  3. It can be changed, but it takes a talented firearms instructor, an officer truly wanting to learn a valuable skill, and constant repetitive training afterwards. A majority of police departments will only qualify with firearms 4x a year, and most of that is done standing still in as perfect of a stance as possible at a fixed distance, while knowing that the gun is about to be fired. Additionally, most cops do not shoot outside of their qualifications. One of the needs for strong training is that when fecal matter hits the fan, the mind stops working and it becomes muscle memory. One example where this was apparent was the Newhall Massacre in California. At the time, it was standard at the range to pick up brass after firing in order to keep it clean and to resell. After one of the slain officers fired all 6 shots from his revolver, he stopped to pick up his brass instead of reloading due to muscle memory. The ex Arizona DPS officer I've referred to a few times worked with 2 FBI agents to develop a training program that focuses on possible scenarios (imperfect stance, moving target, simulating stress) as much as possible. As he puts it, a police officer involved in a shooting that plays out like most training might as well have won the lottery. Since his training has been implemented, 11 of the 13 cops he has trained that had to pull their triggers on a suspect have not missed.

  5. Seriously? You all say that you need permission to upload it, then you immediately tell someone where to find a more recent version of it?

  7. Here's an article from today, showcasing the new LAPD Ford Interceptors: http://www.policemag.com/blog/vehicles/story/2013/10/iacp-2013-lapd-s-next-gen-ford-police-interceptors.aspx
  8. It's basically a 9mm fitted to be fired from a .40 shell, meaning more powder propelling it forward. It's penetration is superb, plus it holds the same amount of rounds as the standard .40. The good ammo can penetrate level II and level IIA body armor (as a comparison, one of the traditional rounds that will penetrate level IIA is .44 magnum), while those will stop 9mm, .40 and .45. While it is slightly more expensive, barrels can be swapped leading to practicing with cheaper .40 rounds and carrying .357 sig.
  9. Please stay on topic. This is about sidearms, not how to become a cop.

  11. And I don't believe free speech should be banned. I just believe it should be limited to face to face interactions and criticism for the government shouldn't be allowed. See the difference? What? Saying the name of the company makes it scarier? Sig Sauer primarily makes 9mm handguns, and one of their best sellers is a Sig 238 (.380 caliber, smaller than a 9mm). You really have no right to say what is "enough" for some one's self defense, as you are not that person. For all you know, I could live out in the country where bears are a big problem. Am I supposed to rely on a 9mm handgun or a .22 rifle? No, I'll take a .308 or a bigger round, or preferably 12 gauge, any day. Furthermore, those people out in the country may have someone coming at them from a longer distance. A 9mm handgun is not effective for self defense past close range. As one local cop said it to me, a handgun is there to fight your way back to the gun you should have brought. An AR-15 is a perfect self defense weapon for around the home because it is easier to use, more accurate and has less wall penetration than most handgun rounds. Next, different people shoot better with different guns. I personally like double action handguns like CZ's. Other people like glocks. Others like 1911 styled guns. You limit them to a gun/caliber they are uncomfortable with, I guarantee they will shoot worse. Also, you have no idea on modern ballistics. With the way bullets are made now, quality ammo has the same effects from a .45, .40 or a 9mm. Furthermore, the thing that makes .22 an incredibly deadly round, despite its size, is that it ricochets around inside a body upon impact, piercing multiple organs, while standard ammo will punch through or fracture (I know a cop who's had a majority of fatal shootings he's dealt with come from smaller caliber handguns, with a lot of fatal .22 wounds). What I got from what you are saying, to paraphrase, is that "guns don't save people," from your quote of "What gun saves you then." And to be honest, what your parents think doesn't have any relevance to anything unless they are directly involved. In this thread, it is about your opinions, not your parents'.

  13. It works in multiplayer (back when I first got involved in clans we used it). As far as map add-ons, the only thing that can be done with LCPDFR is traffic stops/pursuits (if there is a pedpaths file). Callouts are not supported because they are on coordinates that will most likely be inaccessible to a map mod (ie: people inside buildings in IV:SA, but if it was the same coordinates in GTA 4, they would be in an alley). However, I'm pretty sure you need to use a station to go on duty in .91, so coordinates for the station might prevent going on duty altogether.

  15. Fine then. When you become a cop (if you get accepted with your hot hotheadedness and extreme views, which contradict the document you will have to swear to uphold), try to patrol a gang infested neighborhood unarmed. After all, "what gun would save you then?" Anyways, the fact people so instantly inject "GUN!" anytime an event at a school occurs, it is troublesome that such a level of violence is common enough to be immediately assumed.
  16. According to US law, it is illegal for all felons to posses a firearm. Since blank firing guns are actual guns, only modified, it would still be a felony.
  17. I feel like people in strip clubs would tell someone in uniform to go away, especially in the GTA universe where illegal activities in them are more likely to happen.

  19. Isn't this a question to ask a lawyer from your own state, not a global community? While I highly advise against relying solely on any posts on this site, guns are modified to fire blanks, but they can be modified back, which would cause an issue and most likely prevent a felon from legally possessing one. Some things a felon could own for self defense (depending on state of course) are a crossbow, Airsoft guns, baseball bats, or paintball guns.
  20. No, but being that it is a facility that the government requires the most defenseless members of society to attend, the least the government can do is make sure that students are adequately protected. Allowing teachers who choose to carry concealed in school, which I'm sure there are many who already have permits for their state, strengthens the security of that school.
  21. Where exactly did you get the idea I support kids carrying guns? Schools should at least have armed security, but in my opinion, allowing teachers to carry concealed if they so choose, as well as required advanced training, would be better.
  22. Pretty sure that already happens. One key example is the story this thread was created for.
