ALPR+ 1.0.2

ALPR+

ALPR+ is a plugin that I have been thinking about for a while now, but just never got around to writing it. After publishing major updates for both Code 3 Callouts and LSPDFR Computer+, I now have had some more time to devote to this.

ALPR+ is intended to model a real life ALPR (automated license plate recognition) system used by many police departments across the United States, as well as in Canada and other countries around the world. There are many different types of systems out there, and I must admit, I am not really familiar with the intricacies of any of them. However, I've done my best to make this plugin as realistic as possible.

The concept of ALPR+ was inspired by the Realistic ANPR plugin by Danielle. However, due to unknown reasons, Danielle has not been able to update Realistic ANPR in quite some time. It is quite unfortunate, as she did some great work on that plugin, and worked hard to make it as realistic as it was. I hope that I'm able to do the same with ALPR+. Like I said, I am not familiar with ALPR systems at all, and I've obviously had to develop ALPR+ from scratch.

ALPR+ is a plugin that I am quite proud of, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed developing it!!

Features

  • Inspired by the Realistic ANPR plugin by Danielle
  • Realistic detection logic which takes various factors into consideration, including vehicle distance, angle, line of sight, camera field of view, etc
  • When alerts are triggered, the player only receives information that the ALPR system would know
    • You don't get a blip on your map! The only information you receive is the vehicle model, color, which camera triggered the alert, and the license plate
  • Configuration file with customizable camera settings (for advanced users only; default values are highly recommended)
  • Eight different types of ALPR alerts, each with it's own potential probability weight
    • Stolen Vehicle
    • Outstanding Warrant
    • Suspended Driver's License
    • Expired Driver's License
    • Vehicle Registration Expired
    • Vehicle Not Registered
    • Vehicle Insurance Expired
    • No Vehicle Insurance
  • ALPR system automatically disables itself during traffic stops or pursuits, and re-enables them when the situation is Code 4
  • Integration with LSPDFR API
    • NOTE: ALPR+ does change some vehicle and ped records; LSPDFR natively generates a lot of peds with outstanding warrants, or expired/suspended licenses
  • Sound notifications when alerts are triggered
  • Integration with Traffic Policer API (optional feature)
  • Developer API
    • Set (or clear) either a pre-defined or custom flag on a specific vehicle
    • Events that are triggered when an event is either generated, or displayed
    • Get the ALPR flag for a specific vehicle
    • Get a list of ALPR results for the current session

Why do you modders keep forcing us to constantly update? Why couldn't you make this work with rage hook 40?

1) It's best practice to use the latest versions of things. They usually include bug fixes.

2) Updating RPH takes like, 2 seconds.

3) ALPR+ uses a brand new RPH function which is only available in version 41. It wouldn't work in 40.

But thanks for the condescending remark.

What a candyscending name.

Funny thing is, none of "us modders" are forcing people to update to anything, lol.

If you don't want to take the 2.2 seconds to update RPH, don't download it! :turned:

@Stealth22 Seems to be taking about twenty seconds to turn on or off. Big delay in pressing the key, to getting the system active/inactive message. Edit: same after multiple attempts, restarts etc, any ideas mate?

Lot of fps drop in the city when ALPR is active !

Can't drive with it enabled ^^ Other than that, the plugin is nice and realistic :)

I've not had any issues with FPS in or out of the city..

Has anyone with LSPDFR+ noticed that there are a lot more alerts again?

Same. @Pumpk1in, do you have a lot of vehicle mods?

Quick question. If I wanted to disable one of the 8 flags from occurring, is it possible to do so in the ini? Would I have to change one of those "weight" values to 0 or something?

Yes. The others would be increased to compensate, though. If the values don't add up to 100, the script adjusts them accordingly. But the one that you put at zero would be left alone.

Just out of curiosity, which flag are you disabling?

So I just need to make sure the other values add up to 100? Great!

And I want to disable the 2 insurance ones, only because our department doesn't use insurance as a primary infraction to pull someone over. Just personal preference.

I've really enjoyed the little bit of time I've been able to play with it installed. Thanks again.

You don't need to. Like I said, if they don't, the script will adjust them automatically, ignoring whatever flags you set to zero. You can just set the insurance ones to zero and you should be good.

Okay. Thanks for the clarification and quick response.

I've noticed some FPS drops in the city with this installed as well. Not 100% sure if it's this plugin or LSPDFR+ but I would think it's this since its running/scanning constantly? I'll have to test later to see exactly whats causing it.

It's not this plugin, or LSPDFR+. I have both installed, and I was playing LSPDFR last night with both running. No issues with performance at all.

You guys need to understand that framerates can fluctuate for literally hundreds of reasons. Just because your framerate drops a little bit doesn't mean that you have a buggy script installed.

No idea, sorry. But if your computer is taking that long to detect a keypress, maybe you need to blow everything away and reinstall Windows from scratch.

I haven't had a single person report performance issues with ALPR+. Like I said above, framerates fluctuate for so many reasons, its impossible to tell what it is. Just because you get frame drops after installing a plugin, and the issues go away after uninstalling said plugin, that doesn't necessarily mean that the plugin is to blame.

Same thing goes for Keep Calm. Hundreds of people have used my plugins without any problems.

I don't mean to be disrespectful, but please don't make unsubstantiated insinuations that my plugins create performance issues.

When the plugin is loaded there is no problem. It only occurs when I activate the alpr with F8.

Maybe its not your plugin, I don't know. Maybe its an incompatibility with another plugin, as I said I don't know, I just noticed that problem after using it so it seems logic to point an accusing finger to the last plugin installed, its not an attack against you.

Strange reaction.
