  1. Windows 8.1 Pro. I used to have Fedora installed, didn't really like it so I removed it.
  2. Graphics card's terrible. It'd run like crap. CPU's mediocre. Fix the graphics card and it will be playable.
  3. That might be a big part of the problem right there; with tons of people releasing half-assed ports of cars, pedestrian models and maps, Rockstar may figure "Oh, well let's just let the modding community handle it, we won't bother if they're going to all that trouble." I'd rather have a proper port of a game (if there is such a thing) rather than blocky looking, unfinished models with blurry textures, and unstable maps that only work for 10 minutes without crashing on an old game engine that has a hard time with traditional mods as it is. I'd rather everyone just cool their jets and wait instead of immediately trying to make GTA IV into GTA V.
  4. Yeah that's a fairly infamous COPS episode. To give you all some background on this segment: The guy being chased was a child molester that attempted to lure a kid into a closet with a $100 bill. He was stripped down to his underwear, and after arrest, he had to be hosed down by a fire truck because he had urinated and defecated himself. As the 2nd officer approached him to try and grab him, he took a swing and connected, hitting the officer right in the nose, but luckily the officer was able to get him into a headlock and keep him on the ground. Unfortunately, the suspect was able to bite the officer, and you see later in the segment that he did indeed penetrate the skin, so the officer needed to get tested for any diseases which is not something you see, obviously. During the struggle, more and more police officers show up. The shorter Asian one that shows up repeatedly punches the suspect in the kidney area, yelling at him to let go. Eventually enough people arrive that the officer who got punched is able to get up and walk away. He walks over to a nearby Taco Bell restaurant where the employees give him a cup of ice for his nose. The first police officer (the fat one who got tired of chasing the suspect) said that he actually had the guy in the back of his car, but he was able to kick out the window and run away, and that's how the chase started. The segment ends after a brief summary of what happened. If you ask me, they weren't rough enough with him. The fat cop didn't do very much to help if you ask me, but it could have been because they were on camera. The Asian cop who kept punching him was the only one actively trying to cause the suspect enough physical pain so he'd let go. Bravo to the cop who got punched for taking the guy down and keeping him there. He's tough.
  5. I think our method of counter-picketing works pretty damn well. Their hate's become a lot less effective in the last 3-4 years because of it. Even high profile stars such as Dave Grohl have taken to those kinds of measures. Anybody see the video of him doing an impromptu concert making fun of them?
  6. I don't think any true children of God would say they don't care about their fellow mans feelings. I don't know a whole ton about the Bible, but I know one of it's teachings is "Love thy neighbor as thyself." That means that your highest love is supposed to be God, but after that, is supposed to be yourself and your fellow man. They don't deserve any fire and brimstone from a mere mortal, God should be able to handle that on his own. If there is a God and a heaven and hell, all of us can wait our turn to explain our lives to Saint Peter when we reach his gates.
  7. This is pretty great, and a new record I think. They were run out of the town in about two minutes. It's good to see the local biker clubs learned how to handle these guys from 'The Patriot Guard' biker club. The way one town handled it was they lined up about ten times as many bikers, along with the entire fire department, and they revved their engines and hit their sirens to drown them out, and used the large trucks to block them from view.
  8. I guess so. I just read the requirements for the latest Lord of The Rings game, they're almost identical. Recommended is almost double the hard drive space, 8GB of RAM and an Intel 3770.
  9. The Intel 3770 isn't an 8 core CPU, it's a quad core. I'd know because I have one, the unlocked version of it. And the FX-8350 technically has 8 cores but they're all smaller and less productive than the Intel ones. I'd bet dollars to donuts it doesn't take advantage of all of the available cores anyway. On a side note, a 6GB of RAM minimum requirement is ridiculous.
  10. The desktop in your basement is even worse and that Walmart PC is a waste of money. It has no graphics card and even if you put a good one in, the poor CPU would bottleneck its performance. Save up another $300-400 then buy a reasonable one.
  11. You can use a proxy to get around that.
  12. Rob? Yeah he's a funny guy. He appears to have a dream job, too.
  13. Kind of reminds me of this siren but its a higher tone:
  14. We do need details on your motherboard and power supply. Consult your manual for the motherboard and consult the sticker on the side of the power supply for the max wattage rating.
  15. Never seen one before, and probably for good reason. It definitely looks old, never seen one on a Boston cruiser. I'm sure modern LED's do a good enough job anyway. My local P.D. says amber lights actually prevent crashes better than Red & Blue, especially with color blind people.
  16. What? It's because you have to buy the full version of the video...
  17. One of my favorite things about summer is this noise: Someone invented a funny use for it too:
  18. They do on the full version of that segment which is 9 minutes. It's from one of their DVD's. You can rent their full length movies on YouTube for like a dollar or two, or you can buy them permanently on Amazon. The $500 Car Challenge is a great segment too. It's a lot longer, but worth the watch. Pretty much like Top Gear. Part 2 I love when one of the co-hosts jumps out of his car in stopped traffic to beat on his friends car with a club. Or when one of them leaves their P.O.S. car parked with the keys in it to see if someone steals it.
  19. I dunno if any of you have seen that guy's channel, but it's pretty cool/funny. They do feature some brief demos of exotics and super cars, and also have some Top Gear style challenges every now and then, and I thought this was an interesting one. The ending is pretty funny. You have to watch the whole 5 minute clip to get it in full context, though.
  20. Core i7 3770K, 6GB DDR3, GTX 670, Windows 8. It's not a horsepower issue. I don't use a trainer, I'm talking about the normal vehicle rotation. If you think it would help, I can try installing a trainer and spawning one that way. It's not a semi-often occurrence, it's every single time so it's not a fluke, I'm afraid. I've also tried two models as mentioned above, the Tahoe which works fine in GTA IV and the Ford Expedition. It shouldn't be a model problem either. Something about my install of the game and my computer setup doesn't match. I had a weaker PC prior to this one (AMD 955BE, 6GB DDR3, GTX 570, Windows 7) and I didn't have texture loss anywhere until sessions of play stretched out for long periods of time. I now have twice as much graphical memory, a stronger GPU core and a more powerful CPU and I can't use the last island at all without complete texture loss and my POLPATRIOT slot won't load high poly models.
  21. Nope, by and large police officers ride alone unless it's in a notoriously dangerous city where officers often get jumped or overwhelmed. Las Vegas, Boston, New York, Miami and Los Angeles are great examples where two people per car is average. But other places that should have massive coverage have very little. Troopers in Alaska ride alone, and they're spread extremely thin so not only is backup not with you at the drop of a hat, backup could be in another county. Our government simply won't pay for more law enforcement, and quite frankly I think they should. We need it in several states. All that being said, the risk of being shot or beat up in the line of duty is rare in the U.S. as a whole, but certain areas (like some of the cities mentioned above) or certain task forces (like gang or narcotics) have their risk of hard contacts increased massively.
