  • I'll rip what I wrote on a friend's Facebook post about this topic. Watch the video on YouTube if you haven't already, and read at least one article about the trooper himself and you'll see what I see

In this case I think the charges are justified.  The man reached back into the car AFTER the trooper told him to grab his ID, I don't see why the officer wasn't prepared or expecting the man to go for either a pocket or his vehicle.  From what I saw in the video it didn't look like the man was rushing or scrambling to find something like a weapon, he calmly turned and reached for his license after being asked to do so.

Fucking asshole. You gave him an order so he was reaching in and getting it and you fucking shoot him? Fuck you officer.

I'm not sure about this one.... From my point of view, the guy was rushing for the license. he could have slowly got it...

And i know, the cop should not have shot, but really 20 years in prison? He did not kill the man did he?

I Think he should loose his job, but not 20 years in prison... He shot for his safety and i think it was overaggressive, but he did it for a good reason.

Idk, 20 years sounds a bit far.

Even if convicted he probably wouldn't face 20 years of prison. That's really just the worst case scenario.

True, but still...

Idk, if i was in his position i might have done the same... Everyone hates cops, enough to shoot them for nothing, so... Hope for the best prepare for the worst, every time you pull someone over... The world is becoming GTA4 without the whole "Life.exe has stopped working"

I mean, what did the trooper expect after ordering him to go get his ID? Not go for it?

I say bad shoot, it sucks that this happens with everything else going on. This is just another thing for the law enforcement haters to thrive on. Anyways he didn't see a gun or anything, definitely wouldn't pull the trigger until i at least saw a weapon. If the trooper was that surprised by the guys actions, pull the gun out and command him to get out, not scream it and start firing anyway.

Even if he did shoot for his safety, he did ask the man for his ID, when people reach into the car for something, most cops do not shoot on point unless they see an actual weapon. I would of been alert, however I wouldn't of shot the guy, simply cause he reached in the car first, and when he did get out the vehicle, he placed his hands up, and the officer still fired one more shot. Seems like this officer was pretty trigger happy.

Bad call I'd say. He could've said it's in my car, then reached for it, but most people wouldn't think to do that. I feel bad for both parties.

Exactly... It seemed to be both parties faults here... Idk

I completely understand why the trooper did what he did. Being a cop is a VERY dangerous job, and people are out there to kill cops. When the trooper asked for his ID he didn't expect the guy to go straight into his car, and I don't blame the trooper, he's only trying to be safe. I think both parties did some things that should have been different.

I wouldn't really say the guy is at fault, I mean, he did what the officer asked, the cop just got scared and shot him. The guy didn't really rush for it, it was at the same speed that anyone else would've. The cop just overreacted. That being said, it's hard to say what goes through an officers mind, especially with things like those 2 PA troopers getting killed and they always teach you that traffic stops are insanely dangerous.

I'm usually with the side of the cop, but this case I'm not. Overreaction on the officers part.

That still does not justify shooting before he actually saw a weapon. I understand policing is a very dangerous job, and that the trooper might of thought he was going for a gun, however this cop asked for his license, the cop could of ordered the man to stay in the car also if he was that concerned about his safety instead of shooting him automatically.

Is Police brutality new or something?

No not really, remember the 1950's and 60's with racism going on, now onto the topic i think the officer overreacted.
