  1. You may use a controller to play the game on .95 but you still need to use the keyboard to arrest suspects, initiate traffic stops, etc. There may be third party software that can map key presses to a controller but someone else will have to answer that, I don't use controllers. You can buy GTA IV and play only lcpdfr, but you do need to complete the first mission as a regular player (without the mod installed) to avoid issues. After that, you can use the mod normally without ever having to play a GTA mission. You can use Simple Native Trainer to unlock access to all islands so you can roam as you please. Be advised, you can not save the game (and you can't allow an autosave) while you are on duty. You must go off-duty and then you can save your progress. EDIT: If you mean play regular GTA missions as an officer, you can't do that as far as I am aware. Some cutscenes will crash (personal experience....)
  2. Wasn't aware of that, I haven't seen the zmodeler site for months. My bad.
  3. You probably meant to say 3D modeling software (such as Zmodeler). Zmodeler is what many modders use now to edit and convert cars for GTA IV, but as Tom said it takes a long time to learn your way around it. There are plenty of tutorials online if you're really interested in it. I believe Zmodeler even has tutorials on their site.

I realize he's banned but I just wanted to make a comment about this for everyone to see. The testers do not keep everything to themselves. I can only speak in terms of testers, since that's all I'm familiar with, but if the community asks a question about something that might be upcoming, no one has ever said "I refuse to tell you what new features are coming up because I want to keep everything to myself." No. Testers always push out youtube videos from the nightly builds. We don't keep everything a secret. Just look at NicolaiB's youtube channel, or look at Unr3al when he was previewing the very first beta builds of 0.95. To tie this in with the thread, you asked, and an answer was given. We're not hiding the fact that there is no MP support yet.
  5. There should be one on gtapolicemods.com I believe. Or is that what you meant by gta4police?
  6. Iconography replied to a post in a topic in GTA IV & LCPDFR Support
There's not really much we can do. When I use the nightly builds I get shoot outs but never shots fired so it's the opposite there. I never get drug deals either now that I think of it. You can try editing the INI file to increase the frequency of callouts (decrease the multiplier [yes, counter-intuitive] and decrease max/min times). Besides that, I don't think there's anything that can be done, yet. I'd say to wait until a later release. This may have been brought up before, I can't remember exactly. I've been away for a while.
  7. Well, that's a name I haven't seen in a very long time indeed. Welcome back!
  8. I almost facepalmed. Then a realized I'd have an excuse to arrest or citation people. Downloading! Thanks for posting about it, Tom.
  9. This mod here will replace your minimap with a Google Maps version, with street names built in: http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=9129 If you are looking for names to show up on screen, I'm not sure about those. SNT or ELS may or may not have the ability to show street names, but I know they can show districts.
  10. Only using xlive.dll will enable savegames to be placed in the documents folder. If you use dsound, you must stop using it and switch to xlive.
  11. Are you using left alt + P, rather than the right alt key? Only the left one works.
  12. As far as I am aware, no it is not possible.
  13. There should be an option somewhere in settings. It might be classified as a heads up display (HUD). It isn't quite as good as the display from ELS but it might suffice. You can try using only non-ELS cars as well as turning ELS off in the ini file for AI police, if you don't like the display from SNT.
  14. If SOPA or PIPA pass, the internet will become a hollow shell. No purpose. It's spark will have been extinguished. 5 years of jail time for singing a song and uploading it somewhere? Come on. That is RIDICULOUS. Making any type of video that even HINTS at copyrighted material -or how to obtain it- illegal? Completely foolhardy. I am SICK and TIRED of these pitiful "anti-piracy" bills that do absolutely NOTHING to stop piracy. They make things WORSE. They always have. They always will. Email and social networking, from what I hear, will be censored and any "questionable" links will be deleted (or your whole email). If a link slips through, the networking site or email provider can be fined, sued, or taken down entirely. I am signing every damn petition I can find. I am disgusted.
  15. The more vehicles are in game with ELS enabled, the higher the chance of a crash. That's why it isn't recommended to be used on the "main" police vehicles. @Mr Snapp If all you want are street names, SNT has an option to show you a street name on the bottom.
  16. At this point in time no it is not possible.
  17. If you use Traffic Flow V5 R2, increase the chance of random dispatch line to 100 (that's the max). If you don't use any mods like that, then...... find a way to have less people die on the streets? That's all I can say. GTA will sometimes spawn one whenever someone gets hurt.
  18. Iconography commented on username100's gallery image in GTA IV Galleries
  19. There isn't a way to fix them, except for #2 (see above; ninja'd). You'll have to wait for them to be fixed. Remember, this is not a stable release. There are still things to be fixed. The issues you are having are with things that were just implemented not too long ago. Car searches worked (almost) perfectly with me while testing but sometimes I would have to walk away and come back. Modded cars might cause a problem, hard to say. I only used stock ones.
  20. The site lag... It's over 9000! And over 50 RC2 downloads in a minute or two of release...
