GTAIV (els) lights looks so crappy
Yes indeed it's the visualsettings.dat. If you want to use the visualsettings.dat that came with icenhancer, then I suggest you open visualsettings.dat, find these lines: # Other emissive lights car.defaultlight.emissive.on 60.00 car.defaultlight.emissive.off 0.0 And you need to change this "car.defaultlight.emissive.on" value to a higher number. I'm guessing it's on a low number right now. You might need to use something like 100 to get a nice strong effect.

Yeah my nasty broke-ass computer is crashing gta iv exactly at the moments when els v8 is not installed. Damn, these computers have a mind of their own these days, and they are very angry with us users for some reason.

I suggest disabling the secondary lights while the primary lights are on, that's how all my nypd cars were.

ELS v8 bug list
If I remember well, the corona takedowns will be placed where extra5 and extra6 dummies are located, so it highly depends on the car you have. @nightprowler Is "G" your button to sound the horn in GTA? ELS v8 disables the ELS sirens, and it uses the default gta iv siren in multiplayer. So if you honk your horn with "H" for example in GTA IV, that's what you have to use when the primary lights are on.

Nice picture, but I assume you have the secondaries on with the primary lights as well. It should be only the primary lights. Secondary lighs are only used for traffic stops or as warn lights.

ELS v8 bug list
You can't attach it to the boot. You have to leave it as extra_*_L0. After that you have to link that to the boot with it's dummies (grab the extra_* dummy and pull it into the boot dummy in the hierarchy. So it'd look like: (-)boot <-- dummy boot_L0 <-- mesh boot_L1 (-)extra_1 <-- dummy extra_1_L0 <-- mesh Anyway this isn't really related to ELS v8 EDIT: Also I forgot to mention in the first post, that sometimes my fps gets insanely low (2 fps) after I play for a while in MP. I think this one is randomly occuring as well, and I have no idea what caused it exactly, however when I remove ELS v8, the problem no longer occurs.

Blue/Red Reverse Lights
What material did you use exactly? It has to look like "name_of_texture_you_are_using lightsemissive". And you don't apply it in vertices mode, you have to go into faces mode (1 left from the normal mode), select the polygons you want the material to have with separated tool, or whatever tool you like to use, hit "selected mode" (so it's red) and then go to material viewer, select your material, and hit apply. After that just like I mentioned, if you want to use a texture, you'll have to map. Go to faces mode, select the els reverselight then with selected mode on, you go into vertices mode, and since it's a reverselight, in the "back" viewboard you right click (anywhere on the back viewboard) without any tools selected, then you click edit uv and start your mapping. Or if you want to use "vertex color", you go into faces mode, select the els reverselight (all polygons of it), go into vertices mode with selected mode enabled, then go to paint -> color and paint it the color you want for it.

It's aznairsoftdude (NavyMailMan on flickr) who said that he asked the officer. Also it's impossible that these went on patrol, since they don't have the CA standard steady burns. I think what he meant was 2012 chargers went on patrol, and they did with the arjent and without the rambars. (you can even see those nowadays in videos)

Unfortunately I don't know how much more stable it is then v7, because I didn't even use that. However I get like 1 crashes out of 200 games if I use the els menu (that's the only time when I crash because of ELS) with ELS v5, however with v8 I crash like 1 out of 20 games. My game can also crash randomly with ELS v8.

About the secondary lights I forgot to mention that it's the saved patterns that don't work. I got the pattern saved on 4, it always spawns with 0 instead. (using drct mode) As for the enviroment lights, I'll still try to test it out, but the main idea was to have almost no enviroment lighting at daytime, while have a really strong light effect at night like here: Also I think I'll keep updating the first post about the bugs, so if you have found anything let me know, and I'll update the first post.

ELS v8 bug list
I've decided to make a thread that'll list all the bugs we've found in ELS v8 so far, so it may make it easier for the devs to know what they should fix. This ain't no offical thread, but since I haven't found anything like this, I suggest everyone writing the bugs they found here. - Secondary light patterns cannot be saved - Warning lights' and secondary lights' enviroment lights don't take notice of the multipliers (at least I can always see their enviroment lights even at daytime while primary lights aren't visible) - Significantly more crashes in MP, then with the older ELS (els v5 mainly) - When you hit "fix car" extra5 and extra6 lights gets rendered (they turn on) - On some of the cars used by the AI, unused extras gets turned on with the primary lights (for example the secondary lights are still on, even though I disabled them to come on with the primary lights) - I can't seem to increase the night multiplier to a level I'd find suitable - I can't seem to increase the flash delay to a suitable level (lights still flash too fast at sp = 5, mp = 5) - Updating the document on how to make rotator lightbars (drota) - Insanely low fps in MP after some random time - When you have different patterns assigned to different siren modes, it seems when you jump back to wail or turn off the siren, the pattern gets set back to 00 - Adding the flash delay function to every vcf file (this may not be a bug, but it's impossible to recreate certain patterns by having an overall flash delay) - Using E-28 pattern in leds for primary lights has different intensity for certain extras. (extra1's and extra4's enviroment lights seem to be more intense then extra2's and extra3's)

Blue/Red Reverse Lights
If you want them to flash as in like the ELS lights, you need to make a copy of the reverselight mesh, move that a bit further away from the car (only so you won't have the z-fighting issue). After that you have two options: one is to map the lights to a blue texture just like trewq said, or you could go into vertices mode, select all polygons there, and use paint -> color to color the vertices blue. If you click on the color thing, you can choose your desired color in RGB. After you selected the color, hit "paint" button a few times (like 5-10 times) and you'll see how the mesh is turned a bit blue. After that if you have lightsemissive material assigned to the mesh, it'll be glowing in game. Rename that mesh to any of the extra mesh parts or attach them to an already existing one, and there you have your flashing reverse lights. I do believe you can change the reverselight itself (although I don't think any countries would allow a different colored reversing light color then blue) by using the same "paint -> color" method I explained above.

Fixing the door bug in older ELS
Well to be honest, I've just noticed yesterday, that the old A-07 pattern which is very similar to A-04 (aka E-03 in ELS v8), is not present in ELS v8. That's the pattern I was using for the CHP led lightbar cars, since it was slower then E-03. The problem with E-03 is that even though my ELS lights are slowed down to "number 5" (I even tried writing 10), the pattern is still way too fast. Also I couldn't seem to find the X-03 pattern which was used for my LAPD cars with the Arjent lightbar (extra2 and extra3 handled the arjent lightbar, and extra1 and extra4 handled the fast strobe effect of the indicator lights and taillights). Also even if I could slow down my ELS to number 7 or number 10, that'd mess up the current pattern of my other cars (being too slow). I guess I have OCD caring about such things, but yeah lol, it'd be nice to have those back. Also the problem is that no matter what and how many patterns you create in ELS, you can't recreate every single pattern there is irl. That's why every car modder should optimize their extras in zmod, in a way that you can recreate the correct pattern in game with ELS. (for example, if you want a rotating lightbar + a led lightbar at the same time, you use the E-01 (els v5) / E-26 (els v8) pattern where 1234 handles the rotating lights just like they normally would, and 12 handles 1 part of the leds, and 34 handles the other, or if you want strobe effect, 1 handles 1 strobe 2 handles another etc.) Also I noticed that I can only get a "rota" pattern that rotates clockwise, but not anticlockwise. The reason I mentioned this is because once again some of my cars should use an anticlockwise rotation.

No, they still use the extra system. And from what I understood of cp's post is that all the extras are on at all the time, however they are not rendered (they are not on visually). Correct me if I'm wrong. Also I posted something about the patterns, so it won't move your extra parts anywhere. They'll stay where you or the creator of the mod placed them in zmod. My problem was that extra8's management is completely random in the "leds" mode of the secondary lights. However as Cj mentioned, if you change to the "drct" mode, you'll be able to use all 3 (extra7, extra8 and extra9) synchronized.

Ah thanks also I forgot to mention that Cj's idea worked. [ SECL ] Type = drct DisableAtLstg3 = on ForcePatForLstg = on PatId_Lstg1 = 4 PatId_Lstg2 = 4 PatId_Lstg3 = 4 This is the setting I'm using to get the wanted pattern right, however I believe there's a bug with els v8, that it doesn't recognise forced patterns on secondary lightstage. If you look at my .ini you see it's forced, however in game it always spawns with C-00 (what I want is C-04). About the CHP Ford PIU, I mentioned in the comments of the picture, that I still have to make door sill (which I've never done before) and also make the windows breakable (something is wrong with the cols even though they have the proper id and also they are placed like they should have been). So release might be only in the summer.
