downscaled version but it's mandatory if you upload a 4K version of something.

Not just the liveries of the vehicles but the all textures of some emergency cars are in 1024( which Rockstar uses 512X512 as default to not overload the RAM or CPU), but is worse is that they even put 2048 resolution in a M16Rifle that is only decoration in the vehicles, it sucks sometimes we have to photoshop to downgrade the resolution ourselfs. I agree with your opinion on this, this should be mandatory in big mega packs that contain like 10 or more cars

I will say that that is annoying to not be able to run 4k, I will say that the developers who make these textures should have the freedom to choose. Sure it would be courteous to make a downsized version, I dont think they should be limited by some rule into making something they don't want to make.

I would disagree with making this a rule.

People make content how they want to make content, they are not enforced to make something they didn't choose to. There's a huge floodgate issue with such a policy. If texture/model creators have to upload a lower res file then shouldn't plugin developers also offer a less memory hungry plugin for those with low RAM? What about people with bad quality speakers? Should we force audio mod authors to downscale the bitrate of their audio for them?

If your system cannot handle running the higher quality files. You simply don't download them, and maybe look for an alternative elsewhere. I do agree, don't get me wrong, with the idea of offering a lower quality file. Similar to how ENB's tend to work. But I don't agree with forcing people to make such a thing.

I do see where you are coming from and I do agree not to force them to however I didn't specify I mean people who upload packs with 7-10+ vehicles and Peds. Little to no developers tell people that they have 4K or 2K textures they kinda just have you download and waste your time to only see that its 4K/2K

I'm glad you understand what I mean😄  You have the same idea I have when I mean pack "this should be mandatory in big mega packs that contain like 10 or more cars" that statement right there is what matters the most.

While I understand where you are coming from, this seems hard to implement and later, moderate.

It's just absurd that these people put out content knowing that there is a common problem and instead of solving it with a simple fix that would save the comments they just post it knowing somebody is going to say "These textures are too high" and the response will be "Turn your texture quality down" Just ludicrous

We can probably add some filtering for this soon so that you could select the type of textures you want. We could maybe automatically analyse textures so that we can do the filtering without needing information from the creator.

Well you know I never thought of that I completely forgot about filters, sort by's  Doesn't sound too bad

I will leave my opinion for complement, foundation and reading. Thank you now, for some response.

Creators need to understand situations where their modifications can impair the game's proper functioning, if they do not detail the resolutions in the description of the posts.

Not all users are aware of the quality of the files, the community simply downloads and follows the standard installation process.

For example, I only discovered the quality of the files after I started playing with Photoshop and developing my textures (about a month). It is surreal for weaker machines to run 4K textures, and without you knowing it, to think about countless problems including problems with other mods and not to think about that detail.

"There are but the problem resolves by decreasing the quality of texture".
Correct, but you can’t find more information about the files shared in the community, how can I know if that vehicle willn’t hurt my performance?

It doesn't have to be a rule, at least an important guideline being highlighted to provide more information and options, to improve the quality of the post. It would help a lot for those who are new and are getting to know the community.

Problem solution and suggestion:

This can be adapted by producing files of different sizes before finalizing the project and including in subfolders (or renaming the files) for installation. If you do not agree with this process, simply inform in your post that the size of the skin is 4K and may result in a loss of performance. It will definitely help and solve problems.

The production of different resolutions could be one more detail in the evaluation of the new Showcase and be better highlighted for providing rich and informative post content.

Reinforcement, there are many lay users, and also users with less powerful machines, thinking about them is a better way to contribute so that everyone has a good experience by the LSPDFR community.

Have mercy, creators, evaluate your creations and make your mod as accessible to everyone in the community.

Just as a bit of an update on this, we now have some custom-designed tooling to detect stuff like texture resolution of textures within GTA V texture dictionaries.

I'm working on integrating it into the site and will do this when I have some free time. Hopefully soon.

I get what your saying and hopefully there are tools that can help me/us out. It's just a hassle to get these cars put in game and then go patrol and see textures popping and the ground eventually disappearing. I check comments and see "Great work" or "This is a beautiful car/pack" "Another one well done" all to go in game and get negative results but not all the time

You should not force devs to make unnecessary changes or additions to their mods. Yes it might be curtious, but that is for the dev to decide if they want to put in the effort to make a downscaled version.

Here is my opinion on this

The LSPDFR community are lucky, that we have these talented creators making content for us. Everyone of them spent a lot of time making their content and some even spend money on various stuff, and then release their content on here for free. Yes...A lot of the cars are upscaled and can't be used by people with low tier computers. Is that a dev problem? Absolutely not.

If you know your computer is not that good, then chances you shouldn't being modding the game in the first place. As most mods on any game, will require a decent computer to run the mods at a decent FPS. Most devs even mention this in their "Read Me" files. If you have a problem with that, then there are several simple solutions to this problem.

1.Just don't download the content. Can't harm your game if it's never installed.
2.Learn how to make the content yourself and make it to your specifications.
3.Request customs vehicles from devs and pay for them.

4.Just save up and upgrade your computer.

I am not a vehicle dev, but I can say from experience as a script dev, if I was told I need to lower the file size or some other bizarre thing. I would simply not make mods for LSPDFR. Players have a choice when it comes to picking one out of thousands of vehicles. Plus it's pretty easy as a user to downscale it yourself. Dev makes a cool car for free, and should not have to "downscale" it for the sake of some users having slower PC's. If we were paid, sure. We're not though.

Not bashing on you in any way, just saying I think it's a bad idea and would cause a lot of great vehicle devs to leave.
