This weapons.meta file allows you to use your rifle while driving your vehicle. If you want to see how this "tactic" is being used in real life, take a look at this video.

 

How to install the mod 

  1. Download the file from this page
  2. Open OpenIV and navigate to mods/update/update.rpf/common/data/ai
  3. Enable edit mode and drag and drop the weapons.meta from the downloaded .rar into OpenIV
  4. Disable edit mode and launch GTA-V

 

How to use the mod

To use the mod simply cycle through your guns inside of your car while having the carbine rifle in your loadout.

 

Optional Addons

The optional addon download contains a small adjustment to the clip size of the pistol and combat pistol. The magazine capacity now stands at 17 bullets like the Glock 17 which most players will use as their service weapon. If you don't want to use that optional addon simply download the file labeled with "Main file"

  • A legal copy of GTA-V
  • OpenIV

What do you have to edit in the weapons.meta? I used an edited weapons.meta and don't wish to overwrite it.

You have to edit the weapon group of the rifle you wish to use to "GROUP_PISTOL".

    That's all I changed really. Apart from the magazine size changes I've made prior to this.

    Amazing little mod. Very useful when doing really dangerous callouts that are on the move and quick interception is needed.

    love this small but realistic modification as i see many officers actually do this during pursuits(although it ain't the greatest idea for health) i tested it and this works so great job man

    @Lenny1161 I like to use the mk2 carbine but it doesn't work with your mod and I can't find the weapons group in the weapons.meta provided. Please help

    I didn’t include the mk2 carbine rifle with my mod by default. The featured comment shows you which lines to edit for different weapons to be accessible while driving a car. Just find the mk2 entry, swap the group and you’re good to go!

    Hi, thanks for your response. My problem is that i can't find the line for the mk2 one. Is that a problem on my side or normal for the weapons.meta?

    Hi again. The MK2 weapons are indeed not part of the "normal" weapons.meta. It's located in mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\mpgunrunning\dlc.rpf\common\data\ai.
