That's pretty unprofessional coming from someone who is supposed to uphold the rules of this community and represent it.

I am also surprised that he has that much anger that he has to take out on a public thread. I mean, Steam, sure, YouTube, why the fuck not, but on a thread where he is the moderator?

Sure, except that it's very useful and has many advantages over a little car. A two-door isn't going to go through heavy snow. Where I live, people own trucks and SUV's so they can travel in bad condi

I agree with OL, Americans have a different living situation than people in other countries. It doesn't even have to be for work, it could be for a family going on vacation. When I go on vacation with my mom, there are usually 6 of us. My (6'5") stepfather, mother, step-grandmother, 2 brothers, and myself. Our Ford Expedition comfortably fits all of us, plus room for all of our luggage. Actually, it's usually hard to fit all of our luggage in the trunk, but we manage (my stepfather refuses to get one of those carriers that goes on the luggage rack on top). Sure, the gas mileage might not be so great, about 18 MPG highway, but I doubt your tiny European cars would fit all of us.

Respectively Peugeot 4008 and Citroën C4 Aircross, with similar mensurations as your Ford Explorer, a few inches close. That's fun that you 'muricans act so offended when we talk about your SUV's, but on the other hand you act just as contemptuous when it comes to our cars as well. Sorry but we don't drive two-doors or Mini Cooper's. We drive regular cars with regular sizes. We just have the sense of proportion.

Also, if you are really a lot in your family, there's something called MPV that we use around here, such as:

peugeot-5008.jpg

An ancestor to that model even had additional seats in the trunk, turning the MPV into a minibus.

tl;dr : tiny cars, in Europe? Nope, sorry.

Edited by Hystery

Is it like 5 seats up front, 7 in the back and about a family of 20 in the trunk>

Sounds like an accurate description of Liverpool to me!

We have tanks. For the miliary. For the roads we use more convenient cars, that actually makes sense to own.

You mean this? Those are damn soccer mom vans.Abrams-transparent.png

I'm sorry, but that thing is just hideous. It looks like a Toyota Prius on steroids. I'd rather drive a real SUV based on the appearance itself. But I can respect its size to an extent, it comes close. Though I'm not convinced about its towing capabilities and traction. It doesn't look like it has much ground clearance either.

The only foreign SUV I would drive would be a German SUV or a Range Rover, which are way out of the average consumer's reach.

I was referring specifically to anyone who says that large American cars are ridiculous. I understand there are larger vehicles in Europe, and I assume those that say large American cars are impractical will also say that large European cars are impractical, right? My comment saying "tiny European cars" was only because other people say "oversized American cars."

"Work and ideas get stolen, then you keep moving on doing your thing."

The new Ford Explorer isn't even that large when compared to some of the vehicles in America. Take those lifted dually pickups for example, those things are huge.

Need I say it, but most of Europe simply has no need for larger SUVs and 4x4's. In America and Australia (and I'm sure many other countries too), there is a need for them. Though, over here everyone drives a Toyota (specifically the Land Cruiser model), as they're super reliable and extremely robust.

Swapped out my awful grammar so my post actually makes sense.

The thing is Europe was built long before the car was even a figment of anyone's imagination. As a result because the horse and cart was the primary means of transportation, the streets would have been small and cramped. Additionally, due to no central planning most cities in Europe were built in an ad hoc manner, largely preventing the use of large vehicles centuries later.

Cheers.

Well, this certainly blew up over night. I didn't really mean to escalate anything, just poking fun at huge cars in general (especially America). It's a joke, and just because I'm not using emoticons does not mean it can't be a light-hearted message. I'm sorry if I offended anyone, but I still stand my ground; I see no practical useage for a car like this.

And OL: There are people doing exactly that in Sweden and other places, and yet, they can do it without cars like this. It's a different culture, pretty much. Which I find extremely fascinating. I'm not downplaying american science or what america did for cars. I think we all need to relax a bit about this, obviously this is just a joke  that wasn't very well received by a few people here.

Now, can we please keep on topic. If you wish to make commens about my moderation or continue this discussion, take it to a PM.

Its not the worst thing I've seen. I just wonder if they are going to make a police interceptor out of it. I could see some of the features being changed if they make a police interceptor (IE the foot to open the back). I feel that some departments would probably end up going back to the Expeditions. Overall, not that bad even though it looks like a Range Rover and a 2015 Tahoe / Suburban.

I don't mind the new design, infact I quite like it. It looks classy, Although I prefer the civilian version... As a police version I don't think i'll like it so much.

Wow, how frequently does Ford update their designs?! The explorer looked much better before, and yes it does look very Land Rovery/ Range Rovery.

Well, just to let you know, it may be a common French police car perhaps, because the French, like the Germans, tend to only use the cars made in their country for police

In London the Armed police use BMW X5's, for Road Policing around the UK (equivalent to your Highway patrol) they use BMW X5's & Land Rover Discovery, Mitsubishi Shogun, and for other purposes such as rural areas there are Nissan Navara's & Nissan Pathfinders.

cars are looking gayer each year...chevy Colorado soccer mom hybrid van now this? and the charger? seems like they have 5 year olds working at these car companies now looks like ill be sticking with the ford raptor for as long as I can
