2016 Ford Explorer revealed.

Featured Replies

Ford has revealed there 2016 Ford Explorers, as Ford says ''We are trying to get that Lincoln feel in a Ford Car.'' I think they are really ugly, but what does this mean for the Ford Explorer Police Interceptor? Will this change the role of the Police car, or will Police Departments stop using the Ford Explorers?

That's pretty unprofessional coming from someone who is supposed to uphold the rules of this community and represent it.

Sure, except that it's very useful and has many advantages over a little car. A two-door isn't going to go through heavy snow. Where I live, people own trucks and SUV's so they can travel in bad condi

  • Yet another oversized american car that no ordinary citizien could possibly have any use for.

Yeah no, prefer the old fashioned ford explorer, this is why i like car companies like lamborghini and cadallic way better.

I enjoy ford a lot, just stick to themselves, they make tons of money anyways, keep that way, don't lose money but making a car ugly and Police Departments might break a deal with them on these....

I for one actually like the look of it, although it looks like they did a bit of copy and paste from Chevy's 2015 Tahoe, and by that I mean it has the same sort of shape and style as the Tahoe.

That's what i said when i saw it! I guess it looks ''Okay'' but not my style, 2013-2015 were my style.

I Doubt this will stop the role as PI's. The 2015 tahoe is still being used as a police car. And Ford makes substantial amounts of money with PI's, So i'm sure it will stay.

I Dont really love the new look, But im sure they will find use in it...

Meh, Why do all the car company's change their style...

reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I personally don't mind it. I think it looks better in some ways. The previous Explorer was too curved in my opinion. Also remember that the Police Interceptor version of this will be mostly blacked out, it won't have the chrome grille and other chrome parts which may make it look a lot better.

I hope they keep the Taurus the way it is, I currently like the aggressive front end. I have a soft spot for the Taurus, since it has a large black grille like the CVPI, which almost makes it feel reincarnated to an extent. I just wish they'd make it a honeycomb grille, similar to the SHO.

They do it a lot to get more money, hey lots of people like the 2015 Tahoe, yup were going to make it somewhat like theres!

I actually wish we'd get these cars in Australia, all we get are the older versions. The last explorer we got was I think early 2000 models. It's so crap.

Yeah they might out run the trusty spiders lol

I don't understand at all why they need to change everything every 2-4 years.. the Crown Vic stayed the same for what? 13 years? & was & still holds up better then any other Police Vehicle on the market.. there is no benefit to changing the look other then to make dumb ass customers buy it because it looks different when it is in fact the same damn thing..

they should improve how it runs rather then how it looks..

I was talking to an HRP Officer about a month or so ago & he said he likes the Ford Taurus, but it wasn't built for the abuse Police put them through, his Unit was a 2013 & is already on it's fourth transmission & just had it's 3rd engine put into it & has not even 100K on it...

Dodge is even worse he said, yet they keep changing stuff instead of improving their vehicles they already have out.

bring back the 4.6L Crown Vic!

They don't need speed, they need reliability.

Ford has been really disappointing, 7.3 Diesel was damn near bullet proof & they run like new with 900,000+KM on them, they discontinued them they came out with the smelly problem ridden 6.0L Diesel, garbage as well, if I get rid of my CVPI I'm switching to Chevy...

Right!

It looks great. Can't wait to see the Explorer in the NYC Auto show when it comes around. It looks like a knockoff Range Rover. I'm sure people will get used to it, people didn't like the 2nd gen charger when it came out, now everyone likes it and they hate the 3rd gen thats coming out. I wonder what the utility version will look like.

Wow, if you're telling the truth (or the cop isn't exaggerating for that matter) that's just outright laughable. Kind of hard to believe... but damn... that's pretty bad.

I think the important thing to remember here is that the police market probably isn't their first and foremost market.  Ford caters to regular Joe customers first. There is a need to stay ahead, with thousands of customers out there Ford wants to reel in as many as they can. If for some reason building police cars wasn't profitable anymore, you better bet Ford/Chevy/Dodge would abandon it for more profitable waters.

As much as we all loved the Crown Victoria, with newer offerings coming from Chevy and Dodge the CVPI wasn't the better choice anymore for departments and sparked the new Taurus.

New emissions standards are probably the reason for retiring old engines, alongside ever changing customer demands.

As for the new Explorer, I like it better than its 2011-2015 counterpart. Just looks better in my opinion.
