GTA V: Hard Copy or Digital Version?

Featured Replies

Same here. I know a lot of people who have just sold GTA V after they finish the campaign, which I think is just a waste. There's so much more to games than just the campaign. I never sell my games - I love the feeling and nostalgia of playing a game I haven't played in 2 years.

I still play GTA VC and SA on PS2.

Also play N64 and old PC games.

  • This is a difficult question, I'll try and make it simple for you:   Hard copy: + Got a relic to put on your shelf of games (I enjoy seeing a wall of games rather than a list on steam) + If you lo

  • Steam, you will have it forever, automatic updates, you cant "lose" the disk, the list goes on and on. i find no reason whatsoever to use a hard copy.

Eh, I'd download it from Steam. Sales and stuff.

Normally i'd go for a digital copy.. because i have no room for game cases, however lately with the size of games, i prefer disc copies. Far Cry 4 had a large HDD size, same with GTA V, and i can't download something massive as i only have 150GB download a month

I love the sense of Power I have when I own a physical copy. Additionally, I love that new disc smell, and the snese of ownership holding it, the case, and the paper materials in your hand. Furthermore, proper upkeep keeps my discs scratch free.

Cheers.

Still not sure of I'm even getting it at all, but it will always be digital for me. In my case, my Internet is pretty decent and downloads don't take all that long.

I have almost zero storage space in my room for games, and the less clutter I have the better (I absolutely hate a cluttered room). Steam makes things far more convenient for me and the ability to verify game content is absolutely a must have if you frequently ruin your game by modding (*cough*). I have yet to have any issues at all with steam downloading games and have never had to re-download a game due to an error. I also hold no emotional attachment to opening or storing disk cases, they're just a tool to help potentially keep the disk from getting ruined (another benefit of digital).

I going threw Steam. So when my game breaks from mods i can just verify game cache and be good to go.

Hard copy. Always. My download speed is dreadful so I always buy physical copies of games whenever I can. I take care of my disks anyway, so I never loose them.

This.

Except, for me, it'll take 30-60 days for the game to pass the godamn customs. So, this will be the first GTA which I will own in Digital form.

In retrospect, if I knew the launch date would be detailed, I might have ordered a physical copy, but then I got to get a USA address from DHL, blah blah blah... :/

EDIT: Also I don't understand how people can fk up their disks. If my friends get a disk, within a week there's a billion scratches.

Meanwhile, I sit here with a 5 year old disk that has barely 10..... lol

Did anyone forget that games on Steam are never out of stock? Just imagine.. The shelves at every GameStop will be empty.

Steam, the best store in the world, daily discounts and EVERY game is ALWAYS in stock.

Digital, I can't buy a hard copy because my siblings (Little ones) have a way to get through my things. I'm not sure how and why but they break the hard copies i buy so i just buy digital copies. Steam is the greatest because for me my internet is not bad, even though it says it will take 100 hours it takes like 10 minutes. Just remember, make sure no one in your family comes in with a hammer in one hand and a book and another hand and destroy your computer or console. Because that's a down side to a digital copy.

HARD COPY absolutely. With digital, who is to say a glitch or two, or you being locked out of your account won't mean you cannot use the game? I would not want a company or retailer controlling how I access and install the game. If I pay $60, I want a disc that I am in control of.

  • 4 weeks later...

After what Steam did to the Digital version of GTA SA I'd say hard copy.

Not like you probably already heard the songs a million times. They didn't really butcher it. Still plays like SA to me. Digital FTW.

Its not the fact they took songs out, its the fact they were willing to remove content from something they'd already sold us.

What if next time they decide to remove a bit more than just a few songs and some of the graphical settings?
