Holy shit, do people not understand that a criminal justice system cannot place such a high value on human life and at the same time be so keen to take it? The two ideals are not compatible (I'm looking at you, states with the death penalty). If you still think 'an eye for an eye' is considered just or is effective at all, please tell me how life is in the dark ages where you obviously must live.

Just because the guy shot and killed others doesn't mean the next time he gets seen he should be shot on sight. We have justice system procedure, human rights doctrines and use of force regulations to consider.

Following that logic, you should be killed for demanding him being killed and it would be justified.

My God. My fking God. You bunch of idiots are fking arguing like this about some God-awful tragedy? You all should be ashamed of yourselves. I'm seriously starting to think that there is something wrong with all of you.

Could we put the flaming to a halt now, and discuss reasonably about how the police would deal with a killer? When the police chief and the department members were being shot at, they would have just cause to lethally shoot the criminal. If they had raided his basement, and he was pointing his gun at them, that would also be just cause to shoot the killer. If he had surrendered, though, they would need to put him through a fair trial. Obviously, he didn't want that, or he had mental issues, so he killed himself. I enjoy reading threads like these, but usually do not partake in them, but it makes me cringe when I see flame wars on here, since I know that LCPDFR's community is better than that.

I couldn't agree more, this is starting to really get on my nerves, this community is SO much more mature than this, can we really not have a simple discussion without some one getting pissed off at some ones statements? Really? It's time to grow up now, we've received a large influx of new people here on the forums, put simply, we will not tolerate pissy attitudes/flame wars starting just because some one feels the need to "Get something off their chest", follow the golden rule here, if you have nothing nice to say, don't say it, I'm starting to get sick and tired of seeing good topics get closed because immature kids think its "Fun" to rag on some ones opinion, everyone, this is a loud and clear statement for not only this thread, the random section, or any other specifics on this site, this goes for the entire member base who like to cause trouble, knock it off...

Please note, I'm all for debate/discussion, but when users start insulting each other, that's a big no no...

I don't see how anyone is really flaming each other rather than debating the issues. Police deployment of lethal force is a huge issue in that it involves the officers essentially playing judge, jury and executioner all in one action. It is only a legitimate cause of action in the direct protection of other human lives. Just because an offender/accused/suspect has been involved in a firefight with police or others at one point does not mean that at any point later it is still legitimate to to abandon the pursuit of an arrest in favour of lethal force.

Please feel free to read sections of this document; http://www.thecommon.../CPTMlowres.pdf

Although the United States aren't part of the commonwealth, the notions in the document with regard to policing and human rights are essentially and ideally universal.

I tend to agree here. And furthermore I tend to disagree with Gnat,Supper and JAM.

Yeah well I for one think that the level of arguing that is taking place in multiple threads are getting a bit ridiculous. If you can't see that, then I'm sorry, but there's a problem...

My post wasn't only pointed at this thread, it was in reply and agreements to suppers statement, as well as pointed towards the generalized member base, we have seen recent growth in users flaming each other, which is never a fun situation to defuse, also, flaming can be looked at as many forms, it doesn't take people to start "arguing" to make it a flame war, generalized back and fourth arguments and attempts to prove other peoples faults also count, also, when people making very large and bold statements to generate a proper response (%90 of the time their just stating their opinion, but some times its a bit outrageous what some people say) is also insigating it, I'm not pointing at people but when a group of people come in and state large statments like "Kill him!" or "Blow up the entire country!" its bound to generate some spontanious and mad responses, also take note you don't see every flame war that goes on because some of them get handled way before they can be viewed for public view.

Officer Maloney's funeral was held today. It jammed the usually quiet streets up for miles. All up and down the road that the shooting happened on, there are American flags and yellow ribbons on and in between every driveway for a few miles up until the border of the next town over. I drove past the crime scene, not much to see there now, just some orange tape blocking off both driveway entrances and a larger than usual stockpile of American flag decorations. There was also some sort of large sign popping over the fence in the back yard, but I couldn't slow down to read it because some D-bag behind me was tailing me in my SUV and I didn't want him to hit me. Here are a few pictures from the funeral.

An officer from Manchester who was recently shot 5 times attended the funeral as well.

Mike Maloney's cruiser, on the football field that he played on as a child, and coached a team on as an adult.

Police officers and townspeople from all accross New England showed up to seat those chairs, which were shaped as two 'M's, for 'Mike Maloney'. The service was held at the highschool he attended as a young man. There are over 3,000 people who attended the funeral service.

Rest in peace Chief, my thoughts are with the various N.H. police departments who participated in that tragic battle.
