At-least I miss out on math class (yes!).

You say that now, but what about when your exams come?

Why do I have a feeling I saw that shit before?  huh.

Personally, school up-until 10th was a breeze. I never studied an hour in my years & still got the average 70-80% marks in final exams (which again, I didn't even touch the book for). I attribute my marks to the full attention I paid to my teachers while in class. It's a broken, OP (Over-Powered) formula, I guess :3

Right now I'm in 12th, & it does get harder.....well, more to study (I'm looking at you, Business Studies).

I do agree that school is very very important for all fields.  However, I will say that in some fields, like Computers (which I'm aiming for), aren't really taught all that good/completely at schools/universities. Those fields require heavy investment on your part; studying yourself, attending separate coaching programs, etc.

If my post made you laugh (or giggle) in any way, smash that blue grey "Like this" button & like it

    Uh...

  • Don't go to school, therefore, don't go to university, therefore, don't get a decent job, therefore spend the rest of your life scooping up shit, therefore, die wishing you went to school.

I go to school to check out the Ladies!

If the OP believes that you shouldn't go to school because they don't teach you things that you should learn for yourself, there is seriously an issue with our society. (Well, there already is because the person in the video believes that, but, he looks like that kid in school who doesn't pay attention and gets in trouble all the time. So they probably taught half the things he mentioned, but he didn't listen.) You're not going to be taught everything, there are times where you have to learn for yourself.

This is sad because its true. I even asked my teacher what this is going to prepare me for in life, and she sent me to the office. The school system, (atleast in the USA), is fucked...

I'm working in retail, so that may be why. I'm not great with people so retail was a stupid choice, but work experience positions are somewhat hard to come by. At-least I miss out on math class (yes!).

Shit, yeah, that'll do it. I'd go nuts working retail as well.

I don't understand this culture about "not going to school". If you want to learn about the financial system, or how to invest stocks, then get a degree in it! Of course to understand basic things like interest, or balancing a budget, you'll need your maths.

The only people who say that their education was useless, were the people who didn't care about their education. You're right, my teaching didn't give me practical things - that's what my parents are there for. Learning how to write a check, or how to cook a meal is something that I was taught by my parents. School taught me to think critically.

Take calculus for example. You might think its the most useless course in the world - and for some people it is. But it's applications are endless. Machine learning, artificial intelligence, is all based on advanced calculus. Many physics principles are based on elementary calc - the principles and equations that we use to create planes, and highways, and railways! Multi-variable calculus, 3D geometry and vector, discrete mathematics, algorithm efficiency, all of these things are based off of maths and all these things are CRITICAL for building a game like GTA.

Now, I'm a computer science guy so I talk about the reasoning behind maths, but this stuff extends so far beyond just that.

Sidenote: Most of the stuff that he complained about not being taught, I was taught. In Ontario, Canada for example, Careers & Civics is a mandatory course where you learn all about how to get a job and the government.

tl;dr: Most of the "useless" crap you learn in things like maths courses are REALLLLY useful when you grow up, especially in things like physics and computer science. YOU NEED CALCULUS!

Schooling is literally the only reason I'm where I am right now.  I'm holding a 3.9 GPA in an IT major, and that is the only reason I have my (well paying) internship.  Trying to be taken seriously in any IT field without a college/university education is borderline impossible in this competitive sector.  I would take work over school any day because of how much I enjoy working, as well.

There are, admittedly, some areas of work where you can do very well for yourself without a formal education.  Those areas are very rare and incredibly specialised however, and I would never recommend blowing your education on shots in the dark.

I fail to see if that's a joke or anything of that kind.

But if that's not a joke. Holy moly, this is pathetic. Anything or anyone that/who tells you not to stay in school is pure bullshit. School is the most important thing in our society. It teaches the most basic stuff alongside parenting. Don't go to school, and you'll get nowhere in life.

Did you even watch the whole video? He's not literally telling you to drop out or dont go to school. Hes telling you that the syllabus in how people get taught is pointless. If you watched it to the end, he says you should be introduced to certain topics, then have the right to CHOSE if you want to continue learning it, that way it will apply to the small amount of people who want to use that knowledge for future occupations. For everyone thinking hes telling you to drop out, please stop being so ignorant. He's even mentioned this in his other videos relating to the song. There is so many people taking it the wrong way on here, I just cant believe the lack of comprehensive ability in the community.

   Ignorance is bliss my friend

(Well, there already is because the person in the video believes that, but, he looks like that kid in school who doesn't pay attention and gets in trouble all the time. So they probably taught half the things he mentioned, but he didn't listen.)

He has 12 GCSEs, 3 A levels in Math, Physics, And computing, as well as a university degree. Stop being so ignorant, like I said, hes not literally telling you to drop out.

Here's the thing: School is not meant to prepare you for a career. This is not its function. If you think it is the function of school, you have been seriously misled. The point of school is to give you an education. It is to teach you a broad range of things. Most of this will be completely useless for strictly doing your job. That's OK; while not relevant for your job, it's still relevant for the purpose of being a moderately rounded human being.

I know I'm late, but he's not telling kids to drop out. He's saying the education system needs to change. He said in a video that he thought people wouldn't be discussing a super important thing like that if he titled the video "The education system is flawed"
