Try installing the drivers in compatibility mode.- I applied to the Mishawaka Police Department Today!
Good man, I hope you get the job. If not, make as many friends as you can with that department or any other officers for that matter. Individual town departments are tough to get into. The way my local P.D. explained it to me is this: They look at people from within town first, they look at military background second, and the also hire people who ensure their department reflects the community it serves. As an example, if your community were largely Hispanic, they'll want mostly Hispanic officers. They also look for a balance of male and female officers. Getting a spot can be tough. If this doesn't work out for you, check out the Sheriff's department. In any event, good luck.- Gaming pc
That PC isn't worth what it costs. At a glance I saw no mention of the graphics card, but its a slim tower. Low power, not up-gradable. I'd highly advise against it. Build your own.- My county unveiled their new patrol car + anti-dui cruiser
It absolutely can. I just don't think anybody has thought of this before, but it could be a good idea. It could even be a new type of callout in LCPDFR if you're in that type or cruiser. Basically combining the in-game taxi missions with drunk pedestrians and your job is to get them in the car and drive them home, or if they get combative, bring them to jail instead.- Russian troops in Crimea
Yup, any big country in NATO will likely be involved in this in one way or another, even if it's financial or arms support. The U.S. just voted to give Ukraine 11 billion dollars, and if it comes to fighting, I'd imagine the U.S.'s next step would be to give them weapons and vehicles while other countries (like Canada as an example) gives them more money and weapons. If it gets really extreme, boots may be put on the ground. I sincerely hope it doesn't come to that. I'd like our country to be friendly with Russia, I really would. But Putin's territorial aggression isn't making that easy. As said above, history is repeating itself. I can only hope that the U.N. and NATO put the boots to this issue fast, before it gets out of hand. I will say this though; if Russia by itself pisses off more countries than just the U.S. enough to take up arms, they're going to lose. They can't fight everyone.- Question to all with Windows 8.1 and LCPDFR 1.0
No problems here. Any crashes I have are due to car mods.- My county unveiled their new patrol car + anti-dui cruiser
Very cool. 2nd one is a great idea. A lot of police agencies say "We aren't a taxi service" to some drunk people left without a ride and I can understand that, but this is something that can help people to avoid ruining their lives. I suggest giving them a copy of the back seat directed dash cam video for later viewing too. That might help them to sober up in the future. Or not. People are weak.- Russian troops in Crimea
Problem? The United States is indeed involved due to our history with Russia and the current sanctions the U.S. is looking to put in place against Russia. So stop the backseat moderating. The U.S. unfortunately, is nicknamed the world police because we get involved in conflicts in Europe. Primarily because we tried being an isolationist country, and that got us attacked by a foreign nation anyway. The European nations of France and England were severely weakened by World War I and despite being members of the League of Nations, were unable or unwilling to stop Germany from wreaking political havok, and eventually waging war during the 1930's and 1940's. The U.S. had the manpower, and the production resources to do it. So now it seems as though now we are a top member of NATO and one of the premier heavyweights in the United Nations because of it. We are one of the only countries with enough resources to try and quell global conflicts before they get out of control. It's either that, or the U.N would have let people like Kimg Jong Il and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (and even though those two people are no longer in power, equally bad people have replaced them) do whatever they wanted with their nuclear program and anti-western brainwashing, or let a private contract para-military group handle the problems. And letting a private contract army have world influence could be extremely dangerous. The United States is by no means perfect, but we share the same morals as our western European neighbors across the pond, and stand as a beacon of freedom and democracy. I'd stop talking about war track records if I were you, too. Every nation has a win-loss record that's less than perfect, including Russia who had their own version of Vietnam when they tried to invade Afghanistan. Remind me, how fast did most areas of the Netherlands get rolled by the Germans in the 1940? Days? Weeks? You're the person who's gotten most off-topic here. If you have a negative U.S. view, that's fine. You have a right to that opinion. Just keep it to yourself unless you want to cause problems on an otherwise civilized forum board.- Is Battlefield 4 PC worth it?
Never had any technical issues before. Hitboxes suck, netcode is terrible (IE: You shoot someone first and they kill you instead, on their end they claim they shot first). They are promising improvements on it and I believe them, but it's going to take time.- Russian troops in Crimea
How I see it, is that Hitler saw a chance to nab ethnically German Sudetenland from a weakened Czechoslovakian government, and he just used the "the Germans are being persecuted" claim as a pretext to invasion. ^ 1938 version, amirite? All we need now is a British diplomat to head over to Russia and sign some kind of treaty, then we're all set for World War III. Also, I wanted to post this:- Russian troops in Crimea
- Prank thread.
That's extremely cruel. On a design note for the EAS video, that was very, very well done with the exception of claiming that '1,000 missiles' had been launched. That number's pretty excessive, even with multiple countries involved. I also have no idea how people would stay tuned for further announcements if they all have to hide in their basements. But all in all, it's pretty chilling to listen to that.- Russian troops in Crimea
You never know what kind of stuff any government has up their sleeves or when the breaking point is. If some little country decides it wants to fight for itself, we can supply them with aid such as weapons, food and potentially even boots on the ground to prevent further troop movements inside Ukraine, if the U.S. does not wish to directly declare war on Russia. This could be a great source of income for us, as supplies to other countries (see the lend-lease act) was one of the ways the U.S. got their economic groove back. Also, the caucuses isn't the only area where people can get oil from, anyway. We do the majority of our business in the middle east, Romania has plenty of the stuff and depending on if our relations with Russia goes sour or not, supposedly there are untapped resources in Alaska. I'm sure there are other countries out there who can supply it too, but those are the sources I can think of off the top of my head.- Russian troops in Crimea
NATO kept troops, weapons and technological resources on standby for 50 years while Russia was essentially concentrating on the continental U.S. They weren't useful as a diplomatic force, but they were allies America wanted and should still want as far as I'm concerned. The Georgian invasion was left without serious consequences because they pulled out when the U.N. told them to. Bush Jr.'s threat to Russia was something that shouldn't have been issued. Perhaps Putin thinks the U.S. is soft because the Bush Jr. white house didn't actually do anything physical when Russia threw their weight around. Putin is making a big mistake if he's thinking that is the case.- Russian troops in Crimea
Yeah that was more what I was on about. That whole idea is too "romantic" to ever take place, maybe just implied intimidation, which is what's happening now, I guess. No idea what's up with the missing patches on the Russian troops at the airports either. I don't know who they think they're fooling. Their armored personnel carriers have Russian flag insignia on them, and one even broke down on the side of the road so an AP photographer could get some snap shots of it. They could have at least spent the extra 20 minutes putting duct tape on all of their flag symbols if they wanted to conceal themselves more thoroughly. On a more lighthearted note about Russia: Some of these videos were shot just mere days ago. Videos have sound starting at 0:18.- Northern California School Bans American Flag Shirts
Really, everything is going to come down to the lawyers and judges who will bother to hear the case. I dunno how many trials you've watched on TV, if any, but a lot of the law suits that get through the system somehow and the murder charges that people get acquitted on, it's beyond belief. I did jury duty when I was 22, and I was with a relatively smart group of people each time, with the exception of the 2nd case (I was on three jury's, the foreman of my first one) where I had to explain what 'Proof beyond a reasonable doubt' is to middle aged people 5 times before they understood, even though it's on a piece of paper that the judge hands you before you go to a locked room to deliberate on a verdict. But I largely despise our court system. The Casey Anthony trial was a great example. I knew that there would be no justice served when some black guy on the jury said "No matter what the verdict is, God will be her ultimate judge". I knew the case was doomed right then. And there I was thinking: Nobody cares about god in this case. Get that **** out of your head, a little girl died, and you need to be a man and use your brain, the thing that separates you from an ape, and apply it to this case 100%. We asked a Floridian jury to deliver justice during the Casey Anthony trial, and they failed miserably. Then we asked another Floridian jury to do it again for the Zimmerman case, again, Florida failed. Yet around the same time, they had no problem sending some black lady to jail for 20+ years for firing a warning shot when her husband was physically abusing her. Zimmerman actually killed a guy. Anyway, this is getting way off topic. My point is laws are no use if they're interpreted and enforced wrongly.- Russian troops in Crimea
Damn it, I knew somebody would bring this up... Alright, so I'm sure plenty of people are going to debate me, but here we go: 1.) I'm aware of no such alleged agreement between the U.S.A. and the Ukraine that we would prevent them from being invaded. We've had little to do with them throughout modern history, even before WWII. Once Russia started pushing the Germans out of their area, England and America's armies didn't go there. The countries that would form NATO would be more concerned with keeping the Soviet Union from completely taking over Germany and pushing on westward for the next 50 years, give or take. 2.) The 'Phony War' was a result of the still war weary nations of France and England (WWI fatigue) not wanting to be drawn into another World War. They continued to let Hitler rattle his sabers and take over small chunks of land in an attempt to keep him satisfied, but he wanted total conquest. France had no means of fighting an offensive war in the 1930's and 1940's. They lost a lot of men during WWI and they had a severe dip in birth rate. England had financial troubles and was attempting to shrink their army. The 'League of Nations' was a joke. World War II stemmed from a lot of different things, but two things that don't catch a lot of blame, but really should are The Treaty of Versailles, and Neville Chamberlain. A good reason why so many people were supportive of Hitler was because France and England more or less castrated Germany as a country, both militarily and financially. They made them agree that they were 100% to blame for WWI and owed everybody reparations money. Hitler started a national "revival" which people were glued to, they wanted to be proud to be German again. Neville Chamberlain I blame for being too soft and unable to see the looming threat. The threat of an oncoming European war should have been clear in 1935 with the reveal of the Luftwaffe, since Germany was at the time forbidden to have an air force, and even more so in 1938 after the re-unification with Austria and the attempted hostile takeover of Czechoslovakia before Neville Chamberlain gave away somebody else's country in exchange for no more territorial demands in the future. He should have known what kind of man he was dealing with, and he should have been seriously re-arming sooner than he did, or even help France with their system of bunkers, the Maginot Line. Hitler had been in power for 5 years before anything significant had been done to prepare for war. 3.) The Cold War was a lot more serious than people think. The Cuban Missile Crisis wasn't the only time the world was a button push away from being completely annihilated. There was a false detection from a Russian satellite of U.S. missile launches in 1983 that could have resulted in disaster, were it not for a cool headed Russian officer who decided the computer was being buggy. In fact, the flashes seen by the satellite were high altitude clouds that create sun flares that look like launch flashes. In addition, while Russia is not nearly as technically capable as some NATO countries are, they can still put together a massive standing army, and as history has proven time and time again, their land mass would be next to impossible to conquer, and that's what a country would have to do in order to get them to stop fighting 100% in the event of all out war. Germany lobbed 3 million men at them (which is about the size of our standing army right now) and it couldn't be done. The U.S.A. is a big country, Russia is a big country. People around the world can say what they want, but we're still the world heavyweights, and a fight between us would mean another world war. World War II's death toll is now estimated to be as high as 70 million people, and over half of these deaths were civilians. World War III could be far worse if started. The United Nations has done a better job of keeping the worlds various military powers on a chain up until now. We're all going to have to hope that unlike the League of Nations before it, they can stop the fighting before it starts. Otherwise, history will start to repeat itself. My personal opinion; Let Ukraine figure out who their president should be. They're all grown up and the internal fighting has calmed down already. Also, on a side note; Europe may get oil from Russia, but Russia has a major lack of vital raw materials to build things with, and they rely on Western Europe for that. So trade sanctions or sacrifices are a possibility. The only problem with that is, trade sanctions were a big reason as to why Japan attacked the U.S. in 1941. Because we choked them off of trading after we told them to stop invading various places in China. Phew. I need to rest.- Northern California School Bans American Flag Shirts
A few curve balls for all those reading, especially on the Nazi & KKK references; 1.) Free speech doesn't cover slander. 2.) Businesses and organizations can write in their own set of rules prohibiting or allowing any potentially provocative material. They have that freedom, the same way that the parents have the freedom to make sure their kids don't attend school there if it makes them feel better. 3.) Kids aren't entitled to all of the same constitutional rights that adults are. What I took away from the BBC version of the article: It's probably a stereotypical East Californian mid-income school with a large Hispanic population that come from poor immigrant families who are clashing with the formerly dominant white population in the school. The teachers were afraid of skirmishes over race during a Mexican holiday because they can't control the kids themselves and they're too afraid/lazy/poor to call the police in or hire security, so instead they told the white kids (which are now the minority in that school) to not wear U.S. flag shirts. Since American flag shirts were banned, I would have just worn these instead: "You think anybody wants a round-house kick to the face while I'm wearing these bad boys? ...I don't think so."- Clans? and Computer Specs
Yup.- Should I?
Gonna have to disagree with that. The last car I bought was $13,000 more or less, used, haven't spent more than a couple of thousand on it yet in repairs and maintenance and I've had it for five years so far.- Clans? and Computer Specs
Mediocre setup, overpriced. It should play GTA with fair settings, it won't recognize your second graphics card, a lot of games won't.- Should I?
No. You'll spend as much money fixing that car if not more, than you spend on the actual car itself.- Cars Randomly Stopping
The only mod I'm aware of anywhere along those lines is 'Less Overtaking' which does the opposite. Basically it stops cars from going around your patrol car while you're on traffic stops. Not aware of one that lets them go freely due to the console interaction that the police computer does behind the scenes (like Iconography said) but it would be kinda neat. Alternatively, you can always let the cars pass you and then use the police computer, or just ignore it. There are a lot of little glitches I've had to ignore since I first played LCPDFR, because we've always been somewhat at the mercy of how the GTA IV engine behaves. Small things like that don't bother me now as much.- Blank Cop Ped Textures?
I'm not sure what you mean by 'blank'. You'd have to edit the existing clothing textures located in each '.wft' file by exporting them, editing them in a program like Photoshop, then re-importing them over the old one (making sure to rebuild and save the archive after you're done so the changes stick). - My arachnid cicuriana isn't working correctly.
