  1. After reading about similar problems across different games, it seems to be a problem with AMD (ATI) graphic cards. I would reinstall AMD Catalyst Control Center so it reinstalls the drivers. If that doesn't work, and you never find a solution, then getting a new graphics card would be the next thing to do. Wait, though, because someone might be able to provide more help. You could also try turning shadows down or completely off to try to mend the problem.
  2. Do you have updated drivers for your video card? Does it happen in any other games?
  3. You spent $9000 on a computer? And I thought my roommate was crazy for buying an $1800 laptop.... Anyway, I'm not sure what the problem is...the game is "strobing, flashing, blinking;" sharp edges stick out from Niko's hand, weapons, and buildings? Have you tried reinstalling the game?
  4. I don't believe they have a copyright on the name, but they should have called it something else just out of common courtesy. Different mod by different people = different name. The problem I have with people modding games on consoles is that, I'm pretty sure, it requires altering the system itself. Doing this is breaking the terms of use you agreed to with Microsoft. I'm not saying you will get banned, but if you murder someone and not get caught, does that make it alright? Obviously there is a huge difference, but it's the same concept. Just because you probably won't get caught doesn't make it okay. It's not a huge issue with me - nobody is getting hurt and I couldn't care less whether people cheated online with mods since I don't ever play online, so it's not like I'd make a big deal out of it.
  5. Here is a preview of one of the new features in the next version of vdH Police Helper!! There is no set release day yet - it will be released when it is ready.
  6. The letter in front is what type of light is being used. S=Strobe; E=LED; the other one=Rotators (R maybe?). The type of light used by the car is changed in the car configuration file. That is explained in the user guide.
  7. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have another L.A. Noire with a little more GTA things added to it like having a house and things to do outside of main missions. Still keeping with the character, however, where you would get penalized for running people over and being reckless. Police Tactics will have to do for now, I guess, which looks like it will turn out really good if the Alexandre adds everything he says he wants to.
  8. Rotty Siberian Husky German Shepherd Not really in any particular order.
  9. Well obviously you've never played Police Quest or just didn't like it. Precinct is being made by Jim Walls...the creator of Police Quest 1-3. He's been retired, so no he doesn't have any recent game industry experience, but what he does have is police experience. I can tell you're the type of person that cares too much about how a game looks. This isn't being made by Rockstar, Activision, EA, or any other big game company so it's not like it's going to have top-of-the-line graphics. Police Quest is from the 80's and is played in DOS...so, honestly, I'm expecting something more similar to that and will be happy with that. Edit: Also, look at Minecraft and how successful that is. Does it have proper graphics and animations? Does it look like GTA or CoD? No.
  10. Sorry, I can't. I don't have a working mic right now and I'm about to leave anyway. Besides, I gave you my suggestions and I'm sure you could find some more information by reading through this topic and using Google.
  11. Not necessarily...LA Noire was in development since 2004 but wasn't released until 7 years later in 2011. Agent was announced that it was in development in 2007. The title wasn't announced until 2009. It could still be in development.
  12. Recommend one what? Processor, video card, processor with integrated graphics? I don't know any good CPU's with integrated graphics. When I'm looking for CPU's I don't look for integrated graphics because I use a video card. If you plan on gaming, then you should feel the same way as integrated graphics can not handle any video game made later than 1995. If you want a good AMD CPU, get the FX-8350. It's really good for its price. There are better CPU's, though, but I'm not the person to ask about what is best.
  13. Yes, that CPU does have integrated graphics.
  14. The best way is to build a PC. I'm no good at building with a low budget, but I'm sure somebody could get something decent for $500. Try playing around with builds on sites. I used cyberpowerpc.com for mine, but I'm sure someone has a better site. Go there and mess around with builds or just buy the parts individually. My advice would be to go with an AMD processor since they are a lot cheaper and will get the job done. Here are my suggestions: The FX-8350 is only $190 and will definitely be good enough for now, but even going down to the FX-8320 would be good (I have the 8120 and it's works nicely). For video cards, I don't know much about AMD, but the Nvidia GTX 650 Ti will be good enough for at least medium settings. This case and power supply will be perfect (I have the same case). I would suggest 8GB DDR3 RAM, but 4GB is the absolute minimum (RAM comes relatively cheap). This would require a motherboard with an AM3+ socket, a PCIe 3.0 X16 slot, and support for at least 8GB of DDR3 RAM. You will also need fans and a hard drive (and OS). Adding up what I linked (using the 8320), the subtotal is $294.97 after rebates and before tax and shipping. This doesn't include a motherboard, RAM, hard drive, or fans.
  15. Well that's slightly better since it has DDR3 - although it's only expandable to 8GB (you shouldn't need more than that right now, but with next-gen consoles coming out, the PC requirements for games will be increasing). Again, it has the Core 2 Duo meaning to upgrade you'll probably need a new motherboard (that does meet the minimum requirements for GTA IV meaning you can probably play it on minimum settings). You will need a video card since Integrated Graphics will not do the trick whatsoever. I can't seem to find a manual to see what type of PCI slots it has. Another problem is that good video cards require good power supplies. It doesn't say what the power supply is, but my guess is you'll need a new one. Again, the case doesn't look very ventilated so it would probably overheat just with a new PSU and GPU. The problem is that the first PC is for a business lifestyle and this one is for home and student. On these types of PC's you will not find a GPU at all, only integrated graphics. They are also made to be low power so you will not have a good enough PSU to get a new GPU. The processor is meant for general PC usage, not games, although it will meet minimum requirements on older games. As I said before, it would be better to save money and build a computer yourself. Edit - another thing with getting a GPU but not a new CPU is that you will most likely bottleneck the CPU meaning the computer will not use the GPU to its full potential.
  16. If you plan on "upgrading" that, the first thing would be a whole new motherboard. That PC has DDR2 RAM. You're going to want DDR3 which isn't compatible with PC's using DDR2. It has an Intel Core 2 Duo which uses an LGA 775 socket. The best way to upgrade the processor would be to go to at least an i5 which requires, I believe, an LGA 1155 socket. The PCIe x16 slot is generation 2 where you are going to want PCIe 3.0. Based on what the case looks like, you're going to need a whole new one so your PC doesn't overheat with the upgrades. Basically, upgrading that will not work. It would be better to save up money to at least buy something worth getting to be upgraded, but I would suggest building your own computer on a website such as cyberpowerpc.com
  17. They literally just started making the game and already people are complaining? It's like saying a book will be a terrible read before it's written... Because of this, I just went and played Police Quest (the first one) and Blue Force. I love Police Quest (except having to figure out what it actually wants you to type - usually it's obvious though) and the part of Blue Force before you go on disability is amazing (the part where you actually are on duty as a police officer). The only thing I wish was different was that you actually drive to the places instead of just clicking on them in Blue Force.
  18. I've played the demo. It's fun, but I never bought it because the demo satisfied my flight sim craving at the time. I might play it again at somepoint.
  19. I read that this happens when the save game becomes corrupted. I've had this happen and the car wash thing happen and starting a new game fixed both problems.
  20. There are no modded police cars. He is playing on EFLC. There are more original police cars in The Ballad of Gay Tony (police3 - buffalo, police4 - stinger, policeb - bike, APC - APC)
  21. Will posted a gallery image in GTA IV Galleries
  22. http://youtu.be/ttkBTg6_egc (Skip to about 23:50 if you really don't want to watch the whole thing, but it is interesting how the orbits all change throughout the video.) The end of the world as simulated by Universe Sandbox. If it doesn't end because of the Earth becoming the closest planet to the sun, then it definitely will when it shoots away from the sun. According to this, that will be in the year 3448. Note: Please do not take this seriously as this is a video game (hence why it's in the Gaming category on YT and Other Gaming on here). Who knows if it will really be like this. It's also really interesting how the solar system slowly dies. Eventually, it seems, every planet will shoot away from the sun according to this game. Get the game on Steam today: http://store.steampowered.com/app/72200/ Music is Shadowland by Simon Wilkinson (played 3 times), used with a license. 23. I didn't read the whole thread, only the posts before my previous one (on the first page), but I'm going to say the same thing here as I just did on Facebook: Everybody complains about the news being wrong and biased, etc. but then everybody follows everything they say. I'm all for knowing current events and stuff like that...but things that actually apply to your area, your nation or the world. Yes, you can complain about the "system" but it's the same "system" that takes serial killers, real murderers, rapists, and all that good stuff off the streets. I haven't read much about the whole George Zimmerman thing because it doesn't really interest me, but it seems like something that should have stuck to that area. There's no reason for it to be worldwide news.
