  2. Sure, the dog goes down - for 5 seconds (the length of a taser pulse). Then, it keeps attacking. Tasers don't last forever. There are only two ways to stop someone who is attacking a cop: Convince them to stop (possibly by inflicting pain until they do), or PHYSICALLY stop them. If you physically stop them, just stopping them once isn't enough; they have to STAY stopped. A taser can't do that. The only things that can are restraints (such as handcuffs and/or an officer holding the person down), or killing them. Normally, the goal is to put the person in a situation where they know it's a bad idea to fight (for example, the implicit threat of being clubbed if you try anything funny). That doesn't really work with dogs; you can't rely on them voluntarily stopping. You can't handcuff a dog. That leaves "officer wrestling with dog" as the only non-lethal way to stop it, and it's much riskier for the cop to do that than to shoot the dog (dog bites can result in serious injury). The cop is also under much less of an obligation to avoid lethal force; the life of a dog is not *that* important, legally.
  3. It's the cop's duty to help the person. What the dog thinks doesn't matter, because what the dog is actually doing is harming its owner by not letting people approach them. Also, I don't think tasing a dog works. Dogs aren't necessarily smart enough to stop when tased.
  4. Because what the dog thinks it's doing doesn't matter. Unless the dog is a trained paramedic, it isn't helping its owner by keeping people away. Also, *can* you really tase a dog? I don't think they've been generally tested against dogs. Tasing a person only actually stops them for a few seconds. Past that point, it is only effective because of 2 things: the person who is tased doesn't want it to happen again, and knows what to do to stop that (i.e. stop moving), and the police can move in and physically restrain them. Handcuffs don't really work on a dog, and it probably doesn't know how to avoid being tased again. So, you'd most likely result in the dog going down, getting up, and attacking again. EDIT: Also, remember that you don't have to minimize force against animals to anywhere NEAR what you have to do against people. Protecting human life and welfare trumps protecting animal life and welfare in all cases. One thing they teach us in driver's ed is that, if a (small) animal runs on to the road in front of us and there's traffic, to try to avoid swerving wildly or slamming on the brakes. The reason is that swerving wildly can easily lead to a crash, which can hurt people. The risk of hurting people is worse than hitting the animal. (obviously, you don't *want* to run an animal over, but crashing a car is worse)
  5. This isn't a glitch; it's intentional behavior. Are you sure they were M16s? I've actually been shot at by cops with sniper rifles from there.
  6. I did a very similar mod to the vest, and there was a bug where only the outside of the vest was visible (so where there was a gap between the vest and character, if you looked through the gap, that part of the vest was transparent). Did you manage to fix that? If so, how?
  7. I think I may have released exactly the same model combination as this. My mod was here: Are they exactly the same model combination? I believe mine was m_y_garbage combined with m_y_cop_traffic, though I believe that's the same vest as in m_y_construct_02. Not that there's anything wrong here; just sort of interesting.
  8. I believe that Sam said that EVERY contest submission will be released (it's not optional; the submitter has the chance to lock it before release, but it will be released).
  9. If you save the game in police skin, it corrupts the save, and you can't recover it (need to delete and start over).
  10. Lt. Caine made an LCPD uniform set with light blue shirts.
  11. That's an intentional change in v2. Also, it seems that the feature where people would put their hands up and drop to the ground if you pointed a gun at them has been removed in v2. Callouts involve a much higher level of violence ("has a weapon"="actively shooting at pople" now, it seems). I'm personally switching back to version 1. It doesn't have the GPS integration (where it will guide you to the scene), but it feels far, far more realistic than version 2.
  12. Doesn't that mess with the BOGT-specific paths, though? I know that BOGT uses different paths than IV.
  13. How do I get the paths in EFLC? I know EFLC has some extra paths that IV doesn't; is there a way to merge them?

It'd be nice to be able to manually enable and disable police3 and police4. I like using sports cars in police4, but that's the slot that spawns whenever I call for prisoner transport in EFLC. Somehow, I don't think real police send Ferraris to take suspects to the police station.
  15. You *can* convert it yourself, but you have to know how to model.
  16. Try out mdc.lcpdfr.com. It is a web interface that works like what you described.
  17. ELS-H is a special ELS pattern, nothing more. Setting a car to ELS-H means that it will always use that pattern, instead of the default of a random pattern.
  18. What happens if you pre-order it and then Rockstar decides not to make it?
  19. I'd believe they're not *supposed* to speak to people like that, even in the US. Whether they *actually* speak to people like that is another story.
  20. US cars are still made to be visible and easily identifiable; we just don't do a giant checkerboard. For example, black and whites are obviously police cars. I suppose you might see army camo on military police cars, as a thematic element (it is pretty bad for actual camouflage on lit roads). Fun fact: The Florida Highway Patrol livery was apparently originally designed to blend in with the road (hence black) and the terrain (hence tan).
  21. You can try using my tutorial to make one yourself. Warning: The strooper is much thinner than the regular cop, so there is a mismatch between an LCPD upper body and a strooper lower body. You can notice it on the jacket that comes on the strooper, if you look from the side; it is much more noticeable without a baggy jacket.
  22. Is that TLaD's ig_strooper?
