They were convicted in federal court. The case in here probably won't even make it to state court. The only reason why there was a public statement that the officers were wrong, let alone a trial, is because of how publicized it was. And again, since you failed to answer this before, how is someone walking slowly towards officers fleeing from them?

Yes, they were charged. They weren't convicted. Therefore, they did get off. And you didn't answer my question. Why would an agency tarnish its PR by agreeing that multiple officers acted badly at the same incident?

Considering the outcome of the Rodney King trial, I'm not going to be surprised when they get off. Think for just a second. Why would an agency agree that they acted badly?

Instead of running out by the front of his vehicle, he slowly walked towards officers. That must have been the worst police escape attempt in history if what you are claiming is true. As I just said, he probably wasn't fully coherent after just crashing his car. That should have been taken into account, because in his non-coherent mind, he probably thought he was giving up.

Yes, my analogy had everything to do with the video. Except it wasn't as severe. The suspect wielding the knife, having just committed a felonious assault, was still fully coherent. Someone who had just got in a crash like that probably isn't thinking straight directly afterwards (not that he was thinking straight running from the cops to begin with). The knife wielding suspect just dropped the weapon, much like the suspect in the video left the car. The suspect that wielding the knife, now unarmed, is slowly walking towards you. You have at least a dozen officers behind you providing backup. Do you shoot? Your acting like the suspect sprinted towards the back of the car. Look again. He walked towards it. That is in no way a threatening manner (except maybe in the "great battlefield of america" so many adrenaline junkie cops look for). Had he tried to pop open the trunk, a shooting would've been justified because of the heavy suspicion I just talked about in my previous post. But until there is confirmation that a suspect is still armed or about to be armed, a shooting isn't justified.

Like I was saying earlier, as soon as someone willingly removes his or her control of a weapon, shooting that person is no longer justified, regardless of what they just did. And until there is confirmation that there is a weapon or heavy reason to suspect that there is a weapon (ie: Plastic knife, BB gun made to look real or airsoft without orange flash hider) still in control of the suspect, lethal force isn't justfied.

So, if you saw someone stab someone, then barely move for 30 seconds, then drop the knife and walk slowly towards you, would you still be justified in shooting him? Because a similar thing occurred in the video.

If that was a charge, it was the slowest one I've ever seen, and done at a walking pace. Generally for pursuits, police put someone with a less than lethal option by the front. A taser has an effective range of 25 feet. The suspect was within that range, and even if he wasn't, that is why there are cops with guns. Not to shoot the suspect that is non threatening, but if there is no other option. And if you look closely, the police start opening fire before he fully opens the door. The guns are there for when someone threatens others with a lethal weapon and makes no indication of giving up. Getting out of the car (as an analogy with a gun, dropping the weapon) and walking doesn't justify lethal force.

I don't really think people should comment on things until they have seen it. He left the car, leaving him unarmed. Being he was just in a violent car crash, then it should be reasonable that he isn't thinking coherently, and he was more than within range for a beanbag shotgun or a taser. And it being acceptable to kill people because prisons are full is a truly sickening statement. If they truly cared about having prisons that aren't full, they should quit prosecuting people for victimless crimes.

Last night in Los Angeles, a suspect was running from the police in a corvette. After crashing into another vehicle at an intersection, the suspect tried to continue driving, but was stuck by a traffic light and a parked car. Upon exiting the vehicle, while he didn't have his hands up, he made no move to or indication that he had a weapon. The police opened fire with lethal rounds. Justified? You be the judge. In my opinion, he posed a significantly less threat upon leaving the vehicle (in essence, dropping his weapon) and this was the prime time for a beanbag shotgun or a taser. MODERATOR NOTICE WARNING! Yeah, just sign a bill into law and 300 million guns will disappear into thin air. Or, maybe, we put aside political bias and realize that almost all mass shootings end once a good guy with a gun shows up. And then, instead of relying on a police response time that tends to be 4-5 minutes (more than enough time to inflict carnage) for urban areas, let alone rural areas that can have response times that are between 10 minutes to an hour, we actually allow teachers to train for active shooter situations and we allow willing teachers to carry concealed weapons so that they can adequately protect the people they are required to watch over for 7 hours a day.

You mean, like, the strict laws that already exist in Colorado on guns, the strict laws nationwide against having a gun in a school, and most of all, the strict laws against shooting people?

But in this case he did have a weapon. A 2,000 pound+ vehicle that had already been used to assault 3 officers. That guy is lucky he didn't get himself shot, which the police would've been fully justified to do. EDIT: Just in case it wasn't clear, I wasn't saying you believe it wasn't justified. I was just adding onto your thought.

I've heard a lot of accusations of abuse in that jail system from other sites I visit. This really doesn't surprise me, and it is probably much more officers involved.
