How often you install your IV?

Featured Replies

Just curious. We all mod are respective copies and mess it all up more often. How often do you reinstall it?

I usually reinstall my game on an everyday basis.I mean...sometimes I give a gap of one day,but its like an obligation. One day its running fine.I close it,wake up the other day, launch it and it dies on me.So I'm literally reinstalling it everyday to make it work.

At other occasions,it behaves in an absolutely strange way.Like ALM intentionally spawns wrong cars,Taxis everywhere (mind you the previous day they weren't there when I went to bed--did somebody *heavily* modded my GTA while I was sleeping? XD),vehicles appearing and disappearing in my face, textures are suddenly gone after 15 mins of gameplay, etc. etc.Even today it crossed the line. Before going to college,I played it fine, then shut it down, and off to college.Just returned, now the game won't even load.It keeps on loading and the background music eventually dies (faster than normal). No errors-absolutely nothing.I deleted the whole Rockstar folder. Now I'm reinstalling it again.I can bet it'll work fine for some 2-3 hours and then again this cycle will start.Seems like my GTA has a mind of its own. There ARE people who use cracked copies of game versions, but even those peeps have never mentioned these *unique* problems.I have surfed the internet for hours and still my problems remain unique.Nobody has ever got them.I mean taxi bug does exist, but it occurs ONLY when somebody mods it with heavy cars or so.In my case,it mods itself up overnight, all by itself XD.

Any opinions/comments?

And I won't even give a sh!t if you guys have nothin' to say because it all is unique stuff--only happening to me.No,I don't need a doctor and I'm depressed because of this game.

I take pride in not having to re install over and over again, I leave my steam copy alone, Mailny for multiplayer, And have a deticated Directory, Id rather Debug whats going on, then completley reinstall all the "little" things I have modded, So for me, Its some what rare unless its drastic, I ALWAYS back up my main modded Directory on my Ext. Hard Drive, If your honestly having THAT much issues, I suggest you Finally Re install ONCE, And then Slowly, Add one mod at a time, Not "Alright, 50 scripts, and all cars modded, GTA!" Gta: "Wh, What master?...." "CHALLENGE ACCEPTED?!?!?" GTA " :'( ", It just simply cannot handle it, I can honestly Completley understand wanting to have all the good mods, But, Having the RIGHT mods, And Gta run buttery, Is so much more satisfying, As far as your texture, Taxi bug etc. Again, high poly car mods are the demon, THE DEMON I SAY!, As well as traffic flow and traffic load certainley do help. Also, As far as your game going down hill after 2-3, I find this regular, The memory usually is full after that with all the scripts, Textures, And cars spawning, So you'll see some issues, Anywho, Tweak your ONE copy, Make it run like butter, Its so much better than having that Crown Vic with a bajillion lights on it -__- "I'm Sorry officer, I didn't see your lights?" BS,

Regards, JAM.

Thanks,chums.

And @JAM: Do you have two (oh yes I said two) different copies of IV on your HDD?

Fellas, please notice I said it manages to mess itself up overnight.Means when I turn it off after making it run fine, the next time I open it-I'm not getting the same results.

And Honestly, I dont really understand how this can possibly happen at all, Unless you have other people acsessing your computer?

You're doing something wrong if you have to re-install every day.

I haven't re-installed in ages, I last installed mine in May.

Than what could be wrong ? I don't do it on a daily base (I used your tutorial by the way :) ) but maybe once a month I get crashes often, altough I do think that might be ELS, because reinstalling ELS mostly fixes the trouble.

My family members access there accounts, but they don't mess around with C drive. They're warned not to do so (by me). Also, they really don't give a sh!t about it.Damn,I've almost finished reinstalling. And it might take a lot space (3 copies) eh,lad (I hope you know lad better than chum lol)?

First of, "Chums" is friendly. Even if I haven't heard that phrase in years. Not to be confused with chumps though :)

I leave my steam copy alone and don't mod it at all. It stays in the steam folder and is there as an untouched back up. I use that to take origional files from should I need to.

I then have 2 other copies elsewhere on my PC. (note for some reason this is the only game I have been able to remove from the steam folder and run it elsewhere without steam) The 2 other copies are used in this way... I have the main copy I play with, and this copy I add other new mods to as I choose. Every 2 weeks if this file is running ok with no problems I copy it, deleteing the last 2nd copy. This way anything goes wrong with my most up to date version with all my mods I have a clone that is never more than 2 weeks old. Meaning I wont have to reinstall the bulk of my mods. And like I said I have the origional steam copy for back up of untouched origional files.

So guess you could say I have 3 GTAIV installed. Untoched origional -- Main modded stable LCPDFR playing version -- copy / clone of main modded LCPDFR playing version. Maybe a bit over the top but the thought of redownloading off steam or installing all mods again makes me do this. My playing version is 18 gigs in size btw :)

The problems you speak of in first post are odd. I wonder if its a hardware problem starting to show itself such as a hardrive thats on it's way out. Just a guess and I have no tech' knowledge for backing that up but if you have to reinstall that often and if things like you say seem to corrupt all by themselves overnight then something is obviously not right somewhere.

I have a vanilla copy of GTA IV on 1.0.7.0 always installed, then another copy with mods. This way I don't really need to make backups, as I can just always get the files from the vanilla copy.

Due to the graphic nature of this post, reader discretion is advised.

Thanks for summing that up,Molten.smile.png

Err..what? Sorry for being so dumb but I'm banging my head on walls due to the over-stress and unable to understand anything, atm

The last time I reinstalled GTA IV was back around Dec 2010, It's always good to have an original copy somewhere safe, one that you're not planning on touching. Instead of reinstalling it, we have this tool called GTA Registry Repair from http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=18515 and every time you think your game crash is due to registry error but not a mess up mod or script and mostly savegame issues which is causing your game to not run, then use the registry Repair, i hope that helps...

Not related to LCPDFR, moving to "GTA IV - Discussion"

Processor: Intel i5-6600 @ 3.30GHz

I wonder if there is something "off" with your system... Do you experiance problems with *anything* else on that computer? And I mean absolutly anything.

Not really.I have MW2,AC:B,CS:CZ,NFS:HP 2010 & NFS: The Run.They all run without a hitch.I dunno why but just GTA is a bit of problematic thing.Maybe because its poorly optimized.

Umm...No--not,really.Its just that I could get VLC to play in direct 3d desktop mode before, after reinstalling windows,I don't know what I missed, but now I can't do the same.

Anyways, guys,I found the problem due to which:

...the game won't even load.It keeps on loading and the background music eventually dies (faster than normal).

Motherf***ing EPM! I was just browsing the net a minute ago and tried to reinstall EPM V1.5 as I did before going college that day.And I found a comment from a guy there:

I have some problems with this mod atm, at first it was the best mod ever. But yesterday when I was installing the lexus LFA non-roadster, The game is loading for centuries. It says "Loading - Cousins Bellic" and then suddenly the music stops, but when I delete the scriptfolder everything works fine again. Pls help me.

Thats exactly what was happening with me.DAMN! It was EPM... :wallbash:
