ParksFan,

You have an awesome mod so far, but you should try to incorporate a faster time for the services to respond like if EMT's or Fire don't arrive at least a fast moving supervisor's vehicle can reach pretty quickly on scene.

I think you should also incorporate the medical heilicopter to arrive on scene well at least in areas that are clear of hydro lines and other buildings depending on the severity of the ped or peds injuries.

Another idea is if you can incorporate some sort of custom part to the mod that when a police officer or a suspect requires medical transportation to the hospital that a police car should escort them as it would in real life.

I like the idea of helicopters but i can see them glitching out so much when they land like it would be pretty hard for it to land with the AI in GTA as we know it :D

Quick update: still working on this mod, it's gradually coming together. Most recently have been working on the AI to coordinate keeping track of all the injured peds and the responders treating them.

The response time is real: the units actually spawn at the nearest hospital or fire station, and drive to the scene from there. You can press a key to warp them closer if you don't want to wait. Eventually there'll be an INI option to set the speed of the response vehicles, but you'll always be limited by how far away they are.

I may eventually add a helicopter function, but am not developing it at this time. Very tricky to get the helicopter AI to work well. I recommend using Wilderness Callouts if you'd like an air ambulance option; it has that functionality built in.

I may consider adding a police escort option. It's been suggested by others. We'll see what happens.

Also ParksFan, what about stretchers I know gangren had that for his RescueIV mod for GTA IV so I don't know if it's possible for GTA 5 as some injuries that peds, officers, suspects receive could be too serious that they cannot walk on their own but it would be a really awesome option.  Agreed the heilicopter AI ingame isn't the greatest the wilderness callouts has it but ya it doesn't always work the best.  The response times work fine and yes I've used the quick warp option as well.  Is it also possible to prevent the paramedics from running away if ever attacked by peds or suspects?? Cause they continue to run away..

So far so good, keep it up man.

If you have the latest beta installed, they shouldn't run away any more. I made a change in beta 2 which should block them from being scared by gunfire, etc.

I've looked into doing stretchers. Problem is there's no good prop for it. There's a hospital bed prop but that's very large. Eventually if it's possible to install new props I might look into doing a stretcher if a 3D modeler wants to help out with that, but as far as I know that isn't possible right now.

There is v_med_emptybed.ydr, its slightly smaller as it does not have a mattress on it. Gives it more of the gurney look.

Located here:
D:\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto V\x64h.rpf\levels\gta5\interiors\int_props\int_medical.rpf\v_med_emptybed.ydr

Cant seem to find anything else, which surprises me. I believe GTAIV had modeled gurneys in their hospitals.

Got some progress done today:

  • Minor tweaks to animations, hopefully reduces instances of peds occasionally flying off into the distance or at least brings them back if they do
  • Removed a bunch of debugging notification popups (you'll still see them in the RPH log though)
  • Finally added a configuration file! Now you'll be able to set all the keybindings, vehicle speeds, etc.
  • Firetruck and ambulance now leave their lights on until they get about 30m away from the scene, so their lights stay on while they're turning around in traffic
  • Incident report now shows which peds are/were officers
  • Experimented with putting a sheet over dead bodies. It didn't really work out... no good props for it and all the props that are available are rigid

Expect beta 3 to be available sometime later this week!

Today's big progress: Integration with Custom Backup! If you have both Better EMS installed and Custom Backup installed, then when you call an ambulance from the custom backup menu it'll dispatch them through Better EMS. Continuing animation tweaks as well. Planning to push out the next beta update tomorrow evening! The beta download will include an updated version of the Custom Backups DLL and INI files required for integration.

Beta 3 is released! If you're participating in the beta, you should have received a link to the new download. The original download link has been deactivated now. If you signed up to participate in the beta but have yet to provide any feedback, you've received a message asking about your continued participation in the beta test.

Major changes since beta 2 include:

  • Integration with Custom Backup! Now you can call EMS using the Ambulance entry in the Custom Backup menu and you'll get a response from Better EMS. The updated files for the Custom Backup mod are included in the beta download, but you'll need to already have Custom Backup installed (including the XML file). Just overwrite the DLL and INI file with the ones provided with this beta.
  • Fixed response cancel button so it won't crash LSPDFR, and cleans up more... cleanly
  • INI configuration file now available! Configure all the things! Response speed, distance parameters, keybindings, etc. This doesn't replace the XML file; you still have to use the XML file to specify response units.
  • Much better animations! There's still a few little things here and there, but overall the animations are much smoother.
  • Lots of bugs fixed!

Please send feedback! Videos, screenshots, log files, etc are all welcome. Also if any of you do the whole YouTube thing, let me know...

Hey, sorry I didn't get a post in before this release!  Bug fixes sound great and I'll let you know how it goes.

From last time my suggestions were going to be that there be a more permanent way to see incident reports, as mentioned in that PM.  A close-able window or something.  I'd also love to see further attempts to make EMS more realistic, perhaps with that gurney Requies found on the last page.  But I understand that you're limited to the props and animations built into the game.  I wonder if there's a backboard prop somewhere in the lifeguard-related stuff.

Another cool thing would be the ability to mark a spot for the fire truck and ambulance to stage (park) before they arrive.  One of the main roles of a police officer on a secured scene is directing traffic, and it would be very useful to get them to park in a specific spot, either to protect the scene from oncoming traffic, or to keep them out of the middle of the road.  I'm thinking something along the lines as what Albo uses for Traffic Policer's Custom Pullover Location.

Other than that the mod is amazing, keep up the great work!

In the extras folder for the beta 3 in the custom dispatch audio/EMSAUDIO/VEHICLES "VEHICLE_BRUSH_TRUCK" appears but in the "GTA V FOLDER/lspdfr/Police Scanner/EMSAUDIO/VEHICLE" VEHICLE_BRUSH_TRUCK doesn't appear

Those are extra audio files you can use if you want. Note the documentation in the readme about setting your own audio clips for different units in your XML file.

First of all, apologies to everybody affected by the issue with controller bindings. Unfortunately I made a mistake which resulted in the INI file not actually being read in, so the hard-coded defaults are always used. This applies to all settings in the INI file. This is fixed in the next beta release (not yet available).

Second, I've made massive improvements to the animations. The ped still pops up very briefly when the medics first arrive on scene, but it's for only a split second now. The peds shouldn't be standing up or flying around any more. I'm still making some tweaks, but these changes will be included in the next beta release.

Thanks to all who have been helping with the beta testing! We're making good progress, and I'm excited to finish polishing the mod until it's ready for a general release.

Beta 4 is now available! The same download link as Beta 3 will take you to the new Beta 4, so if you have that link just go ahead and download the new version.

Lots of significant fixes and improvements in this version, with big thanks to everybody who helped report the various bugs and issues now resolved:

  • The INI file will actually work... hehe.
  • Animations are 1000% better. No more peds flying up in the air, and when the peds get set to alive in order to apply the CPR animations, they'll only insta-pop up for a split second - you can hardly see it. Overall the animations should actually look fairly smooth and natural now.
  • Internal improvements to the integration with Custom Backup, so if you're using Custom Backup you'll need to copy over the new DLL provided in the extras folder of the beta download.
  • Fixed a bug where canceling the EMS response would result in patient peds being frozen, invincible, and alive but in a death-like animation. Now when you cancel the EMS call peds will be cleaned up correctly.
  • Fixed a bug where if the 2nd unit to arrive on scene got stuck in traffic, its driver would stand up inside the vehicle and not actually be "in" the driver's seat if the first unit finished treating all patients before the 2nd unit arrived.
  • Various small bug fixes and many internal improvements.

We are getting pretty close to a public release! At this time I'm not in need of any additional beta testers, but for those of you already helping with the beta testing please do continue to provide feedback on the new version. Also, if anybody who makes LSPDFR YouTube videos is interested in doing a feature of this mod in their video, please PM me for details.
