How do I delete a review or comment?

Featured Replies

I don't believe you can. You can however report the comment and ask for deletion, that's what I do and have been instructed to do in the past. Maybe a moderator can offer a better option.

This. We do not delete any content just like that, however. A report can be submitted and we can review the content reported.

That is too bad i feel that as content creators we should be able to delete other peoples comments on our post for the mere fact that some people tend to be bullies and none of us should tolerate that kind of behavior. We should not have to submit a request for someone else to view it and make a decision to either delete or allow another persons comment, because what one person thinks is okay others may not.

Allowing content creators that kind of control will result in abuse and censorship.  There have been many, many mod makers who have complained and requested a legitimate review or comment be removed for the simple fact that they didn't like it, or didn't like that it wasn't a 5 star review.  In certain situations where someone is being toxic and/or a bully, I completely understand your frustration, however that is what moderators are for - that is why every post, every review, every comment etc has a "report" button.  If it is inappropriate, specifically if it involves bullying or harassment, it will 100% be dealt with by staff.

would people be interested in being able to disable comment/reviews on their files?

It would lead to abuse, I feel. A simple(r) way to flag for deletion, similar to the report button but a different button altogether, would probably be a better option.

Alternatively, you could make it to where creators could "hide" specific comments which would start out collapsed akin to a spoiler tag, but J. Random Person could click on the "hidden" comment to see the comment. That'd be a bit more transparent, I feel.

In what scenario could disabling reviews/comments on your file be used for abuse?

It would disable legitimate criticism and leave players unable to use comments for reporting issues and oddities to the creator/other players, for one.

Taking that statement and turning it around into a dramatization: if the ability to flat-out disable comments were created and implemented, I could easily use that as a shield against criticisms ("Please credit such-and-such for the lightbar" "NO NEVER YOU CAN'T MAKE ME") or to try to escape consequences ("Hey, you used my lightbar, please credit me, dude" "NO NEVER YOU CAN'T MAKE ME").

While yes, these scenarios are extreme, they're rife in another community that I'm part of and is almost as vitriolic as the dev community here was in '14. Is that scenario still possible today? Yeah. Is it likely? My jury's still out on that one.

People should already be sending a private message to the author about that, or sending a report to our team.

Some creators just don't want criticism -- legitimate or other, indeed we've had people leave LCPDFR.com entirely for this reason and then blame us when the points stated were valid.

My idea is a button for creators to turn off comments/reviews on a certain file. It wouldn't be a recommended thing at all, and it would carry negative penalties (your file would be excluded from trending or featured) but there are definitely some people who don't contribute that I think would if they had this option, especially those that are rather sensitive starting out.

It would be in line with what other large platforms do. I can imagine it can be quite intimidating to release a file to LCPDFR.com as it stands today.

In addition to being excluded from featured or trending, how about disabling 'likes' for that file? I'm not sure if it's possible to disable likes on individual files, though.

But that's not abuse, and any decent mod creator would not disable them for that reason without providing an alternative way to report such issues.

Okay, sure, but that's not abuse in any shape or form. It's simply going to prevent the mod author from improving, meaning their mods won't be any good and won't get any downloads.

Which shouldn't be done in comments anyway, this should be reported or the author should be contacted via PM. In fact, by using the comments, you'd just be encouraging the dramatization you were worried about previously...

In fact, I can actually see the ability to disable comments being a good idea, as user's could have a single thread for bug reports/feedback, where they can contain everything for all of their mods, allowing them to ensure they see everything they need to as opposed to having to maintain loads of different comment sections accross multiple mods. I still don't see any negatives of disabling comment sections.
