  1. 1) Rename all the files from "tahoe "to "sheriff2" and replace the vanilla ones inside "mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\patchday3ng\dlc.rpf\x64\levels\gta5\vehicles.rpf". 2) Open carvariations.meta (the file that came with the mod) and change "<modelName>tahoe</modelName>" to "<modelName>sheriff2</modelName>". Save it then use it to replace the vanilla carvariations inside "mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\mpluxe\dlc.rpf\common\data". That's it! @CollaboProductions Is it possible to replace the license plate texture? I couldn't find it in the ytd files. I assume it's not dynamic like the default ones since it didn't seem to change from one car to another.
  2. Awesome! Making these skins were top priority for me also.

Download the car mod from here: Both textures come in 4096x4096 and 2048x2048 resolution. Installation: Replace the "tahoe_skin" inside tahoe.ytd and tahoe+hi.ytd with a texture from my pack (use the Replace button). The car doesn't support multiple liveries so there's only one version for each department. Known bugs: - Small areas of white paint on both side mirrors and on the right front wing. Feel free to try and find out which pixels are responsible because I gave up after one hour and 5 game restarts.
  3. It would be harder to pit if this truck had more weight on its rear wheels. But as it is, the backweight is spread out between 4 wheels instead of 2 so each of those 4 wheels only has half the ground pressure of the model with 2 rear wheels. More tires without a lot of weight to press them against the ground won't add much friction. I might be wrong though.
  4. It would be a great replacement for the Sandking (XL). Am I correct assuming that this car would be easier to pit compared to a single rear wheel car? Because of the decreased ground pressure applied by the rear tires. EDIT: I just noticed this is for GTA IV not V. But it would be a great addition to V also.
  5. I can but I don't want to step on anyone's toes so to speak. I know there are a couple persons who already made really good LAPD skins, maybe you should ask them first if they want to do HD versions. If they don't plan on doing so, then I'll do them myself.
  6. Where were you one week ago when I went cross-eyed starring at that pixelated icon on the old gauge texture? :)) I somehow figured out it meant to say "On" but never figured out what was that sign above the letter n. I had no idea it was something from another car entirely, I've never been in a Crown Vic so please excuse my ignorance. Top right corner.

These textures were created for F5544's new CVPI with MX7000 lightbar, but they should work with any other car mod that uses F5544's [DEV] CVPI. To replace the sheriff cruiser, rename the car files from "police" to "sheriff" (keep the suffix +hi/_hi where it's needed) and use OpenIV to replace them inside "mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\patchday3ng\dlc.rpf\x64\levels\gta5\vehicles.rpf". Add the new textures inside "police.ytd" and/or "sheriff.ytd", depending on which ones you want to use. The pack contains: -4x 4096x4096 LSPD liveries -4x 4096x4096 LSSD liveries -4x 2048x2048 LSSD liveries (the 2048x2048 LSPD liveries are included in the CVPI MX7000 car mod) !!IMPORTANT!! 1)This probably only happens on low end graphics cards but if your game starts acting up (missing textures, cars not spawning) after installing the HD textures, you need to do this: Start OpenIV and enable Edit mode. Then open "police.ytd"/"sheriff.ytd", click on cvpi_sign_1/2/3/4 and click on Properties (top right corner), change Mipmap levels to 1. Do this for all 4 liveries. Your game should work just fine now. 2) If you are playing GTA5 on Normal texture settings and want to use the 2048x2048 LSSD textures, follow the steps above and make sure all 4 cvpi_sign files inside "sheriff.ytd" have "Mipmaps: 1". The texture will look the best this way.
  7. That's strange since I've been testing this vehicle for a while now and never noticed this problem. It was quite the other way around, one out of many backup cars didn't have the lightbar.
  8. Ok, I actually know about and had that taxi bug when I tried car packs years ago but since then I replaced my video card (which is still low end compared to the latest stuff) which seems to be able to run GTA IV a whole lot better than my old one. Maybe I'll try a random pack and see if the bug still appears.
  9. One final question. Do you use a car pack for the civilian vehicles or you've added them individually?
  10. Yeah, you were having so much fun with it I just couldn't resist. :)) Do you use ELS in your videos? I never really understood what it does and how to use it but I remember it had that door bug. Was it ever fixed? I didn't see it in your videos so that's why I'm asking.
  11. :) Browsing through the GTA IV downloads section I'm like a kid in a toy store, some many awesome things to choose from!
  12. Then we are in the same boat. I was prepared to tell you to make your textures 1600x1600 if you are using Normal textures because it will look the best, but today I made a big discovery. I've mentioned it before on this forum that 2048x2048 textures actually look worse on Normal textures than 1600x1600. That makes no sense theoretically and I couldn't find an explanation, but the proof was in front of my eyes. Well now I know why it's like that and how to avoid it (there might be a performance hit though). Watch this video and I'll explain why there's a difference between Livery #3 and #4 even though they are identical. Livery #3 has been added by using the replace button in OpenIV and it only has 1 Mipmap, Livery #4 has been added with a drag and drop action in the police.ytd window and OpenIV created 7 Mipmaps for it. But clearly ingame Livery #4 looks a lot worse than #3. I assume that's because on Normal textures, the game ignores Mipmap 1 which has the highest quality. So even if you are very close to the car, you'll only see Mipmap 2 or 3. (Mipmaps are smaller versions of a texture that are applied depending on how far away you are from the object). 1600x1600 textures looked better because OpenIV only creates 1 Mipmap regardless of the way you add it so it will look better than a 2048x2048 texture with 7 Mipmaps but worse than a 2048x2048px with 1 Mipmap. I haven't done any testing yet to see if there is a performance drop but for now I'm going with 2048px with 1 Mipmap. As for 4096x4096 textures, they look the best even on Normal settings but the game acts strange when I use them. I can use a 4096px textures with 1 Mipmap but if I let OpenIV create 8 Mipmaps for the texture, the game won't spawn the car that uses them and I'll get missing textures all around the world. But 4096px are very demanding especially if you use them on patrol cars that spawn as backups, it's not really worth it unless you have a really good graphics card.
  13. I guess that's why we're playing cops instead of being cops. Not meant to insult anybody.
  14. Thanks guys! @Prophet, Since you took the time to reply, I'll make a confession. It was your videos which made me reinstall GTA IV and LCPDFR. I watch 5 other youtubers playing LSPDFR but none of them cover LCPDFR currently. :)
  15. I haven't played LCPDFR in about 3 years but after watching a few youtubers play it I decided to install it again. My question is not how to install LCPDFR safely, but how to install properly all the other 3rd party models, textures, sound etc that go with it. If I remember correctly you can't create a "mods" folder for GTA IV so you have to replace the original files and make back-ups. Should I use OpenIV or another program? Are there any mods that I should avoid while playing LCPDFR? Is there anything I need to know about modding GTA IV to avoid breaking my game? Thanks for any help!
  16. I agree, pen tool to get the shape and gradient tool to get that color change. Something like this: rock_county.psd You can select the pen path by holding Ctrl and clicking on it.
  17. Wow that's really cool! I once made a traffic stop on a (off duty) police officer and I let him go. But he didn't flash the badge like in your video or said anything, I only found that out after running his name.
  18. The only way is to make the overall skin bigger, like 4096x4096 for example. At this size most logos will be big enough to keep all the details. Do you play the game with Normal texture setting or High and above? I don't want to bore you with poor people problems if I don't have to. :)
  19. I'm not familiar with GIMP but in Ps I don't change anything beside choosing DXT5. I also let it generate mipmaps even though OpenIV does it also.
  20. So I'm not alone. I've been struggling with this problem for days now. It just looks like OpenIV doesn't like certain colors palettes like dark grey or dark blue. I have moderate success by saving the image as a dds file instead of png. You can install a DDS plugin for Photoshop, then save it as dds and choose from the menu that pops up "DXT-5" as the file format. The image seems to lose less quality by saving it like that. It's a major pain in the ass though.
  21. I should drink some coffee before further reading the forum. I honestly thought to were saying the car model in both pictures look similar. :)) Only American police cars allowed? These two also look similar. British version And then this one where they didn't buy enough stickers and misspelled "POLICE". (aka the Swedish version)
  22. This might sound like a dumb question but what exactly is behind those hubcaps? Isn't it a steel rim with the chrome center cap removed so they could install the hubcap? Or the steel rims which were used before and left visible where of a special (more expensive) kind?
  23. I loved physical education even though I was never good at any sport and damn we played a lot of sports (football, basketball, handball, volleyball, ping-pong plus a lot of made up games with any round object) in a high school focused on math and computer science. I liked the most doing actual physical exercises like gymnastics, sprint contests, long distance running and bodyweight exercises. On the other hand girls in my school avoided P.E. like the plague, many of them would just sit on the side waiting for the hour to pass and a few smart ones got a notice from the doctor saying they can't do P.E. for some bs reason and never had to freeze their ass off outside at 8AM during winter. The school got wind of this practice though and made them do all sorts of boring chores during PE class so I'm not sure who was luckier in the end.
