  1. How does the senior leadership work currently in British police departments?
  2. In general, I'd imagine (and hope) that that would be the case. A bigger officer might have more presence, all else being equal, but presence almost certainly depends more on how the officer acts than on their size. And, of course, the ideal for police is *not* using force.
  3. Shouldn't the libertarians be opposed to public funding on principle?
  4. And then acquitted. (by the way, "impeachment" is just when the House brings formal charges. It does not necessarily lead to being removed from office; in fact, of the two Presidents who were impeached, both were acquitted by the Senate)

  6. In a recession? Standard Keynesian economic theory does say deficit spending is good in a recession.
  7. Here is a story from an ACTUAL police state, to compare. My best friend's family is from Ukraine. His father was born in early March, 1953. Understandably, his grandparents were really happy, because they had just had a kid. Coincidentally, Stalin had died just a couple of days before. The USSR was officially in mourning. My friend's grandparent's almost got thrown in a prison camp because they were happy just after Stalin died. Let me say that again. They were almost thrown in PRISON for being happy that they HAD A KID. THAT is a tyrannical state. Kansas? Not even close.
  8. How did you get that from my comment? I said "just because people disagree, doesn't mean they're stupid", and you took that to be me calling you stupid?
  9. I'm pretty sure that two people can disagree about political issues without either one being stupid or uninformed. That's why they're called "opinions".
  10. OK, what war crimes has he committed?
  11. Guys, have you considered that his real question could be "how do I get a .wft and .wtd into Zmodeler?"
  12. This. I happen to know a fair number of people whose families came from Eastern Europe. They are generally quick to correct anyone calling the US a police state.
  13. Did the police shoot him 6 times? If so, that doesn't prove anything. The news gets facts right, generally. They can distort things, but that doesn't really apply to "height minimum is 5 feet" vs. "minimum is 5 foot 5". Also, this is a stupid argument. Back to the topic!
  14. It's not just "some website", it's the LA Times.
  15. The LAPD has no minimum height. Even when they did, it was 5 feet, so you'd be tall enough. (Source)

  17. This. If you want to be a cop, stay out of trouble. If they're picking between two people, and one has a criminal record, they're probably going to take the other one.
  18. The CIA isn't a law enforcement agency.
  19. Farewell, Officer. May you be successful in your future endeavors.
  20. Chiefs of Police often aren't elected (especially the chiefs of big departments). Sheriffs are almost always elected.
  21. I think vehenvmap128 isn't in vehshare for some reason, but I can't remember where to find it.
  22. So it's just a poll? OK, then. I have the files. Of course, I can't send them to you, because of forum policy. (Seriously, don't try to claim that you're just wondering. No one believes you.)
