SCS Software is quickly becoming one of my favorite game developers. Euro Truck Simulator 2 was released 2 years ago, and they still regularly update it and add new features. As a matter of fact, they just released an update a couple days ago adding a 64-bit version of the game to Steam, as well as improving the look of the truck dealerships.
They also introduced the DAF XF Euro 6 not too long ago for free stating, "Even if trucks are eating considerable amount of company human and financial resources, we still resist the temptation to ask for money for the upcoming Euro Truck Simulator 2 standard truck models and will continue bringing them to you free of charge in future updates of the game. We feel that it's fair to ask for support from time to time with additional optional elements for the game, but the core experience is improved for everybody." That gives me a tremendous amount of respect for them. SCS will also be introducing a lighting and weather system overhaul in the near future...also for free.
I am absolutely ecstatic for American Truck Simulator and you bet your ass I will be buying it at release. Here is their development blog where you can find screenshots of ATS.

For those of you that enjoy Euro Truck Simulator 2, here's a few videos that show the behind the scenes aspects of its development, including previews of the upcoming Scandinavian DLC, American Truck Simulator, and a small look at Coach Simulator.
Bonus ATS gameplay!

daybeers reacted to LukeD in GTA V: Hard Copy or Digital Version? This is a difficult question, I'll try and make it simple for you:
Hard copy:
+ Got a relic to put on your shelf of games (I enjoy seeing a wall of games rather than a list on steam)
+ If you lose the internet or lose your digital account or whatever, you can easily reinstall as you have the disk
+ Paper copy of the map to put on your wall because why the fuck not
+ New disk smell
+ the joy of ripping open the stupid security sticker and hearing that oh so satisfying "click" of the case opening, as you launch plastic wrapping everywhere
- Disk can be scratched = fucked
- Disk/serial can be lost = fucked
- Reinstalling takes FOREVER
Steam/Digital copy:
+ Always got it if you move PC
+ Can easily unfuck the game (steam verify cache etc)
+ No disks or shit to mess around with
+ Linked to your account so you can install it elsewhere
+ Steam overlay...let's be honest it's quite handy at times (*other brands may not be as handy, see your own personal opinion on digital games launchers for more details)
- Install the game? Nope gotta wait 13,124 hours to download the game, only to find out when it hits 99% that the download failed due to a really slight interruption in your internet. Have to repeat
- No sense of joy when you own the game, just pure frustration waiting for the download, then the install, then the client to say "oops no, 100 patches first lol"
- Lose all sense of excitement when you go to the shop/it gets delivered in the post because your already bored waiting for it to download.
- No refunds or ability to sell it on
Hope this helps :)

daybeers reacted to CouthInk4 in Do you use a steering wheel?I use my steering wheel for one game and one game only... That's Euro Truck Simulator 2, yes i spent $350 on a Logitech G27 Racing wheel JUST for ETS2.
For GTA, i use my controller since it's a lot easier than using a steering wheel or mouse and keyboard.

daybeers reacted to gangrenn in FireFighter mod by gangrennHey
You might know it, or not, but I've been working on a Firefighter mod for the last 2 months. The mod is almost done, although there is no release date at this time.
There are currently, 5 different type of callouts:
Medical run: This callout actually have 4 different "sub" callouts (taking place at different type of places); M.V.A Vehicle Fire; Automatic Fire Alarm; a super secret callout never made for GTA; Another super secret callout also never made for GTA.
EDIT: MOD IS NOW AVAILABLE:
Here are a few videos I made to present some of the features introduced with the Firefighter mod:
Stretcher control:
and one of the most exclusive feature never made for GTA: The ladder control feature:
A realistic Dispatch system:
Firefighting equipments:
More pictures here: http://www.lcpdfr.com/gallery/member/2101-gangrenn/
More features / things have already been done, but I prefer not to give all the details now, and let you find out some of the untold features the day of the release.

Let's all be realistic here guys (assuming of course, you did give them $15 million:
Sam would attempt to buy out Apple, rage when they laughed at him and said no, buy a new madbook and then sit in the teamspeak saying "how dare Apple besmirch my good name".
LMS would probably put the money into something useful (and buy more hats).
would buy more kebabs.
Sniper296 would finally upgrade his internet to virgin Media.
I'm so dead for this...

Yes, it does matter. Buying a shitty power supply could result in your expensive gear being blown up in a power surge if the components inside aren't good. Trust me, I'm talking from experience here.
You've come here asking for advice, yet seem to be complaining that I'm asking for specifics. I want to be sure that I give you a good answer but can't do that without specifics.

daybeers reacted to ineseri in Supporting the CommunityHey, ineseri here or as some people know by now: Martin. I still prefer ineseri when adressed on the fora, but for this topic I felt a real name is more suitable, I try to keep myself active on the forum, helping out where I can in the support forum. Most of you probably know me already. I started out here in late 2010, October to be more exact.
Anyway, on to the topic:
This community is truly one of the greatest communities out there on the vast interwebs. I stumbled across this mod by accident actually, when just browsing the internet, looking at youtube videos. Then I saw a PCGamer article about it and I was convinced this was a good place to “settle down”.
As most of you people know, LCPDFR v 1.0 was just recently released to the public and most people are enjoying it to its fullest. I am aware there are some issues with the mod, but I think we all can agree that what the team has done is nothing short of a miracle and that fixes will be issued as soon as possible. What started as a “small” idea by Sam, has now evolved into something really big with the help of and it has grown into the internet phenomena that is LCPDFR.
What they, especially LMS (and I think Lil-rich is worth a mentioning), have done with GTA modding and the ScriptHook is fantastic. I am constantly amazed by how they manage to overcome technical obstacles, especially when we all know that the GTA IV PC port is really, really, really poorly made. Sniper296, you are also developing LCPDFR but your area of expertise is probably the website. While I know that you like to mess around with some threads *cough* *cough*, I am also aware of that you know your codes. You are after all a developer. Sort of.
Also, lets not forget the hard work put into the website, development of LCPDFR and the community in general by the entire Community Team, lead by NicolaiB who may, or may not be secretly British. Thank you!
Honorable mentions to the Testing Team, for without them, we’d have a mess on our hands. Thank you!
So, ineseri, what’s the point of this thread? Let me tell you: You know what all the people above have in common? A passion for GTA modding, GTA policing and last but not least: A passion for the Community as a whole. What most people don’t know, or just do not acknowledge, is that running a community of this size is a fulltime job and a costly one at that. The team provide these various services (TeamSpeak, Forum, Gallery, Downloads, etc) for absolutely no fee at all. It’s free. And on top of all that, the team faces costs for bandwith and other network related costs. You don’t have to pay anything to receive full access to the community. How great is that? Pretty great I’d say.
Some people might be aware of that there is a donation button up to the far right in the navigation menu, others may not have known about it until now.
I have recently made a donation to the site, the amount is not important and it will not be posted here (if you really want to know, PM me).
If all members on this site donated 1 dollar, the team would have about 109015 dollars to spend on the community.
Now, I know that such an amount is next to impossible to amount since some accounts are inactive and so on, but it is still possible to raise a pretty sizeable sum. I am not asking you to donate. You can just simply ignore this topic, no one will think less of you. That is completely fine. Maybe you can’t afford it, that’s fine too. Just take some time and think about it, appreciate the hard work by the team. Take a few seconds and say “Thanks”. That is all.
A happy new year to everyone. I hope this new year will bring you much joy and fun, learning experiences. Thanks to everyone who is part of LCPDFR.
